BASTING TOOLS??????
Have you folks ever used any brand of a BASTING TOOL(there are more on the market, different prices, too)? What is your experience? They are not cheap and it is soooo confusing to choose the right one. For those who have never heard of it (I hadn´t, either) - its a tool similar to those used in clothes shops to attach labels - those little cards hanging on a nylon string that you cut off at home, sometimes considering whether they are worth keeping for further reference or not ...
Thanks for your answers!

Inka, I've never used it, but there was a thread not so long ago about the basting gun in the Notions forum. I'll try to bump it to the top for you.

Re: BASTING TOOLS??????
I have one and use it for small projects and my favorite way to use it is to hold fabric pieces, especially scrap pieces, or quilt blocks together for storage. It's worth the price for that for me. I discovered the safety pin covers and now I pin baste all my quilts. Thanks El!

I use the pin covers on my pins and pin quilts together. I use El's notions.

I use spray basting, but I quilt by machine. It works really well for me. I don't know about hand quilting.

Re: BASTING TOOLS??????
I use safety pins because I find myself having to move them now and then as I quilt as usually some shifting and compressing happens. Easier to move pins than anything else.
