You may want to reseach this but I was told to clean old fabric in buttermilk and water. Check this out before you do it though. Amie

I have a whole stack of old feedsacks...the printed ones...with all of the crazy prints and colors. I put mine in the washer and ran them through....they were made strong enough to hold feeds, flour, and grains...they are a very tough fabric...Eleanor Burns made the same comment on one of her programs when she was talking about old feed sacks and how her mother used to sew her and her sisters dresses out of them.

I have now made a quilt top out of alot of mine and plan to sandwich it and put it together sometime in the next year or so. Don't be afraid of them....at least mine turned out great!

I've bought the printed ones on Ebay and the white flour & sugar sacks too.

Feed sacks are great, but allow for shrinkage. They wear like iron.
