Delectable Mountains
I got the book at the last sale. Am thrilled with it. I really love the color combinations you can make. Has anyone here made this quilt? Any tips I should know before I start cutting? I was thinking to make one using fat quarters first. Then the purple one as DH read through the book and those colors cought his eye.Would love to know which colors worked for you...

I don't have that book either, but am going to check it out. We have the Santa Rosa mountain range here in the desert that always appear purple. Sounds like I need that book!
Have Fun,

I have the delectable MTns book and have made several wallhangings with the minature version and absolutely love the colors and the way it goes together. Also made a twin size using Egypthian Style Fabric (beleive it or not) and it was a favorite. However my brother bought it off me for his girl friend and she went absolutely "ape" over it. HAHA.

Re: Delectable Mountains
I have made this quilt twice, once for a child, in blue and once for my DS, in purple.I used a multi=colored pansy pattern and mulkti=toned solid. I put it on a white background.I used Eygptian cotton also. Here are some tips that I used. Spray starch the smaller pieces to keep them firm, which makes the material easier to work ewith. Set up a work station., I found that a wicker tray with shallow sides worked well. Put the pieces, in their correct formation, { My pattern completed one half block at a time} This prevents you from sewing the wrong pieces together, and helps you keep track of the units you have made. Your cutting is extremely important, because the angles are the most difficult. I cut long strips and then , using a triangle template, was able to make the same diagonal each time. Scant quarter inch seams for the angles worked best for me.Make a cup of tea, and enjoy, it takes time.

Hi Eajosian,
I love Delectable Mountains and Eleanor's fun and easy way to make it. I have made several of them. My favorite was one I made for my DH in flannel. I used a center panel similar to the one on page 78. It was really fun and went really quick.
I hope you will enjoy this pattern as much as I do.

I made this in a class and it is done in rose, green, and beige and it will be hand quilted. It was a fun class and I think Eleanor Burns has the easiest directions to follow. I think any beginer would do well following her directions. Accurate seams are very important in making this quilt.
