Re: flannel
A few things to remember: wash and dry it as it tends to shrink. Iron it (hot with a little water spritz) on the back side (smooth side)to get any wrinkles out. Use a longer stitch length.
I love to use flannel. I try to buy the better quality also (denser). There is flannel in the quilting section (Joann's) that is better than the flannel they have in the childrens area. However, I do buy the less expensive sometime when I can find a dense weave. If I am just going to use the theme fabric for a center square or highlited part of the quilt, I will use the less expensive also since I'm not using a lot of it.
Try it, you'll like it!

Re: flannel
I wash flannel twice and use a 1/2 seam allowance instead of 1/4 inch.
I got that information from Simply Quilts when they were making a flannel quilt.

Re: flannel
oasis makes a very strong case for flannel - she has done such a good job I have come to think it is something I need to try - have a question for the longarm quilters though - is flannel treated differently - I have never had a customer with one before so havent done the research

Re: flannel
I use Cotton Batting most always. Especially with flannel maybe only l or 2 layers. I haven't used the real fluffy kind for quite a while.

Re: flannel
Hobbs 80/20 and Hobbs 100% wool both work well with flannel.
