SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Sept 22nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Sep 22, 2023 7:05 am

Good morning,

Another chilly morning here. I suspect before long I will think this is a 'warm' morning! I'll be wearing a warm jacket for this morning's walk.

Becca - your painting really is very good. We are our own worst critics! I just Googled "fabric sealer for acrylic paint' and several options popped up. I know Michael's carries some of them and maybe even Walmart if they have much of a craft department.

Lori - the fair was fun and there were more quilts on display than in the past. Some of them were over the top fantastic! I never know if I feel inspired or discouraged by such quilts! lol! Prices have skyrocketed for everything. We paid $13 for a plate of fries and a grilled cheese sandwich that was pretty bad. We bought a carved wooden name sign to hang outside our RV and we also got 5 different Unicorn books at the children's book booth. Entrance for adults now is $15 for adults on a weekday - weekends are $18. But we got a $2 discount for being aged. She didn't even ask - just gave it to us! Not sure how I felt about that. . . .

CAROL - sorry Goldie didn't use the opportunity to spread the message of the organization. (But Private Benjamin was a funny movie!). The quilts: There was one Judi Niemeyer quilt in blues and greens. Hosta? And some appliqued beauties that took my breath away. One bookshelf small quilt that had 3-D accents that was impressive. An RV quilt from the Happy Camper pattern (which I did for our trailer several years ago) but she made sashing between the retro trailer blocks to look like highway and she added embellishments that I never would have thought of. I really liked that. And a lone star where the center was a swan. And the colors used and placement gave the illusion that the swan was floating on water and you could see a second swan - reflection of the first - in the water. So the top of the quilt looked like sunlit sky and the bottom was greens and blues that looks like a lake. That one got my vote! I think I've seen that pattern somewhere and now I'd like to challenge myself to make it.

Jana - great painting tips! Did you get your quilt loaded?

We enjoyed more chili last night and we have just enough left for one more meal, but I'm going to put it into the freezer for another night. This afternoon we're meeting friends about 2:30 for "lupper" at a deli within a small market in Olalla which is about 12 miles north of us. Not sure what we'll be having - we've never been there before. But no cooking here!

Quick aside note: If you ever read Gregg Olson's "Starvation Heights" this is where that story took place about 110 years ago. And Gregg Olson lives in Olalla.

What's bubbling in your pot tonite?

Good morning all ๐ŸŒž
Mary, sounds like you had a pretty nice time at the fair. I love going to see all the entries and especially the homemade things and the schools. And we love going and checking out all the livestock.
Those quilts sound amazing!
I didn't think anyone else could make a yucky grilled cheese besides Frankie, guess it's a little known talent ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜… ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿคฃ
I frogged so much yesterday it was unreal. I was upset with myself for making this mistake. I had 1 row on upside-down and thought I took it off and turned it right side up but after it was all sewn back together I realized I had taken the right way up one off and sewed it upside-down down, ugh was I ready to call it quits! But I did get it fixed by 8pm and I shut down my sewing room then. I was bound and determined to get it to that stage before I called it quits for the day. Just 2 rows left to sew on this one today.....I think, I'll have to measure it and see if I need to add anything else so it's big enough.
Our table is supposed to be delivered today, just not sure what time. They called yesterday to confirm delivery today. I vacuumed and mopped and Frankie dusted so the house is ready.
Supper is unknown yet.
Tina
