Good morning, it is snow and cold. we had 60 last week. wind makes it even colder. I have laundry and a run tot he dairy store for Milk and half and half, Ken wants a coconugt cream pie like his mother used to make. I have a recipe from southern living that might come close...His mother never shared her recipes with me or anyone else that Im aware of. His only sister passed away and we dont see the nieces very much. so Im hoping this is close enough. I know she cooked ev erything from scratch, Didn't use any store bought mixes or anything. She had her own chickens and had milk delivered from the same dairy I use, so heres hoping it take Ken back to his days at home...Every once and a while he gets nostalgic for home stuff...I was not close to my MIL she didnt care for anyone who was close to her son...but she loved her grandchildren fiercely,,,so that is the only bond we had,,
I did a lot of sewing yesterday,,,got more Jane blocks ready to hand sew and worked some on the graduation quilt. that will be my this weeks adventure, I bet I spent 4-5 hrs in the sewing room...a great sunday,,,Ryker ,s team lost his game sunday so he was bummed but he still has more hockey to play, we will fill our time with his hockey games....
I need to get moving empty the dishwasher and get myself store ready...hope you all have great adventure waiting. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

If you are in the storm--please stay off the roads. Right now my DD and family are in the middle of it. They live in West Islip Long Island. What a mess.

Today I'm taking Laura and Nick to the hospital business office to see how their application for Nick's help for medic-aid and disability. He needs to see an cancer doctor asap to hopefully have some options. Prayers are so needed for him and Laura.

Thank you
Diane

Good morning,

We have 46* and solid rain here. Should be nicer later in the week, but for now, it is what it is. We are supposed to go home today. But my poor driver has been throwing up all night long. He thinks it's food poisoning but we all ate the same things. He says it doesn't feel like flu. But I simply can't see him hitching up this trailer and fighting the semi's up I-5 for two hours in pouring rain. We can extend a day. Though I'll have to beg Lee to take me to Wilco, just down the road, to buy more dog and cat food. I usually pack extra for just such an occasion, but for some reason I didn't this trip.

JANA - glad y'all got your music straightened out! Though I think we all have enough faith in you that you would be able to muddle through and no one would be the wiser. Have you met the little guy yet?

MARY Q - Today is haircut day! Though, you know, longer hair might be nice. No hair dryer, no fancy styling. Just put it in a pony tail, wet or dry, and go. Sorry all that old basket held was old thread. You may want to ditch it all - old thread can break, cause lint, and mess up your machine. You may not want to risk it unless you can tell it's newer thread. But, if you're a collector of old sewing things, you might make a display . . .

CHRISS - Hooray for Elliott Day!! And what a cute idea - a pinwheel to teach him to blow so he'll be ready for his birthday candles! How is Dad? Has he been working on his projects at your house over the weekend? And which of your projects won your attention yesterday? Airplanes or Ghost?

LORI - It's good to hear your shoulder is feeling better. I hope your friend does well with his transplant. All the medications they have to take is overwhelming. How was dinner last night? And the concert? And I guess I forgot what your circle project is. Does it have a name and designer so I can Google it?

JUDI - yum! I'd love me some coconut cream pie! Home made from scratch, no less. I hope you can top MIL's! I loved my MIL, Frannie. It was uneasy sailing at first because Mike and I were only 16 when we met,18 when we got engaged, and 19 when we got married. She had picked out another girl for him - her BFF's DD. But we both eased into our roles and I really miss her now. No one misses Bill's mom, Beverly, sorry to say, not even Bill. She wasn't bad, but simply wasn't a nice person. My middle MIL, Irene, was so super religious that not even her Baptist minister SIL was good enough for her so she held church services in her own home. She liked me, though, I have no idea why.

DIANE = praying your DD and family are safe in the storm. And that your nephew can get all the help he needs as soon as possible.

LOIS - are you in this storm, too? Praying you stay safe, keep your power on, and your Bill does OK with or without his dialysis appt. How is he feeling? I saw your quilt on FB. Very nice!

TINA B - what do you have with you for a sewing project, if anything? How is your DD doing?

LYN - Looks like you will have a warm and sunny day today. Thanks for the update on VAL. I hope she comes back soon. As I'm catching up on past lottos and swaps, I keep remembering the way she did lotto, each month learning something new or sharpening rusty skills, with maybe the chance of winning the whole kit and kaboodle! It was fun.

Yesterday the kids took us to Vancouver to a huge craft store. With fabric. :D :D :D Even Bill said, "It's been a long time since you bought fabric. So buy." And I'm nothing if not an obedient wife. So I did. Even Bill found a kitted project (pillowcases) for me to do. I even found some FQ's of Asian fabric for the wall hanging I want to make for my DGS, Drew, as a memento of his time in Japan (he's working on the Geo Wash carrier since early Dec and won't be home until May at the earliest). Working 12 hrs/day, 7 days/wk I realized if he got out to see the city at all, he wasn't going to go fabric shopping! So I'm improvising.

So, I have two projects to go home with me - WA St Univ themed pillowcases for some friends (that's what Bill chose at the craft warehouse) and Drew's Japanese Lantern Wall hanging. It's really strange how it always works - just when I finish a project with no idea what comes next - along comes a new one! They do say, God will provide!

Bill just got up, had some milk (which can help settle your stomach), took Scottie out, and then went back to bed. We'll see what happens today. Fortunately, we have nothing on our calendar for this afternoon or tomorrow so we can hang out here an extra day or two if necessary.

Wishing everyone to be safe in whatever weather you are having.

Good morning,

Yes we are still in the thick of things here there is a foot of snow out there and it's terrible outside I called the dialysis center this morning surprisingly someone answered I told her there was no way to get there today she said she will call me back for an appointment for tomorrow.
He's starting to feel better so thank God for that.
I'm relaxing for now because I will be going out there later helping with the clean up.
I think it will be chicken for dinner maybe with some mushrooms and onions.
Mary I hope Bill gets better fast.
Everyone have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Starting the day at 32°, but should warm to 68°, they say.

Judi, Sorry for the poor call on the game. You mentioned not sharing recipes, I've seen a TV ad recently which was for getting Mom into a senior living place and daughter is having a conversation with Mom about it and Mom's pot roast recipe. Mom tells the daughter that daughter's not ready yet for the recipe, but it's OK to put Mom in a facility.

Diane, Sending up prayers that Nick get the help he needs.

MaryZ, I will give the Carols your hello. Bob and Carol live in the Spicewood area. I'm sure you've been on Hwy 71 going into Austin. There's a BBQ place at Spicewood, Opie's, it's by the first traffic light east of Hwy 281. You turn and go north towards the Lake about 3 miles or so. Look up Lonesome Dove Trail, they got to name their street years ago. Garry's not on any meds that would make him sleepy.

MaryQ, Thanks for the offer of tags. I have 2 embroidery units, I haven't even hooked the new B570QE up to test it or play. Yes, I free hand stitched, Hanson, in about 2" high letters on the machine.

MaryZ, Sorry Bill is sick. I have known people who have eaten the same meal, but one got food poisoning. In that case, I think it was a bad chicken breast. Stay put and relax.

Never made it here yesterday, except to read late evening. I did some cleaning on Friday and Saturday, just in case the Cooper's come to the house. I visited Garry on Saturday afternoon, then drove out to the campground and found that Jim and Carol had just gotten there. Said a quick hello, then left them to set up and relax. Jim is 83 or 84 and does all the driving. Yesterday I got over there about 10, I drove them in and we visited Garry for a little bit. Garry did remember Jim and made a comment or two, then went back to sleep. We went to a restaurant close by that serves a buffet. Food was good, Cooper's were happy. Then we went to the Pottery Ranch which is a big store of outside and inside decor. Carol found a frog for their yard. Then we stopped at HEB grocery and they were happy to see a shrimp boil stand set up at the door. I'm not into boiled shrimp, it stinks!! They picked up groceries and shrimp and we went back to their MH to unload. It was only 2:30 and I needed to come up with some entertainment, then I remembered that we went to a Winery for taste testing when they had been here in the past. There's one about 2 miles from campground, so that's what we did. It was enjoyable and a great view of the Hill Country. When I got home I had some paperwork to copy and I finished the throw for Garry to use when in the recliner.

Today I have a Dr appt this morning, actually it's a NP. I still have pain sometimes where I fell with the tray back in October and I need to get setup with medical people here. Then Cooper's are meeting me at Garry's, to visit. After, we'll go to Marble Falls and eat lunch and shop at a western store that sells boots. Jim needs new boots.

Hope everyone has a good day.
Lyn

Good morning Girls

Happy Monday... another "clean slate" I like Mondays much more now than when I was working as they now seem like a "starting over" day.

Judi....Coconut cream pie? From Scratch? Myself, am not fan of coconut but Viv sure is. She'd be in heaven with coconut cream pie. If I thought it would travel well from here to Wisconsin, I'd be tempted to get your recipe! I only met my MIL a couple times while we were dating, but she wouldn't have liked ANYBODY that took her son away!!! She passed away in 1972, we got married in 73. (Actually 53 years ago today!) Ryker is 10 now? Oh yes, many more fun years to watch him play!!

Diane.... Glad to hear that you are able to get Nick and Laura some Medicaid help! In Minnesota you go to a county office or online for that. But sometimes hospitals have Social Workers than get help coordinate for you too. Been there, done that. I will most definitely keep them both in my prayers throughout the day here!

Maryz....Gosh.... so sorry to hear Bill isn't doing so great this morning! Hopefully it will pass quickly and he will at least be able to keep something down this afternoon. Might not be a bad idea to stay an extra day. If my hair weren't so thin, fine, and stick straight, the ponytail idea is a good one! But it's gotten fairly grey and my natural color is dirty dishwater, so I need to do something to make me not feel so dull!! Sounds like you scored big time at the craft store!! Oh how I miss the Crafts Direct place in St. Cloud, their fabric was expensive but beautiful! I don't think I've met a quilter yet who had "nothing to do"! Where there's fabric..... there's a quilt project!!

Lois... SO glad to hear the Bill is feeling better and will be able to get back to dialysis tomorrow. I'd venture a guess that having to postpone a treatment is well planned for at dialysis centers. You be careful out there shoveling!!

Lyn.... Oh that's right, you have that beautiful new machine! Guess you've been a little busy to get around setting that up! . Farmington is just south of where I grew up in Bloomington. Have the Coopers always lived in that area? Haven't been down that way in a long time, but sometimes I pass through when I'm coming home from Wisconsin and come up I-35. I'm glad they got to see Garry while there in Texas.

Chriss.... Happy Elliott Day!!

Yup, it's haircut day. I think I had last one before Christmas so you can imagine that I am in need. After that I am going to force myself to go get groceries as I am perilously close to running out of coffee!! Last nights supper was a few odd things I found in the freezer--chicken patties, a Jimmy Breakfast bowl and a biscuit! Definitely need to get some fruit and veggies in the house. Do any of you guys get a craving for something sweet after supper? I try to stick with fruit, but once in a while I really crave candy!!! Not good for a pre-diabetic!!

Better go refill the coffee and jump in the shower.

Wishing you all a Marvelous Monday!

Good morning!

Sunny, but cold. I'm hoping to get my hands on little guy today, during PT time. He's almost 6 weeks old. Still shy of his original due date of March 2nd. My new dinosaur flannel should be here today for a receiving blanket. He has out grown preemie size and filling out quickly 3 month size.

This will be a busy week. Lots of appointments and the best of all, my new dishwasher arrives! Hope my fabric arrives promptly as Wednesday I am taking Ethan to orchestra and wait for that to be done. About a total of 3 hours or more. So I need a project. Sarah is taking Mr G to his orl surgeon consultation, when Ethan has orchestra.

So I'm off to get things done, sty safe in ll that snow,

Hugs,
Jana

Oh, MIL 's - - mine seemed nice in the beginning, but was underhanded and manipulating. She didn't care about me marrying Michael, she didn't like him all that much. When she realized he couldn't be controlled, she went to trying her other children. The world revolved around her alone.

Maryz, sorry Bill is not feeling well. Hopefully it will be a short lived illness.

Lois, glad your Bill is feeling better.

Lyn, wine tasting is a nice way to spend the afternoon.

Maryq, yes, I usually want something sweet after dinner. Nothing big, just a little something. I have chocolate that is just chocolate and dates. It's good, but not everyone likes it. I too need a haircut.

Chriss, I assume you are enjoying that cute little boy right now. Give him a big hug for me.

Judi, my FIL gave me a recipe for coconut meringue pie. I tried to make it 3 times and it kept separating. Bill even tried to make with his dad and couldn't get it to set right. He didn't use a recipe and may have left something out when he gave me the recipe. We have Marie Calendars here, so if I want pie I just go buy one.

Jana, I sure hope you get your hands on the little guy today.

We are warm again here in SoCal. It's roller coaster weather. Hot, cold, hot. I wonder if it will get cold again. We already walked and I need to head to Trader Joe's before it gets too crazy. I finished another row of circles and have 2 more rows, 8 circles to stitch down. The concert last night was really good. It was Preservation Hall Band out of New Orleans. We've seen them before. Dinner was okay. It was one of the place that like to change up recipe and make eclectic food. Not my thing. I like traditional. I have many things today so I best get going. Dinner will be leftovers.
Have a lovely day.
