Gardenquilter, when you say you tie the fleece together, is it that fancy stuff I've seen around the edges of the fleece quilts. I need to do something for my oldest son before he gets home next month. I found some US Army fleece that I want to put with a solid fleece to make a throw. Any suggestions would be helpful.

yes that is the stuff with the fancy stuff around the edges, they are so easy to make, I did about 15 for christmas presents and the little girl age 10 across the street helped me. After Christmas we made one for her, her mom and myself. Any I ramble sometimes
directions
take two pieces of fleece and lay them out, right sides out wrong sides together
even or square them up I usually use my 24.5 ruler and rotary cutter
then cut a 4" square out of each corner and then cut 4" strips 1 -1 1/2 " wide all the way down the side, this will eat you blade but so much easier on the hand than a pair of scissors
then tie the side together I usually use a square knot sometimes with the top on top of the knot and sometimes with the botton on the top of the knot,
We got to the point it would take us about 30-45 min to do one I did all the cutting
hope this helps if you have any other questions just email

I like the Log Cabin also. However, I just found a book "French Braid Quilts" and can use scraps and make it in a day easily. Picking the colors and material are the longest task but choosing the material is my favorite part of making quilts. Very similar to the log cabin.
Have Fun,

I have found Turning Twenty Again to be a fast pattern, I made it and machine quilted it in one weekend.

I find that a 9 patch with an alternating solid block goes together rather quickly...

Okay, this is my 3rd attempt at posting this.
My favorite fast and easy block to make for personal or charity quilts is the string block. They are fast, fun and mindless and use up your scraps. I like all of the different ways you can put them together to make them look like they are difficult and took a lot of time to make. Yep, strings would be my vote. I also like the way El does the 9 patch - those work up fast too.

I am completely 25 in 25 from Better Homes American Patchwork & Quilting, April 2004. The picture wasn't pretty, page 62, but it went really fast. I used 1930 prints, really cute.
