LOL! Down here sweet tea is a staple! It's not tea without sugar!

what is that line in steel magnolias? I think they called sweet tea the house wine of the south. Just came in from across the street what a wonderful night for sitting out. It is just lovely tonight.

Sweet tea is a staple for quiting???? I never even HEARD of it before I went to North Carolina last December. Didn't try it. I don't like tea. I have aquired a taste, however, for some of the flavored teas. I love Sonic's flavored teas. Unfortunately, we have no Sonics in Minnesewta.

I used to drink my iced tea w/sugar but broke that habit 25 yrs ago & cannot stand sweet tea now. However---I just LOVE to take a can of frozen pink lemonade and thaw completely. Then sweeten my tea with that. Sounds gawd-awful probably, but it is very good. And you can make it as strong as you want it. A Cuban friend from Florida started me on it.

Oh yes, gardenquilter, you explained it perfectly! Tea brewed correctly is the nectar of the gods. Tea made incorrectly is, well, can't put that word on here! LOL! I hadn't thought of Steel Magnolias in ages, that was such a cute movie! And so was Fried Green Tomatoes with Jessica Tandy. Cathy, lemonade with tea is delicious! In fact, I submitted several tea recipes for the cookbook maryq is making. Southerners are very serious about their sweet tea. Each region in the U.S. has it's specialties and quirks that stereotype it, and one of ours is sweet tea.
