SUPPER CLUB - Monday, July 3rd

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Jul 03, 2023 6:54 am

Good morning,

Happy Birthday to our Chriss and to Eleanor! It's a big day in Quiltville!

Yesterday was a big day here, too. Lots of cleaning going on, also some fabric-cutting, cake-baking, and OWL quilting. Today - more of the same. Except cake baking. It's in the freezer now, waiting for tomorrow when cake-frosting will commence. It's a coconut cake and will be decorated with berries to resemble the flag. We're having a 6-8 person BBQ tomorrow. Today we'll also get our outdoor tables freshened up and make sure we have enough lawn chairs.

Our owls have been really entertaining us lately and this morning is no exception as I sit on the deck with my coffee and computer. They seem really curious about us. We have at least 3 that we know of, and they make sounds like FWEEEEEE. We call them trying to mimic their sound, and they anwer us back! They come close and twist and bob their heads while looking at us. They are so fun! I hope they are out tomorrow so our friends can see the owl show. It must be all the talk of OWL that is bringing them out! lol!

LORI - we were going to go to Sisters this year, too, but the calendar got changed. We've been there several times and camped in the big campground on the west side of town but I've never made it to the actual show. (I did, however, make it to the distillery tasting room a few miles west of town. :D ) I've made a few of Stitchin' Post's patterns - most notably the big quilt of The Three Sisters - the 3 mountains to the west. It hangs on the wall in our stairway now. You will have a great time! Check out their batiks. Only in Alaska have I seen such a huge selection!

CAROL - your soups sounds so good. I bet your hubby is loving all your experiements! I never thought about the loud bangs bothering marine animals. I know our fur-folk sure don't like them! They've been going off in our neighborhood the last two nights. They are totally illegal so it happens in the middle of the night. I know you'll be having fun at the Quilt fest!

TINA - we smiled at the same thing - Cricket as a name for a rottie. She was a rescue when the kids got her. I love pretty fireworks and in fact, when I was little, that's what I called them - pretties. But I don't like the boomers.

JANA - we're all thinking of Michael, you, and your family this morning as Michael goes through his surgery. Prayers!

I took some spaghetti sauce and meatballs out of the freezer and we're having it over penne pasta tonite. Easy peasy! And a salad, of course.

I hope your supper is easy peasy, too!

A very happy birthday to Eleanor today. Hope she is enjoying a wonderful day.

Mary, I love coconut cake. What time are you serving? lol What kind of distillery? We may have to check that out. If you have any suggestions on other things to do, let me know. We're winging it.

Carol, I'm sure you'll have a great time at your classes. And hopefully your opportunity quilt does well. Last year ours made less than $20.00. No even worth the white glove time. We ended up making over $7,000 over all on the quilt, so it wasn't the quilt. I'm missing the show, because it's at the same time as the other one. I'm kind of sad about that. Hope it's bigger this year. It used to be such a great show.

Looking forward to my trip. One lady is taking a few classes. She flies up tomorrow. I fly up Wednesday, and the other 2 are driving. They'll get there on Thursday. We stay in Sister's until Sunday, then drive up to Portland for a few days. There's a barn quilt trail just south of Portland that we'll drive on Sunday.

I'm having my dad's groceries delivered. Trying it out, so that when I'm gone they can still get food. He isn't able to navigate the website, so I do it and just have them sent. We also have the cable people coming out today. Our MLB isn't working, and we need baseball. It's one of the few things I watch.

We'll we ended up having Chinese food last night, so burgers tonight.

Have a lovely day.

Lori 8-)

Good Evening,

Dinner tonight was leftover soup. I made brownies this afternoon and enjoyed one after dinner. YUM!

I have only one more border to quilt. I think it will be straight lines with no marking ahead of time. I want to get the binding on this quilt, so it will be finished in time for the July 18th Guild meeting.

Maryz - The owls on your deck sound adorable! So cute you can speak "owl". Were you able to get the quilt OWL quilting started? Amara is a beautiful baby!! DH has been enjoying all the soups.

Lori - We did better than your Guild last year, but I am not sure of the exact number. Our quilt show was quite successful. Have fun at Sisters! You will have a wonderful time!

Becca - You reminded me why I do not often order Cream of Broccoli. I like it, but it is very rich.

Jana - You and Michael are in my thoughts today. While you care for Michael take care of yourself too. My Mom had bypass surgery at age 74 and lived until she was 97. I think you have said that Michael will be 75 this year. BTW she was also a diabetic and later was a breast cancer survivor.

Good evening all 🌛
I'm late today, I've checked in a few times to see how Michael is doing and saw that it all went well, so thankful.
Mary, your owls sound like such fun, I love to watch owls.
Lori, do you have to have delivery to just one address? I'm wondering cause we had Dad's delivered here and then we took it to him, he's only 10 minutes away the long way around or 7 through the dirt road. It still saves us a trip to town though. Enjoy your trip!
Becca, I hope the handyman fixed your towel rack. I love broccoli soup, yummy but I don't eat it often.
Carol, wow your mom was a true fighter ❤
I'm glad your guild did better this year. Brownies are my favorite, I don't have them often though.
Well I did my same old same old, watered, vacuumed and mopped. I didn't get to sew because I was worn out. I vacuumed the porch and it was already 90° and the kirby is a workout in itself so I was done in after that.
My iron fried yesterday and caused my sewing to stop because we had to air the house out after for a couple hours in 100° heat. Maybe I'll get to calibrate the 4th with sewing LOL
I made popcorn chicken in the air fryer and zucchini..... no heating the kitchen up that way.
Tina
