Make sure you read the whole chapter before starting. If you have the video, watch it first. QuiltersTV.com has been featuring Egg Money Quilts quite a bit lately, you might be able to catch the video there.
I'm doing three at a time and I made the mistake of assembly line sewing instead of doing just one block first. If I make this again, after appliquéing the circle down, I would place the circle template on top of the circle and mark the quarter marks to make sure I cut the circle completely into equal quarters.
Another problem that I encountered was very thick seams when matching up the circles. I won't be able to quilt on top of these seams. If I had done just the Drunkard's Path, I would not have had the problem. But, I played around with the designs, as you can see.
I could not nest the seams since the circle was appliquéd down, the seams had to go down.
Well, here they are, what do you think?
From left to right: Batiks, Reproduction and Thimbleberries.

Thanks Redtop. I can hardly wait to see everyone else's. DH and I played around with different layouts before I sewed them together. I wonder how many other patterns we will see here.

WOW! Those are great! I really like the Thimbleberry block. Nice to hear the comments too. If I get the book and can catch up with you all then I may do this one differently. Thanks for the tip.

Here is my Drunkard's Path - I just did the traditional layout, because my circles were not perfectly in the middle of the block when I cut it apart (good idea Evie about marking the circle it self)and it doesn't show my mistakes in the traditional drunkards path

Evie, you did a great job and as always I love them all. I probably won't get mine started until next week since I have so many other things waiting in line to get done. I joined a group of ladies that make quilts for cancer patients and I have 2 lap quilts to finish quilting by wednesday.

Thanks everyone. The one in the center was actually the hardest to do. I had to very carefully trim the little squares to 3 1/2" even though the instructions indicate you don't trim until you get 4 blocks together and trim to 6 1/2". Then I had to keep laying them out till I got the circles to match on the seams as close as possible, sometimes fudging the seam allowance.
Libblebit, I love yours too! This is a very versatile block and can get many different looks.
If you got time, do a practice block with just one circle and square and sewing and cutting and seeing how it lines up. Wish I had done that. Hindsight is always 20/20! But this is what's great about this forum, we can share ideas and problems.

I started an egg money quilt about a year ago, it's one of my UFO's. I think I will finish it with you gals. It will be more fun!!!!. OK?????? I have several squares finished, but it just got left behind as I do so often. Maybe all of you could give me a good kick in the pants. I need some inspiration.
I finished a dresden plate this summer for my daughter for Christmas. I HAVE to get it quilted by then. HELP
