Good morning.

The days have been flying by. This is our last day in Walla Walla. And we have been behaving. Sort of. Kind of. Almost though not quite. It’s so expensive to taste wine in this part of the state, but the tasting fees are waived if you buy so we buy. There are over 300 wineries now. By the time we are done, we will have seen eight of them I think and one we only stopped in because it’s a fairly new winery but owned and run by a young man we used to work with 20 years ago when we worked over here For two crush seasons. He was the assistant wine maker now he owns his whole own place. But the girl at the tasting bar called him, told him we were in town. He couldn’t get to the winery, but he said to give us anything we wanted for club prices which is 20% off usually. Plus free tasting.

Bill got the motor on our slide fixed and he put it out. Yay! We didn’t have to pretend we were living in an airstream after all! Then we tried to put it back in and the motor broke again. There is a shear pin and it keeps breaking off. So he fixed it again but left the slide out and it will stay out until tomorrow morning. Hopefully it will come back in and we can get home and he can work on it at his leisure.

My 88-year-old knot-headed brother-in-law was on a ladder at his house. They had just resurfaced the patio and the ladder slid on the patio and went down with him with it. He has got a terrible shiner and is going to have a head CT scan this afternoon to make sure he did not shake his brains up too much. Maybe he should have. We are praying he has no ill effects..

Today we are visiting two last wineries. We have been eating out as a big group of eight. There are no dinner plans for tonight, but we brought a lot of snack food like cheese, crackers, olives, etc. So we might offer everybody come here and bring something and we will just have a charcuterie table in our campsite. The weather doesn’t look very good here today so they may not want to sit outside and no way can we sit eight people inside.

Lyn, glad you made it over the border. I already miss you. Is it too soon to ask when you are coming home?

Chriss, I wonder if you could lay gridded wire over the squirrel holes and block it with a big rock. I guess they just build new holes. Maybe you will just have to agree to live in peace with them. Let them have your fruit and you get more out of fruit stand for yourself.

Judi, I hope you sold your phone both. What a cool thing to own though.

Jana, has Mr. G always been so picky about things? There is no way we could put our clothes in our closet and have them not touching. I would have to throw away almost all of Bill‘s things to make room. Can you add more hanging dowels? Bills are “two story”.

MQ- hope you get your dishwasher fixed soon. What’s the progress on that?

Lori, maybe the person at the alpaca farm was brand new and still learning? You would like some of these wines we are tasting. Next time we will invite you to join us. Does your DH drink wine?

VAL- is CPAP going any better for you?

Tomorrow morning, we will pack up and be on the road early. We have 300 miles to drive and about 75 miles into our trip is our club Winery. We have put in an order. We’re doing our Christmas shopping. 🎁🍷 We have to stop and pick that up as long as we are in the area. Saves shipping costs

Today is only supposed to be 67°. I really never thought it would get this cool in this part of the state in June so I do not bring warm clothes. I guess I will have to do some rooting around in our little closet where the clothes are all touching. 😁

Have a great day.

Good mornong I was up early cleaned up the pntry in the kitchen. It was disorganized...I cleaned it up and restocked the coffee area. Made a list as i have to run tot he store anyway I forgot to buy graduation cards for thr party tomorrow. So when i finish here i will be off...
WOrking on the wool table runner almost finished with another ufo. I am really loving all this hand work. And loving getting these projects done. But I am also anxious to sew.
A very nice young man ( in his 40s) Came and bought the phone booth. He was so excited as he said he has wanted one for ever, We even had the pay phone and an old phone book to go with it,,Ken was happy to get it out of his way in the shop and it sounds like it willl go to a good home...We got it from some friends who worked for the local phone campany ( fondly known as "Ma Bell" or Michigan Bell) It took quarters so it wasnt as old as we thought, probably late 80s or 90s. A back story on it was when all of our friends kids were little the always called Ken superman because he was tall and dark haired and sort of resembled Clark Kent...with the dark glasses. It was our plan to set up the phone booth in the basement with a superman cape hanging inside. but we found that it wouldnt go down the stairs of this old house. So now it will reside in the mancave of another "Clark Kent".
Off the get the rrest of my stuff done...Hope you all have a great day,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning!

It's rinse and repeat today, just slightly cooler.

I survived the closet and shirts yesterday. Mr G drug all his shirts out to sort. He does have the hanging double rod in his section. He's gotten fussier through the years, especially since he retired. So his main complaint is he can't get the clean ironed shirts hung, because there's was no room, too tight to get them in. OK, I said, let's pitch the old ratty worn out ones. That went over big, Not! So I got him to sort by winter, heavier, warmer shirts and ones for summer. So we thinned the herd in this closet and he moved about half to my middle bedroom closet. That's a good thing, as he'll never go in there to find a shirt and eventually I can get rid of the old ratty worn out shirts. Mr G gets on this organize binge every so often. I let him have one cabinet in my kitchen to fuss and organize. I mess it up every so often, so he can't find something. That keeps him away from the rest of the kitchen. 😀 Now, he's added his section of the closet to his maintenance. I'm sure it's all part of brain changes since his heart surgery with the hiccups they had doing that. The very minor stroke that occurred while he was on the heart lung machine, a common occurrence, and all the anesthesia from the other surgeries too. We have a neurologist appointment shortly. Mr G wants to drive again. No way, his reaction time is not capable and so we have this Dr to back us up. Mr G's memory is bad too. We have been able to keep him from driving since the heart surgery, but that is getting more difficult. Selling the little truck to Andrew helped. Mr G realizes some of his limitations, but not all. So far, Mr G hasn't pushed the issue of driving too much. I haven't even got to his eyesight! Which is bad! Even with glasses. I have my hands full. So I putter, and try to keep things on a even keel. Double check to make sure the bills are paid. Mr G insists that he still does that. So that's my days now. Y'all are my sanity ! Getting old ain't for sissies!

Didn't get that name done yesterday, so it's a have to today. I'll find something to do after in the Batt Cave too.

Off to get my day started,
Hugs and thanks,
Jana

Good morning all,

Yesterday I got 10 pinwheels done for the baby quilt. They are 8 inches finished, then promptly left them on the design wall when I left to go home. One of the other girls got them and they are being held at the counter for me. Not going back till Monday but that will be okay. I hadn't really planned on working on the baby quilt anymore before that. Over the weekend I will work on Ryan's Sampler in hopes of getting it done and ready for the quilter. Then back to the baby and blueberries and cream. Praying I can get my DGS quilt sone for his birthday in December and our friends done for Christmas. I might have to ignore the chores for a bit! Once I get all that done, I plan to go back to the Mariner's Compass.

Maryz the CPAP is okay, I don't particularly love it but it doesn't really bother me. My lack of sleep, I believe, is truly insomnia. I am thinking Kaiser doesn't consider it an actual disease but it truly is. It has an ICD 10 code assigned. We will see what this other doctor says next month. I did sleep pretty good last night but it's drug induced. So I still have the morning drowsiness. Anything else would be a narcotic and I don't want any of those.

Judi I totally missed that you had a phone booth at your house. I didn't realize that was even a possiblity. OMG, yes, I think Ken should be called Superman too! But nice that it is gone and now out of your way. Sounds like the young man was thrilled.

Jana it is so hard when our partners get ill. Dad had issues after his heart surgery and he wasn't on the heart and lung machine. They did the beating heart procedure on him. Maybe Mr. G would be willing to give some of his organization skills to my DH. He has no orgainization skills what so ever! He does get his clothes to the washer at night but he frequently stops in the middle of a project and then forgets all about it. He sets up the coffee at night to auto start in the AM. At least 3 - 4 nights a week, when I am up roaming, I find he has forgotten to turn the machine on, or hasn't made it at all and anywhere inbetween. How he gets through a day of work I don't know. I don't let him anywhere near the bills!

Lyn refresh my memory, why do you go into Canada every summer? It's a beautiful place. Are the driving rules about the same as here? Odd that someone would work at the Alpaca farm and not know anything about the animals. Maybe experienced people charge more.

Chriss I have thinking about 2nd hand stores to get a few things for our trip. I am not sure what access to laundry facilities will be so will try to take a bit more clothing. They are doing some PGE shut offs here. What is happening there? I don't think we are in a shut off area so should be okay.

Maryq thanks for watching the map for me. I plan to make some solid decisions with weekend. I may have to get a rush on a passport. Have been considering driving Chicago either really early in the AM, or later in the evening. But I plan to know by Monday. I will keep you updated.

Our weather is cooler today. 52 now but will only get to around 70 so they say. I don't have any exciting plans today. I am off to eat some breakfast and get some more coffee. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning Girls

Might just have to turn on the AC this morning--Alexa says it's going to get up to 88* today! It's delightful here now with a nice breeze, but I have sneaky feeling it's going to be stinking hot by the time I get home this afternoon.

Lucky me, I get to go babysit Miss Norah Grace this morning while mom goes to run some errands for a while. I'm thinking she will sleep quite a while so I'm going to grab a book and/or some knitting to take along.

Maryz... The dishwasher issue---OMG it's a long story and I've totally lost my temper with people on the phone in some foreign country. I requested to speak to a supervisor and was told I'd get a call back with in an hour---that was Wednesday and today is Friday and I've gotten no phone call. I just don't want to call them back AGAIN and explain the whole situation AGAIN!! Hope your slide works for you in the morning!! Man this week has gone by fast!! How fun to go the vineyard where you know the owner!!

Judi... Yes I can picture Ken as Clark Kent! Tho I don't think I want to picture him in tights! Thanks for the heads up on FB! I went in and changed my password STAT!

Jana..... Makes sense that if the you can't hang clean new shirts in the closet, it's time to sort out and toss! Why is it that men seem to want to hang on to the oldest rattiest shirt! Shawn has one with worn collar and cuffs, but he just can't let it go. Granted, he doesn't wear it to work--it's probably a "house chore shirt"! Is this Mr G's first appointment at a neurologist? My BFF's husband has some of the same memory issues plus some poor decision making issues but refuses to see a neurologist. I pray for her every day!!

Valerie... Do you have a big paper map? Computer maps are fine, but I sure like to see things on paper when I'm driving a long way. Out in my garage I have a big US map pinned to the wall, and somewhere around here I have a big atlas! If you need to adjust days, no problem on my end. I'll be here!! You are welcome to do some laundry here if time permits!

Lori.... I think it's a toss up--California or Minnesota being the worst! Just check out who our governors are!

Chriss...I still think charcoal grills are the best, even tho they are messy! Shawn has one of those fancy Blackstone flat grills--he cooks just about everything on there. Even pancakes! Yeah... 4th of July with the kids. Could you find a friendly dog sitter so that you can stay for more than just the one day?

Guess I better get going so I can go hold that baby girl! I saw a picture that her other grandmother posted on Facebook yesterday--(daddy's mom) she's growing so fast! --as babies do! I have bag full of baby clothes from garage sale washed and ready to go!

Wishing you all a great great day!

Good Morning,

I am doing fine. My role in my Guild is Membership Co-Chair and it keeps me very busy.

I have a couple of suggestions for some of the questions that have been posed recently.

Starching on the floor - Try spraying the starch, say in the bathtub area, and allow the fabric to dry before ironing. You will not get it on the iron, ironing board cover or the floor.

Making a really nice satin stitch. I was reading in Secrets to Successful Sewing yesterday and read a hint and tried it out last evening. Definitely use a fusible, I just used a double layer of Misty Fuse Lite. If you have a Bernina (not an M-Class bobbin) the bobbin has a little neck on it with a hole at the top, try threading the hole with the bobbin thread. It will tighten the bobbin tension ever so slightly. I set the zig-zag stitch to 0.2 length and the width to 4.0 and had a beautiful satin stitch. (Obviously, you can try other widths.)

Hope all of your days are filled with sewing!
Carol

Good morning. What a beautiful day today is going to be. We are a little cooler today. I am thankful

Today I was going ride along while taking a friend to the doctor. But, her daughter, who was going to drive broke her wrist last night. Seems I have been promoted to driver. It will likely come with a ceremony and a certificate suitable for framing, or at least lunch. They like to go to a restaurant called Pismo's. It's in Fresno. They have some odd lunch choices so I usually get fish and chips. And, their soda's are $4.50. It will be water for me. Imagine paying around the same amount for gas as for a soda. crazy.

I am hoping to get more of the kitchen cabinets cleaned out. The cupboard doors and the drawers are always closed yet they get dusty.

Jana, sorry about the shirt sorting, sounds like you are one step ahead. I'm sure the neurologist will say he can't drive anymore. I hope you get to take time for yourself and accept help. Those are two things I didn't do and now realize that I should have.

Lori, kind of funny that you were more of an apaca's than the guide, wonder how he keeps his job? I will look into Vector. I'm going to try the hot pepper stuff first because I have everything needed on hand. After that I will be Bill Murry in Caddy Shack. I also make piles and go through them one more time.

Lyn, glad the border crossing went well.

Maryz, when I travel to my son's house, about 2 1/2 hours west of me, I make sure to have a hoodie in the car. It's often a lot cooler at his house than it is at mine. Nope, not living with the squirrels anymore. They have two choices. Move on or die. I have put things in their holes, they push it out of their way, I've recovered the holes, they either redig them or dig a new one. It's like the Martian says in the bugs bunny cartoons, This means war. Hope your brothers ct comes out good. 8 of 300, you are on your way girl.

Judi, yay, the phone booth is gone, now to spend your new found welth. Funny that to us 40 is young and 65 isn't old. Glad he will enjoy the phone booth

Valerie, so far, no PGE shut off's here. They really monitor the poles using drones and helicopters. After the Detweiler and Oak fires in this county they replaced so many poles and wires that we pretty much have new everything. Glad you are able to use the cpap. hope the sleeping issue gets resolved easily.

Maryq, not sure how long this charcoal grill will last. It was after 5pm before I got around to putting it together last night, way too late for me to eat so I had something else. Perhaps tomorrow I will use it. I probably won't spend the night with the kids. I just do the drive, it's not that far and I don't mind it at all. When you go to smooch Miss Norah Grace be sure and add 20 smooches for me, give her a cuddle too.

Carol, hi, I like when you pop in here. Thanks for the tips.

So my morning has started dwindling. I need to get some breakfast and get dressed. If there is time I will work in the kitchen but if not, I will go pick up my friend for her appointment. Her daughter is really a great gal but never ever on time. She could leave her house an hour early and still be 20 minutes late every single time.

I probably won't have dinner tonight, I will have a big lunch.

You girls have a superb day,
Chriss

65°, overcast and possible rain. A good day to do nothing.

MaryZ, Sorry to hear the slide problem, but glad Bill got it out. Hope it goes in tomorrow. How do people live in an Airstream or any RV without slides? Guess we're spoiled. Enjoy the wine tasting. As for charcuterie, I saw a cartoon that questioned, isn't that just an adult Lunchable?! Hope the BIL is OK.

Judi, I can picture the phone booth with Superman Ken emerging. There were still 2 phone booths here at Tomahawk in 2018, but we're removed when they built a new office/laundry/bathrooms building.

Jana, As you're walking that path, look to the right and see that other path, I'm on it, parallel on this journey with hubbys. I am fortunate that Garry doesn't ask to drive. He had taken care of all finances until his stroke, and then it all fell on me. But maybe it's better than having to look over his shoulder and seeing if it's getting done, which would probably take up more time than just doing it all to begin with. Hugs to you!

Valerie, I'm amazed at the number of projects you have going. Being limited in the MH, I usually only have one machine project and a couple small hand projects going at the same time. As for Alpacas, I think that was Lori and I will have to go back and read it again. Canada, why Lake of the Woods, Ontario, Canada. Back in 2002 we set off on a trip in our Truck/slide in camper to find a good place to fish and get away from the tourists in Estes Park. Minnesota and Canada is where he wanted to check out. That is how we found Tomahawk Resort at Sioux Narrows. We love it here. Went home, ordered a boat, and came back in 2003 for the summer and every summer since except the 3 Covid years. But this may be the last year, between the rising cost and Garry's not getting around well because he won't exercise.... Driving rules are the same in Canada except they use kilometers, so 55 mph equals 90 kph. Your car either has it on the dash, or you can change in settings. I think getting passports and going through Canada would be enjoyable and interesting. As for laundry, every Best Western we've stayed at has a laundry area, usually in the hall and easy to get to.

Carol, So good to see you! I have the Bernina bobbin with the little arm and just realized as I read your post, my new 9mm machine doesn't. Hmm, it will be interesting to see how it works.

Chriss, I hope the daughter doesn't slow you down getting the friend to the appt. I hope she's buying lunch. You're a good friend! As for your squirrels, maybe take my cousin's suggestion she told me at my Aunt's house. The 3 S's. Shoot, shovel, shutSister.

I'm not sure if much will get done today. I do know Minnie will want to take a long walk. She remembers this place and loves it, too. I will take my time getting the boat ready to put in the water. We're charged a weekly rate for the dock, and weather doesn't look great until Monday, so we will launch it then. The Super Box isn't working very well here in Canada, so I may work on it. But in the meantime, we stream some apps and found an interesting TV series on Tubi called Deputy.

Hope y'all have a good day.
Lyn
