Paducah 2007
What a FUN time! My friend and I went on Tuesday, thinking we would beat the crowd..... NOT. Well maybe we beat a little of it, but not much. First stop, of course was Eleanors tent with over 6000 bolts of fabric! Ended up there 3 times. Went to her show, which was just as great as ever. By the way, Sue? was a very cute cow. The new permanent Quilt In A Day shop in downtown Paducah is wonderful. I could hardly believe the transformation of the building. It is so bright and fresh, I stopped to drool over the new Brother machine. This shop is such a great addition to downtown Paducah. We also went to the bakery in the downtown area. OH MY GOSH. We went twice.... I bought a wonderful jacket pattern in one of the downtown places. There are a lot of these beautiful old downtown stores that are vacant, until the week of the quilt show. Then they fill up with vendors. They have a tv channel that goes from 6 a.m. til midnight with quilt show stuff, so as you are lounging in your room at night or getting dressed in the morning, you can see some vendors demonstrate their things. There are food vendors (like at a fair) outside the Executive Inn (where the actual quilt show is). There is a vendor that has pulled pork sandwiches to die for, with bar-b-que sauce on the side. (Went there twice too). One day we got our sandwiches there and walked over behind the flood gates, where they have benches, sat and watched the boats coming down the river. Needed a few items for the hotel room and went to the WalMart and THEY even had a quilt show going on for us. The hospitality of that town is incredible. The buzz among quilters as we stood in several lines was, "How soon will Eleanor come out with a baby quilt book?" Thank you, Quilt In A Day for making the trip to Paducah extra special.

MarieJ - sounds like a marvelous time!!! I had no idea there would be a TV station there to program quilt stuff. I could have had my friends (who live in Paducah) tape some of it for me. Darn and double darn!!! I am just dying to go next year so I loved hearing your Paducah story. Thanks.

I knew you would have a great time. We did and soaked up every minute of quilting, shopping, eating, and Eleanor. We do plan to go next year. Now, you will have to come down from your big high. I can't wait to see the store.

When we went a few years ago, the mall was also loaded with vendors.
