Christmas Eve, 2025

Post by WeeOne » Tue Dec 23, 2025 10:04 pm

Good morning Everyone.
Merry Christmas Eve❣️

I want to Thank You All for your prayers and support over the past weeks. They have kept me going and preserved my sanity.

It was warm out yesterday, so I took Garry outside for about 20 minutes, to enjoy the sun and breeze. Then I wheeled him to his room.
I asked Garry if they were treating him well. He nodded yes. I started to tear up and told him I tried to pick the best place to take care of him. Sometimes he is hard to understand. But, he up and clearly said, "well don't cry about it." LOL First clear words other than, "I Love You too " that I've heard in more days than I can count.

I encouraged the card exchange and sadly I have failed. I hope I can download this card, for all here.
Merry Christmas ❤️
Lyn

Good morning and Merry Christmas Eve!

LYN - OMG, that card is beautiful! Now I'm tearing up! You've been through so much in the past few months, and indeed this entire year. And yet here you are, thinking of us. I wish you and Garry, and Minnie, too, a peaceful and loving Christmas together.💗 Sorry you have another headlight out on the Jeep. Bill always says when one goes out, the other isn't far behind, so he changes both.

JUDI - did you get all your chores done yesterday? Today is your big day with the all-family party. Are you ready??

FLO - I hope all is well with your family, and you all have a very merry Christmas together.

VAL - wow! Nothing like last minute shopping assignment! I'm so sorry you didn't have more notice and that you had to do it with your achy brakey back/hip. And I'm praying for good roads while you travel. God bless you! Throw in a bone spur and your low back XR's read like mine. Dr says we'll deal with back issues down the road - that having hip(s) done may help relieve stress on back.

JANA - I copied your recipe. thx. Not sure when I'll be needing it, but now I've got it if I do. How did you and Sarah do at the LQS? Did you ever finish your Judi Neimeyer quilt? After doing my NYBeauty this spring, I'm tempted to give a JN a try now. They always scared me before, but now, maybe not so much. I'd like to give one a try one of these days.

MARY Q - I like the idea of the neighbors coming for a little card party on NYE. Years ago we had a Bunco party. It was purrfect- we had 12 people so set up 3 tables. Another year we turned our garage into a disco with lights, etc. Our friend, Tex, was a DJ at the time, so he spun toons and we danced. We had warmers and set up a table/chairs/umbrella off to the side and radiant warmers - which we didn't need after all. A very fun evening. Now, it's kind of like every other evening here - TV reruns, and nodding off in our recliners! lol! And no, I haven't seen Better Than Gravy in the store. I will look for it now - when I finally get back to shopping. Usually I just use Better Than Bullion for gravy but I do keep instant gravy on hand, too. Especially with Bill doing the cooking now.

LOIS - what are your plans for the today and tomorrow?

LORI - are you all over your flu? Do you have any spectacular Christmas Eve/Day plans?

CHRISS - When is Dad coming out again? He must be out of deviled eggs by now! Or will you be going to visit them? I know you already had Christmas with Richard and his family, but I hope there's a little more celebration in tonite and/or tomorrow for you.

Yesterday I completely finished the 1/3 section of my CW's. Now I have to stitch 15 'windows' over the seam where I sewed the other 1/3 sections together. Then it will be time to join the entire quilt together. I took a break though and sewed 5 more little 3-1/2" fern blocks for my dinosaur quilt. I was tired after that. But it felt so good to actually machine sew something! Today, I"ll start working on the next 6 plant blocks in the quilt. They are called "cycads". Tonite is appetizer party with L&L and our grandsons. And a few presents. I wish I had some battery operated lights - I'd decorate my walker!

Have a lovely Christmas Eve, and my prayers go to everyone but especially for Lyn & Garry. 💗

Merry Christmas to All!

We are ready! I will be baking chocolate chip, oatmeal and a drop sugar cookie this morning for my neighbor. He dropped by yesterday and said they have nothing and he enjoyed the cookies I gave them on the eleventh. His wife has Alzheimer’s and broke her hip and had a partial hip replacement in early November. I think he is sort of sad and in need of more cookies.

We will be going to Mass at eleven tonight. We saw family on Sunday for a birthday party for my grand nephew first birthday. I had quilts for my niece and nephew. They were Christmas quilts I had for a few years. One was a Santa Clause quilt that went to my niece with two children. The other was a modern tree quilt I gave to nephew. They both liked their quilts.

Lyn I am thinking of you daily. You are doing a wonderful job of taking care of Garry. Prayers for you both.

Mary - Glad to hear of your progress. Enjoy your family.

Good Morning Girls

Merry Christmas to All of You this morning! 🌲❄️🎄🎁 Kind of cloudy, but sounds like it's going to be a little warmer today, like up to 37* or so. No snow in the forecast, so traveling will be easier for everyone.

I don't know about you guys, but as much as I love Christmas --- I'll be glad when it's over! It's been kind of an odd year and confusing and maddening and frustrating. Without going into details, there's been a woeful lack of communication and clarity about plans for today and tomorrow. I'll be going to Shawn & Kris's tonight and Kevin and Sara will come here tomorrow night for a light supper after their big noon meal with Sara's folks. I'll be spending today either in the kitchen, throwing together a couple pies or cleaning up the rest of the house for company tomorrow. This has been one "loop" I have definitely been out of for the last week.

Lyn... What a beautiful E-card!! I bet Garry loved being outside for a little while, glad the weather was perfect for him to get outside for some fresh air. You are in my thoughts and prayers every day.

Maryz.... Oh my gosh, what a fun picture you paint with lights and music and a read DJ to spin music! I have to ask Peggy across the way yet, if they want to play cards. Katie is in. Gary has dementia so I'm not sure if he's comfortable in someone else's house, even though our places are exactly the same.

Jana...That frosting recipe sounds delicious! But then you can't go wrong with cream cheese. Question though... what is a "flip flop". In Minnesota those are sandals for your feet. How about dunking graham crackers in that frosting, or gingerbread cookies!

Tinab...Sorry your day didn't go as planned.... I've heard the expression that sometimes you just have to "Pivot" and change directions when things don't go as intended. I think that's what I'll call my Christmas this year--just a pivot!

Chriss... Are you going to get together with your folks today and tomorrow? Next spring after you get your new windows.... let's plan our new window coverings! I'm ready to trash my ugly beige mini blinds!

Lori.... Hope you are feeling better so that you can enjoy Christmas!

Guess I better get to the kitchen and start those pies. I cheat and use Pillsbury Pie Crust and canned apple pie filling, and I don't feel guilty about it as this is a spur of the moment deal!

Wishing you all a Very Happy Christmas Celebration! May God Bless you all today and every day!

Good morning!

I'm supposed to be in the kitchen finishing up last minute stuff for dinner tonight. It will be at Kate and Aaron's house. Everyone will be there, we'll except our missionary, Andrew, who's in Texas. There will be food, our Christmas Pie gift, music and the reading of the birth of Christ from the scriptures.

Now as to my Christmas present, the DDS called and I have a appointment on the 30th at 11 am for the final, permanent set of teeth! Counting the days, hours, minutes to be finally done. This all started on July 8th. Supposed to be 4 months, but they neglected to let me know of all the wait times, but that's almost over! Now what do I have a hankering for that doesn't need a plastic fork test? Not sure yet......

Well, better get going,

Lyn, thank you doesn't say it adequately. You have taught and shown me how to be, what grace and service, love in all we do. Hopefully I can .

Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Good morning. It sure is a soggy day today. But it's warm and cozy inside so life is great.

The rain started about 11pm last night. It must have rained all night because I can see puddles. So grateful to live on a hill with a sloped pasture that will run into the road. Across the street is quite a bit lower and always floods when there is a lot of rain.

Monday afternoon I went into Lowes and bought a new washer and dryer. It will be here on Tuesday. They will remove the old appliances, and I can put them on the free site. They both work but I have been having issues with the washer sensor. Sometimes I have to unplug the washer, wait 5 minutes and plug it back in. It, like most things here, is more than 35 years old. And 35 years ago, I didn't buy quality I bought cheap because that is what I could afford.

Tomorrow is Christmas and, in the afternoon, I will be taking enchiladas to the parents' house. It will be our Christmas feast. There will be three of us, so it will be a perfect sized meal without having leftovers in the fridge for days. We just don't eat that much anymore.

Lyn, I think it's cool that you and your daughters will be having dinner together in different states. You sure do have a lot of stuff going on right now. Glad Garry enjoyed his eggnog, and it's good that friends come to visit. Also glad he was able to tell you not to cry about it. You will remember that he told you that when you most need it and it will warm your heart.

Maryq, you may just start a new tradition with the sandwich thing. I could eat sandwiches every day. When I need to drop a few pounds, I skip the bread and put the sandwich stuff in a salad. I think, even though a smoke detector is hard wired, it has a battery for back up in case the power goes out. But I've been wrong before. Ok, we will plan window coverings after the first of the year. I thought about Roman shades but how do you clean them? I'm wanting to move past the valance and curtain combo for the kitchen. Would a regular curtain that covers the window work in a kitchen? I have blinds that go up and down like an acordian, but they just don't last as long as I think they should. Mini blinds can be opened to let in the light or raised completely, but they get dusty quickly. I need to figure out the bathroom and kitchen.

Valerie, Idon't understand the xray and spine L's, but do hope you are fixable. if only this weather had held off another week. Glad you found another route. I have crossed the feather river on my way to Marilyn's. She lives in Brownsville. I wish she wasn't so far away.

Maryz, sounds like you are bee bopping all over the place. glad to see your hip is working well for you. How is Bill liking cooking? Enjoy your get together with friends and kids tonight.

Carol, Merry Christmas. sounds like a nice gathering, that they loved their quilts. I have to agree, cookies do solve a lot of things.

Jana, wonderful to start the new year with new teeth. what will your first new teeth meal be

I need to clean the stove top. But first I will cook up some bacon. I think it was Lori who was having blt's. Mine will be a bloat. bacon, lettuce, onion, avocado and tomato. yum. I might also make the enchiladas tonight and reheat them for tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.

I am making a fruit salad I will put together in an few minutes to chill
Mh phone will ring a few more times befor they come I am sure..Ken is chillin he has put together a bond fire for the kids since it is quite warm out...we will be in the 40s today...no snow...but the draw back is the mud down by the river where the bond fire is...i will set mats out by the back door for just that,,,,I am prepared...
May you all have the best day and tomorrow too....It doesnt matter if you have a lot or a little it is important to love each other,,, God Bless you all...XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Merry Christmas Eve my friends.

I just put cranberry orange bread in the oven. My mom's recipe from 1959. It's the only baking I've done this holiday season. I'm feeling better. We will go to the kids house for dinner tonight and have Christmas with them. Jonathan is in Texas, so we miss him. I sent him a package last week. It's raining today and should continue until Friday. This is only the second time in my life that is has rained here on Christmas eve and Christmas. It's usually warm this time of year.

Maryq, if I don't ask what's going on, there is no communication. It can be very frustrating at times.

Lyn, I bet it was nice to sit outside with Garry yesterday.

Chriss, I make enchiladas for New Years day, so that's what I'll be doing next week.

Jana, yay...the end is in site.

Carol, sounds like a cookie factory at your house. I bet it smell good in there.

Maryz, look at you sewing already. You are back to your old self again.

We'll I need to get cleaned up and see what I can get into today.

Hope you all have a fabulous day.

I wish you all my dear friends a happy Christmas Eve and a Merry Christmas tomorrow.
Lyn thank you for the beautiful card, I love that hymn and we all need some peace.
I am sorry I spelled Garry’s name with only one R, didn’t know.
I am praying each day for you both and I hope you feel the hugs too.
Maryq, I like your term pivot that was yesterday for sure. Today just working on prepping some stuff for tomorrow dinner. Church tonight.
My wish for us all is that we can experience the peace in Lyns card over the next few days.
Love and hugs to all,
Merry Christmas.

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house,
Mama was scurring, gathering even the mouse!

Finally done, with gifts under the tree, all for the little ones to find and too see.

Now with the moon shining brightly on the new fallen crest, Mama can now take a well deserved rest.

So now as this poem must end, Santa's words echo through the night,

Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good night.

Love,
Mrs Claus
