Tiggersmom, someone actually told you that your quilt was plain?? OMG! That just floors me! Just blame it on ignorance. Some people really prefer plain, calm quilts. Nothing wrong with that! I am curious how a yo-yo would turn out made from flannel. Recently I was thumbing through a magazine somewhere, but saw a purse that was covered in yo-yo's. It was cute!

Cathy yes I couldn't believe she said that. It is a huge flannel one I made to go on my bed ASAP, lets say she isn't my favorite person...lol

I did make a flannel yo yo and it looks okay but not the same as the ones made from cotton.

My gd that just turned 10 is in the other room......Yo Yo-ing her little heart out!!!! She is having a ball!!!

I am 64 years old now but when I was a little girl a neighbor who was a grandmother gave me a doll made up of yo yo's. The body had the biggest yo yo's the legs the next biggest and the arms the smallest. It had a stuffed head with a dunks hat on it covering the hair area. The eyes and nose and mouth were embroidered on. There was a bell on the end of the dunks hat and a bell for each hand and a bell for each foot. It was the type of dolls the pioneers made for their children. This woman was an original pioneer out here. I wish I still had the doll because I would send it to Eleanore, but we moved just a few years ago and in the move it was thrown away.

I think of this doll often now and wish I still had it.

At the time the grandmother gave me the doll this was as summer retreat home not an all year around home. Now my parents made it into an all year around home and I and my brother are living here with my mother.

Several years ago, we were all making Yo-Yo in the evenings while in Paducah. One evening El sat next to me to make some. She looked over at mine and asked me what I was doing to make mine come out so nice. Well, let me tell you sister, I was so excited and flattered. I immediately showed her how I was making my yo-yo's. She said, quite innocently, "Oh, you make them with big ugly stitches!" I started laughing so hard I nearly choked! She had been making little tidy stitches and her yo-yo's were coming out too scrunched up. lol, it was hilarious!

Darlene after your post it just dawned on me that when I was in elementary school a 'boyfriend' gave me a doll made by some of his church ladies that was made out of rings of fabric with a darling plastic face. I was so thrilled with that doll and now I know it was made out of yo-yo's!!

I was having a red headed hissy fit when my cousin smashed its face in!!!!! I was Livid!!! I'm not sure what ever happened to it but it was very special to me.
