Just a few quilts from MQS in Kansas

Post by lv2create » Tue Jun 12, 2007 4:07 am

Ladies and Gents here are just a few of the georgious quilts I saw at MQS in Kansa. I left them a little large because you can see the quilting a little better. The amount of talent is amazing. Enjoy

Goodness, those quilters have more talent in their little finger than I have in my entire body! Those quilts are exquisite, especially the blue ribbon quilt. Think I'll tuck in my tail and practice 1/4 inch seams!!!

The show stopper quilt is picture 4, 5, 6 and 7. #4 is the back of the quilt the color you see other than the dark purple is just thread from the quilting.

WOW, thanks for putting those up. I am always so inspired by quilts of that caliber. Makes me want to increase my skill set ..... and if it makes me look at my quilts as the quaint things they are, well at least they please me and are warm ..... LOL

Wow, those are something that I will never accomplish, but still I am so thrilled to see work like that.

Beautiful!

I have noticed trapunto and whole cloth quilts are really coming to the forefront of quilting these days.

Peaches, I have two quilts that my grandmother made when she was in her late 70's. I never thought to look closely at the sewing back then. I just thought that they were beautiful and I loved them. Still do. My grandmother made quilts for people all the time and everybody would beg her to make them one. Guess what? A lot of those seams don't match. But, who cares? They were made with love and they are still beautiful. Don't let these quilts intimidate you. Your work is beautiful and don't you forget it. BTW, My grandmother did not know about the 1/4" seam allowance. She had over 20 grandkids and made quilts for all of them plus others as well. She must have made between 50 - 75 quilts. She couldn't afford to pay dues to her church so she sold quilts to make enough money to pay the insurance on the church each year. So, even though her seams did not match, she still had people lined up to buy her quilts.

Let these quilts inspire you, don't let them put you off quilting!
