El is ahead of her time! When she wrote this book, nobody even knew what a "noodle" and a Jelly Roll was, but she must've known it would become all the rage. I've been searching for 2.5" strip specific patterns and I had THE book beside the bed the whole time. I just love El! Amie

I think this book is my favorite. I like the hard cover also.

It puts a whole new meaning to the term "using your noodle" doesn't it! I love El's books and they have so many ideas and the instructions are so easy to follow. She really is a gem. I started the dresden plate fromthe EMQ and want to work on it again soon. As in January. It's done in violets and greens.

I cut all of my scrap into 2 1/2 inches. Then, I sew this into the Log cabin quilts as the scraps come. It makes for wonderful quilts for anything or any one.

Did you know the book was written to celebrate El's 25 years at QIAD? Thus the 2.5" strips? She's one smart cookie.

I made the Gadabout quilt from that book, and I actually could have finished the lap quilt in a day if I hadn't had the 2 yr old hanging off of me. I loved making it, it was a lot of fun! I didn't finish quilting the border because the only machine I had at the time was my treadle that can only do straight lines and couldn't figure out how to quilt it. I gave it to my mom, and she hasn't felt well enough to finish it yet, but with the new chemo they have her on she's feeling alot better and will probably finish it soon. I'm probably going to pick out another one from the book to do for my DMIL for her b-day next year(as soon as I finish some of my other quilts in progress:)) Has anyone done any of the others from the book?
