Mary, I made a balsa wood template and did the same thing! I almost swore off quilting, but them I found El and the rest is history!

Your first quilt is just amazing!!! You should feel very proud of yourself. My first quilt was not all that attractive....at all :o)

Maryq,

Great minds do think alike!!! When I get off of work tonight or tommrow I will take a picture of my first quilt it is the same design made the same way one piece at a time, That is just crazy!!!! I cant believe it! I didnt quilt mine though I just did the quilt tie thing. I cant get over the coincedence!

Mary, it's hard to believe this is your first quilt! You should be so proud of it! And you are so pretty, love your pic! I can't wait to see the wedding pics of your son and new DIL's wedding! And baby Evie, too!

My first quilt was an Around the World, as well. I, fortunately, found El before I started this project!

My fabric stash (from garment sewing) was the source of all but one of the fabrics in this quilt. I started out very conservatively - hmmmmmm - wonder what happened?????????????
