McKenna Ryan

Post by iquilt59 » Tue May 08, 2007 11:05 am

Hi Everyone,
I am a new member, so I'm not sure how all this works. I love quilting, and have just finished one of McKenna Ryan's patterns, called "Giraffic Park." It was for my new granddaughter. Her parents were thrilled. It was very labor-intensive, but it turned out beautiful. I have another one of her patterns to do, but I think I'll try something a little more "soothing" before I tackle that one. I recently had bilateral knee replacements (Sept.), and am doing very well. What a difference that operation makes in one's life. So glad I did it. We are very fortunate to have Alex Anderson visit our local Bernina shop on Thursday, May 10. Don't be too jealous. So glad to be with all of you.

Hi I Quilt!
I also love McKenna Ryan's patterns. I should say I admire them, as I've never done one. Do you primarily do hand work?

McKenna Ryan's works are fabulous - they look hard to make. How lucky are you to have Alex Anderson visiting. Glad your knees are doing good. I had a friend that had both knees replaced at the same time and she's glad too - no more pain. Welcome to this forum and hope to see lots of your posts.

I am currently doing McKenna Ryan's "At Home In The Woods", a BOM. A lot of it overlaps so I have to cut out the pieces and wait until the whole thing goes together before I can add the pieces. It is very labor intensive tracing the patterns (lots of intricate trees/branches)on the fusible, then cutting it out. But doing it once a month drags out the pleasure, kind of like slowly eating chocolate! When it all goes together, you have to machine stitch all the little pieces down for stability, so I will have to practice my free motion skills before hand.

Welcome to our rowdy group of quilters!

I had not heard of Mckenna Ryan so I did a google on her. Wow, if you can do one of her quilts you should start calling yourself a quilt-artist!

Here's her website if anyone wants to see her quilts:

www.pineneedles.com/index.asp

again, WOW!
