More cold temps here! We are 25* this morning.
VAL - Oh, yes, Texas has winter, complete with snow. As chilly as it is this year, it's still not as cold as in 2022 for a week at Christmastime. 15* then, real temp. Brrrr!!! And in 2021 (the year my sister was here with us and shattered her knee). We all sneaked out of town taking her back to CO in between 2 big storms and the Texas power grid shut down 2 days after we left. Autumn was out of power for 10 days that time, but did enjoy walking in the snow. So yes, winter happens here, too! But we're snapping out of this cold spell soon. We'll be 51* this afternoon. Bill usually goes grocery shopping with me, too, to tote the heavy stuff.
JUDI - how was the birthday dinner? Sorry about the gift cards? How is Val doing? I hope she can come out and play soon. I'm sorry your other son has Covid again. Last year I cleaned my spice cabinet. Wow! I had some 15 yr old items! My walking neighbor and her hubby are on Tumeric, too. They swear by it and, like you, if they stop taking it, immediately notice the aches and pains returning. I've tried it, too, and I think felt better, but we've already established that I am not good about taking pills. So I drifted away. I should go back on it when we get home. Remind me. Did you make any progress on your quilt? I, too, have noticed Mary Q's generous spirit - she freely shares fabric, pencil cases, and more. It's your bad luck that she also shares her frigid weather!
FLO - apple fritters does sound pretty tasty!
JANA - anything that swims IS catfood!! Though, funny, one of my late cats, "Bunny", did not like any pond fruit in her dish at all! "Double ick!", she meowed! So, did you get your borders onto your Christmas quilt?
TINA - sorry you were feeling 'yucky'. Does that mean nauseous? What did you pull out of your chef's hat for Dad's supper last night? Bet he'd like Lyn's pork chops.
MARY Q - yes, Texas gets snow occasionally. Not usually down south in RGV which is 400 miles south of us (Weslaco/Brownsville/Donna area). But it's a big state! In Amarillo, 400 miles north of us, winter can be brutal! Our friend, Tex, is from Amarillo and he hated the cold! I think receiving blankets are the purrfect summer weight blankie for babies. I went through a LOT of them when my littles were little. I used them as blankets, bassinette sheets, Bassinette drapes to enable naptime, draw sheets under their heads in cribs to catch spit ups, night time diapers, nursing shields, and more. So, make those blankets for your nieces! They'll be glad you did!
LYN - If this might be your last Canadian summer I hope you catch a lot of fish. I'm a proponent of catch and release, of course.

LORI - Yep, this cold snap moved east and I think went all the way along the Gulf coast to FL. I'm sure Jasper got its share! The coldest temp I've ever been in was 45* below zero - in Alaska. But it's a dry cold.

We didn't do much for our yesterday. Bill made all the travel arrangements for my sis and me for Alaska in March - plane, car, hotel. He was on his computer all day. He loves computer days like I love sewing days. He did take 10 min to vacuum at my "suggestion". I read, worked on my embroidery, and did a few house uglies. And we took a couple of short walks. This morning we are back on the job with Amara. And every day until we leave on Sunday. I wonder what she thinks when sometimes we're there and sometimes we're not. On Monday we were standing next to her crib when she woke up. Didn't seem to surprise her.
Tonite's supper was going to be spaghetti. Then it morphed into alfredo carbonara. Then I found deli turkey in the fridge that needs to be eaten so now we're having turkey sandwiches. Tomorrow - alfredo.
Stay warm! Hang in there! Only 57 days until spring! 8 weeks and a day.
