SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Mar 3rd

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Mar 03, 2020 6:31 am

Good morning,

Today is my LDH#2, Roy's, birthday. He passed away right after his 45th birthday (on my brother's birthday :( ) of heart disease. He would be 76 now. Hard for me to imagine. We were only married for 15 months. My older DD ended up marrying his son so my two grandsons are double grandsons, I guess. I was married to both their bio grandfathers!

IRISH - I am so excited for you!! I'm sure your Jim is guiding you all the way. You are starting a whole new chapter and you get to write it all yourself! Sounds like you have a lot of good help, too. So, will you be closer to Terry and Kevin? I hope all goes well with the inspection. And you will have normal again one day soon. But it's going to be a new normal - one without basement stairs!

TINA - I think using that pick-up service for shopping is an EXCELLENT idea, especially with this latest health scare and you are responsible for little ones. I never think of that, but since WA seems to be a hotspot for this virus, perhhaps I'll start doing that, too. . .

BECCA - your post yesterday about saute'd kale made me chuckle. I saw a FB funny that said, "If you add coconut oil when saute'ing kale it makes it easier to slide into the garbage." I had to send that to my 84 year old codger of a brother who is trying to teach himself to cook and who hates most veggies.

We are having a couple in about 4pm just for a glass of wine and some cheese & crackers. So after they leave supper will be soup - again. But a different kind! I have a container of veggie beef soup in the freezer I can thaw and heat on the wood stove. I'm so lucky to have a hubby that loves soups of all kinds.

What might you be having tonite for your supper?

Good morning!

Mary - great family history story! Happens many times. It is soup time all around!

Tonight is Relief Society, the women's group of the church. We are celebrating the organization of the Relief Society in 1842. We are having soups. Pot Luck style. I am making sausage tortellini with tomatoes, carrots and zucchini in it. One of my old stand by soups.

Ethan is happy and sad. His favorite old hen died yesterday, but he got 6 new ones. He was just a year old when he got the old hen. He has taken care of the chickens for a long time. Hopefully one of the new chicks will become his favorite. He helped taking apart the old chicken coop this weekend. He used a sledge hammer as big as he is! They already built a new coop and this one was falling apart.

Just waiting for my cabinet this morning. Hope we are first! Then maybe some sewing.

Enjoy,

Jana

Good morning!
Mary, Frankie loves soups too 😊 I hope that virus fizzles out quickly. Sounds like you've got all your ducks in a row for your camping trip.
Jana, I have a favorite chicken too, her name is Fluffy Butt, we hatched her out.... I've lost quite a few to hawks and a couple to dogs, it is heartbreaking.... hugs for Ethan.
I'm excited to see your cabinet!
Today I'm doing uglies, I was going to yesterday but my day went down the drain and I ended up stressed and very upset with a couple of people.
I didn't get my pork chops cooked last night either so they will be supper tonight.

Maryz, you are really going to town on those orphan quilts. You'll have room for more fabric now. lol

Irish, so happy for you. Sounds like it's a positive move for you.

Jana, what time does the cabinet arrive?

Don't know what's for dinner yet. DH is golfing this morning, and sometimes we go out for a late lunch and skip dinner. We shall see.

Have a lovely day.

Cabinet is here! Two wonderful delivery guys put it in place and unpacked it for us. I only paid to have it brought in the front door. We tipped them very nicely. Now to put quilts in. Michael says I have to wait until it is strapped securely to the wall for safety. After all, he did the safety for 500,000 people daily riding the trains, what else would I expect. Picture coming shortly.

Good morning! It is still morning here, and I wanted to check in before the hooligans and I went to walk Ava and Choc. Yesterday was chilly and gloomy, and my mood matched. My 21 year old DGS went off to join the Marine Corps. Today he arrives in San Diego, and a new chapter begins… The sun is shining here, and we should make it to the 60s! What a difference a day makes with the weather here.

Irish—I was surprised and so very happy with you that everything is progressing so quickly on both of your houses! I hope the new family that gets your house will make many happy memories for their generations.

Mary—that’s quite a family entanglement you described! How sad you only had 15 months together! I’m glad you and Mr. Bill found each other! It is really scary seeing how the corona virus is spreading—and especially in your state! Love the kale reference! I like it chopped up in soups, but that’s about it.

Jana—love your tradition and your soup supper! Your soup sounds wonderful!!! Oh, I empathize with Ethan!!! I had several of my chickens that were pets and would let me hold them. I hope he finds a new chick to steal his heart!

Tina—your chicken name is too funny! My DGD had a hamster or guinea pig (all rodents are similar) that she called Mr. Fluffy Pants.

Well, it’s not morning any more, except on the left coast. My neighbor texted ā€œwalk?ā€ā€¦ that’s like ā€œsquirrel!ā€ We walked Ava and Choc and an extra stretch, so we got in at least 3 miles. It’s too beautiful to be inside, but I must sew. A book and a cushion in the porch swing is more preferable!

Hi, Lori! I vote for not cooking any chance I can. Good luck!

Becca—glad you survived the storms! I was reading about Tennessee… wow! Those poor people! DH and I both like spinach—one of his few veggies he eats.

Jana—who-hoo!!! Enjoy!!! I know you don’t have earthquakes—do you?, but with children around, the strapping is a good thing—or load the bottom so it can never tip over!!! That would probably require a rock collection rather than a quilt collection, however.

I’ve finished 4 foxes, 2 bunnies and 2 owls on the baby quilt. I’ll start Hazel Hedgehog today. Mary made this quilt, and it’s so cute! She made the big version which is 4 times larger than the one I’m doing. I don’t think I have the sticktoitiveness to make that one! Kudos to Mary!!!

Dinner—out! We have Audubon meeting tonight, and DH has some errands in town before 5:00, so we will pick up something and have a picnic in the arboretum before the meeting.

Bon appƩtit!
