Wondercut ruler vs. Thangles

Post by quilterbee » Wed May 30, 2007 4:27 am

I discovered the Wondercut ruler last year and OMG! You place 2 strips RST and stitch down one side and down the other and CUT. That's it! I made 180 HST's last week in 30 minutes flat, no squaring up, no paper, no problem. I ordered mine online for $17, they also have a great website for patterns, galleries, directions, pics, ideas, and other stuff. Amie

Does it bother you that when you use the Wondercut that the HST's end up with bias edges?

I have the Wondercut ruler too. The bias edges have not given me any trouble. I don't even think about it. I like to sew narrow strips of fabric together and cut HSTs from it. One side plain fabric one side striped. Now there is endless possibilites with that combination.

quiltcreator, if you don't want bias edges, you just cut your strips on the bias and do it the same way. Thus, no bias edges on the egdes of your HTS's. Check out the website, lots of info. It really is a great tool. Amie :o)

I have one also and it saves a lot of time. And like sewbug, I don't worry to much about the bias. If you are, you can spray starch them, then press and will help keep the edges ok. HOwever, like quilterbee said, just cut them on the bias and there won't be a bias edge after they are cut..

My favorite for quilting is the ultralux lamp.. so easy on the eyes and can see fine detail. Couldn't get along with out it.. Best investment I ever made.
