I too have trouble deciding on colors. I want to make "Summer Porch" From Eleanor's Through the SEasons book for my future DIL, but can't decide on colors. At first I thought I would make it all shades of blue, but she likes lavendars too, Then I saw some really pretty pink fabric today and wondered how that would look. THink I'll just have to lay all the fabric I have out on the floor and stand back and take a look!

I made 2 Summer Porches, One in all different colors of purples,lavendars, light ,med , dark. all marbled fabrics. Also used light lavendar flannel for batting,med backing.
One in every color of the rainbow, all shades of purples,blues,pinks ,reds,yellow,orange all of different marbled colors, they are so cheery . I made a small table cover and also working on a large rectangle table cloth for a gift, Working on a king size quilt for myself. Using light green backgound with small print for backing on this quilt. A total change. Hope this helps. For the Summer Porch, I think the more colors the better.

I am not sure where to put this. I have a tip on getting ink out. But first I have to tell you the story... I worked as an Activity Director in a Nursing Home Because of always having to chart ever thing we wore pens with ropes on them around our neck so we always had a pen handy to chart.. I am sure you have seen these pens. Well one day working with a patient the pen was getting in the way so took it off and put it in the pocket of my red blazer jacket... Later in the day someone said what is wrong with your jacket.. I looked down and the pocket was full of ink.. I mean full, the whole pen leaked out and jacket was sopping wet. so bad if I squeezed the fabric it would of dripped on the floor.. Several people told me what to do, I came home and my husband asked what was I doing the the nail polish remover and told him some one said to use it to get the ink out.. He said use alcohol. So what I did was got a bunch of paper toweling and put under and poured rubbing alcohol on it and the ink ran into the toweling, kept repeating the process several times and I got every bit of ink out.. even along the seam lines and off the thread.. You can never tell I had ink on it.. It took every bit out.... I couldn't figure out how my husband knew to use alcohol. He had been on recruiting when he was still in whites and had gotten ink on his uniform and that is how he had gotten it out... Just a tip , if you ever get ink on your quilt.. It works.. just use a lot of paper toweling underneath to absorb the ink and keep changing the toweling.. Maybe some of you know this already, If any of you are nurses I am sure you had this problem and knew the solution. For those that don't. try it you will be surprised.

I have three QIAD and to day I receive flying geese ruler .I think it w'll be helpful! In march, I have sewn 12 bloks of "Underground Railroad" .It was difficult because I don't have the tools .So Irecommand to have them before starting!....

We all ask questions, and everyone is happy to help! I'm an intermediate quilter, so there are things that still challenge me!

I haven't made the Tennessee Waltz quilt yet, but I will get to it eventually!

Congratulations on finnishing the 12 blocks. You really took on a big challange without some of the tools. That was a major accomplishment.
