Aw shucks girls,

Thanks for the many wonderful compliments! It looks so real because my hubby was totally behind the designing of it. He took his own cowboy boot off one day, traced templates and picked out those specific fabs just for it. The piping was even his idea! Can ya believe it?

Only problem is, because he HAS gotten so many compliments on it, I'm scared to death of messing it up really bad when I do the applique on it. That's what started my post, my question about HOW to best applique it. My sad attempts earlier this year have led me to many rip and re-sew sessions, to the point of seeing daylight through the holes on one of the blocks.

Not ever having done applique before, and the way he cut his templates, I wasn't sure how to do all this. His templates didn't allow for any extra beyond the seam allowance, so I feel like I need to start all over again, but I'm not sure which piece should be under which piece. As it stands now, I can see daylight between the lower boot pieces and the 1/4" fusible I used for the sole. Any hints for me?

I can't see raw edge working, or would it? I sure could use any help here girls, this one's too important to mess up on. Thanks so much.

Karla
