Re: My sewing studio - ain''t that a joke???
Y'all are so nice. The quilt on the design wall (vinyl table cloth with fuzzy backing) is Jewel Box (QIAD). It's waiting for a border. When that's done I'll have 3 quilts ready for me to quilt. The only other project I have now is Egg Money BOM. My first block is beside my machine waiting for me to finish it. The rest of it is cut out and in freezer bags in the big square plastic container on the cutting table. You really can't tell but beside the design wall to the left is my peg board. Got that idea from someone on this forum. Also the big thinger on the ironing board is what my DH and I made because someone on here had one and told me how to make it. My little stash cabinet will be replaced with taller cabinets on each side of the window. I'm getting a flat screen TV for on top of one cabinet so I'll still have room for one of the mag. racks. That cabinet has fabric folded two deep so I can't see everything I've got. The new cabinets will more shallow. It does get messy in there when I'm cutting and working on a project. But my space is so small that I try to keep clutter to a minimum so I can work better. And the dogs are under foot constantly - they have been known to snack on fabric. I have to open the sheers like that on the window for more light. That's the only window in that room and the lighting is terrible. DH is going to put some track lighting up for me in strategic spots. So it's not all fixed up yet but some day it will be. Oh, I also want a machine cabinet so that the machine will fit flush with the surface but it can't be very big unless I rearrange and put the machine against one of the solid walls. OK I'm thru rambling. I sure have enjoyed seeing everyone else's rooms. I want to see more.

Cindyg I love your room! You have it so clean and tidy. I really like the BIG Board for ironing. Do you have instructions? Is it removable so you can iron clothes? I would love to have one. Thanks for sharing. I had you pegged for a real Neat & Tidy gal. lol

Cathy, you can make your ironing board thinger as big as you want it. Underneath are two 1" X 1" strips spaced apart the width of the ironing board so that when you lay it on there it goesn't wiggle around. We covered it with batting and muslin. You can take it off to iron regular stuff. I love it. I'm not always that neat - if I'm cutting out a quilt there's fabric and strips everywhere. I have a plastic bag (on the stool) for scraps and bits. Right now I'm sort of in between projects.

LOve your room. Your Jewel Box looks almost like mine. Made mine in blue batiks with a grey Moda background. When I first started putting it together the QIAD method, it seemed kind of strange. But once I got the hang of it, realized what a great way it was.

cindyg, first off, your Jewel Box quilt is gorgeous! Love it-love it- love it! Secondly, when you come to visit me, I'll need some advance warning because I'll have to hire a swat-team with fork-lifts to come in and make the place presentable! Back in late Jan. I began a project of transferring all my card-making and art supplies and equipment that I use for our business. I had to wait until we moved the business from one location to another. I packed boxes from one room and had to store them. A few weeks ago the "marketing room" at the office was ready and I got those boxes moved down there. Now I've got space to pack up the other really large room of the rest of it to move down there. Problem is, I've got so much of it that it's not just a weekend project! But, no way am I going to part with any of it! I need my toys! LOL! So, just as I was on a roll with it making progress, I had to stop and make 400 July 4th cards for our customers. Oh, that was cute, all my supplies divided between two places! So, now I'm on to phase 2, just one more room left to pack up and move, then I will have the entire top floor of our house for my quilting! And maybe then our downstairs will start to resemble a normal home again, instead of a quilt shop! I love the way you have your sewing room arranged and it looks so light and airy! Thanks for posting your pics!

GP - do you hear my foot tappin'?? I'm waiting to see your quilting spaces. I guess I'll just have to keep waiting. I don't see why you just don't hire a moving company to come and take your stuff to your office! LOL I know I'm going to be SO jealous when I see your wide open sewing/quilting area. Hurry up, woman!
