Good morning,
Happy Lincoln's birthday. He is my favorite president. I remember in fifth grade we had to do reports on presidents and I so wanted Lincoln, but got assigned Zachary Tayler instead. And now can't remember a thing about him except he died in office after only 16 months and was succeeded by Fillmore!
CHRISS - so now is it window day? Will Dad be there for the installation? I much prefer homemade chili, too. That way I can control what goes into it. I can also control how much I make, but I always make as much as my big crock pot will hold. It's good to smell it cooking all day. We have it one or two nights and then I freeze the leftovers in a couple Ziplocks, enough for one meal in each bag. It's really nice to have a meal ready to go for those nights I don't feel like cooking. (which is almost every night these days).
LORI - a Christmas Bear's Paw sounds like a great project! You really perked up my ears! Isn't there a pattern called Milky Way that is a Bear's Paw? I know I have that pattern in my binder but I'm too lazy to go look right now. Have you decided what you want to take to your retreat? Will your shoulder be able to handle a retreat? You get your next shot on Thursday, don't you? The 19th?
MARY Q - have you finished your baby quilt yet? Started your sister's queen? I'm guessing Viv will be quilting that one for you! As to spaghetti sauce, I buy Hunts in a can. Sometimes I can get it for $1/can on sale and I stock up. And then I doctor it up. I've tried the expensive brands and by the time I'm done doctoring, and letting it simmer for several hours in my crockpot, I can't tell the difference . And like Jana, I usually add a scant teaspoon of sugar. My secret ingredient is a pinch of cinnamon. And I do mean just a pinch. And like my chili, after a night or two, I freeze any leftovers in single meal portions. Do you have Zara? Lulu said she can tell it's shedding season because her vacuum gets so full of hair. It was embarrassing. And we do vacuum in between her visits! (at all her clients, not just us!)
JANA - have you gotten to snuggle up to that new baby yet? I learned a bit of interesting trivia about one one of those huge 6' 3", 225# Patriots players in the Super Bowl. He was a 23-week preemie and given a 1% chance of surviving.
LOIS -you remind me that our sheets need washing, too, but Bill gets up after me and usually makes the bed. And I'm not going to mess up a perfectly made bed! Or even an imperfectly made bed! How is Raindrops coming along?
JUDI - glad the boys hockey team is doing so well. Liam will miss it. I buy spaghetti sauce in a can, not a jar. And I've dropped those cans more than once! I saw today that MSQC has honeycomb embroidery kit on sale. I was wondering if this is the kit you bought a few years ago. Did you finish that?
TINA B - did you fly off to your DD's in VA? I miss your posts!
VAL - how are things going?
Yesterday, I moved around the house to stay out of Lulu's way. She even does windows! She has her routine down pat now and can do our house in 3-1/2 hours. She said if we want, she can start doing deep cleaning (spring cleaning). I like that idea. Bill thinks we should have her do the trailer, too. I trimmed dinosaurs and made binding. I have some little X-stitch patterns for dinosaurs, so I'm doing those for the label. It will take me few days and since I catch the label in the binding, the binding is going to have to wait. Bill will start quilting my baby owl quilt (photo posted) soon in a bubbles pattern. Lori's idea of a Christmas bear's paw is still rolling around in my head. Wouldn't that be pretty?
Supper tonite? We will be having ham slices, baked sweet potato, and roasted brussels sprouts. I can do it all in the oven at the same time.
Have a great Thursday!
