SUNDAY, Nov 3rd

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Nov 03, 2024 4:59 am

Good drippy morning,

Nov 3rd. My DB arrives in Seattle sometime today. Don't think we'll see him, though. Tree Organizers are taking care of him and his partner, picking them up at airport, feeding them, hoteling them, etc. They are going to be busy picking up truck, getting tree, and city dignitaries are getting a crack at them, too, so we'll see him on Friday in Oregon. His very first 'whistle stop' to kick off their 3-week tour is Renton, just south of Seattle. That is where my son and my nephew both live so they will be there as well as a niece who is making a 100 mile trip to see Uncle Gene. Her brother and sister might come, too. Gene will see us and 2 more nephews in Oregon, and maybe his own son, and then in CO he'll find his two sisters and another niece and nephew waiting for him, not to mention more family in D.C. It will be a rolling family reunion!

TINA - I'm so happy your found shoes that work well for you. Sorry you didn't find the decorations you were looking for. I'm no fan of the inflatables either. One year, we had a large pattern for a 4-car Christmas train. Each car was about 4'x4'. We traced it onto plywood, cut it out, painted it, and stood it up in the yard. We put a single light in the engine and chasing lights in the wheels so they looked like they were turning. It was awesome! All for the cost of 2 sheets of plywood and some small cans of paint. And some lights. We had that train for years and finally gave it to a friend.

IRISH - We had friends who went to P.R. with all their family and said it was an amazing trip! And what a smartie you were to pack your summer clothes - away in your suitcase! Good luck with your craft show. I hope you make a million bucks!

CHRISS - Come to think of it, when I lived alone BB (Before Bill) I didn't like my windows uncovered at night either. Sounds like your 'friend' knows she's been shoved off the fence. Good for you. We don't eat fast food either, except maybe a Subway sandwich once a year. We don't do drive-thrus - they take too long and we're just not that lazy. And we take money to garage sales and we like chili rellenos. We can be friends! We occasionally put chili over baked potatoes and top them with onion, cheese, and sour cream. Nowadays, we split the potato though. Maybe we'll do that tonite. I have two potatoes we need to eat and leftover chili. Chili and scrambled eggs are good together, too. Did Moose notice his new dinnerware?

JANA - that is one expensive drug Tanner will be on! Is it an infusion? I hope you got to sew after everything else was done yesterday.

VAL - anything ginger is supposed to help with nausea, but as kids we often got 7-Up or Bubble-Up, too. That was the only time we got pop of any kind. And I know "back in the day" Coke syrup was also used for nausea. Are you feeling any better now since you started the antibiotics?

MARY Q - lots of folks will be in and out of our house frequently while we're gone. We don't leave it unattended. And we have 9 security cameras and they are good ones. With sound. Plus we have signs all over the property and on the house stating that we have those cameras. No worries - my stash is well guarded. When we recarpeted 10 years ago I was able to put a ton of sewing room stuff into the bathroom right across the hall. I filled my tub with stacks of fabric 5 feet tall. Saved me having to carry it all through the house and fill up my kitchen with it. I also put my plastic iris carts in the bathroom, books, and so much else. Bathrooms can hold a lot!

JUDI - you had a very full day yesterday! You were probably tired, but doesn't it feel good to do some normal things again? How was Navy yesterday? Amara is turning 19 months and we can see from pictures and videos they sent that we'll be on the run with her this year.

LYN - glad you made it to the house! Hope you get a few days rest, though I know your tractor is probably arriving today, via your DB. After he leaves you'll have a whole new list of things to do! I think you are like me - not very good at just sitting and relaxing.

LOIS - did you take the weekend off? You've been very quiet lately. I hope you are well.

Yesterday we ran our errands. Then I loaded the trailer freezer and cleaned the house freezer. I filled it with plastic wrapped paper towels. Freezers function much more economically if they are full and we leave it on while we're gone. My sis used to have a big freezer but not much food so that's where she stored all her paper goods. Then I went through quilts for Aut's quilt show and loaded 31 into the various nooks and crannies. Wrapped each in a white plastic trash bag. Now to figure out ways to hang or display them. And hopefully there is a locked room at the library where they can be stored until the show. An idea struck me in a "duh" moment yesterday. My brother has always worn a hanky around his neck. It's just who he is. So I went through my stash, found Christmas tree fabric, and made him and his partner, John, each 2 new Christmas tree hankies to wear on their tree adventure. But I had to go out to the trailer to find my scissors, thread, and a bobbin. lol! Today - Seahawks play. After last week, I don't hold out much hope for this week, but still - they are our team and we'll be rooting for them!

Have a good Sunday!

Good morning,,,I slept throught the extra hour of daylight savings time...Made it through the night with only one early morning potty stop. I was busy yesterday,,,but today will be busier...Ken had to run up to the rink to check the ice...Hockey player count on good ice for their games....When he gets home we will head out to breakfast,,then to Rykers hockey game at 11. Then after that we head over to my oldest sons house for a visit too...We get to see GG kid No 3 all in the same day...Yes Mary it is today we see them. Terrible 2s and 3s.
I did get some sewing done yesterday and I have 4 more strip sets to do then the cutting them up begins...
Tomorrow I see the surgeon for the last time I think...I believe he does a follow up in 6 months but maybe not...I probably have 2-3 more weeks of therapy and I actually think I will miss it...they are so nice and I feel it is working,,,I am not using a cane or a walker anymore and have given up most of the other equipment...I do still ice my knee after excersizes..and we still have the shower chair but i will try to get rid of that too It is another thing to clean. I still havent gotten into the car drivers side yet,,,seem to have a little fear there but Im sure it will pass///I have holiday stuff to do. and I need to be on it....
I hope you all have a great day,,,,I am praying for Tanner and all the others here with health issues,,,I hate to see a teen with life altering stuff....My DDs nieghbor girl was 13 when diagnosied with RA...she was treated with meds and just graduated from college with a degree in physical therapy...she is doing great.
Please keep My DDIl in your prayers,,,we are scared and worried for her going through a life altering procedure also...But with God and your prayers we are hoping her outcome is great...

Good morning everyone ๐ŸŒž
Mary, I think the saying "a rolling stone gathers no moss" fits you perfectly, you're always on the go doing something. I was so happy to find shoes too, this place has only been in business for 5 years but I'm really loving my shoes! I'm back in a size 8 too, I haven't been able to wear a size 8 for at least 20 years because they just didn't fit me right, these do ๐Ÿ˜
Those neck hankies will be awesome for your brother and the other driver! Gosh, they'll probably have their pics in all kinds of newspapers and on the Internet and be in the news, how cool ๐Ÿ˜ is that!
Judi, I'm so glad you've gotten your mobility back! Sounds like you're going to have the perfect day โค๏ธ Elijah is 2 and oh my goodness, that little boy just makes us wonder what he thinks up in his little head, he's a hoot but boy can he come up with some doozies! Prayers for your DDIL ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™
Rosie woke us up whining at 3 and I think I was starting to doze off at 4 but something set her off barking which she has never done at night before. She only does it in the daytime if someone is here, so needless to say I couldn't go back to sleep. I'm pretty sure a nap will find me today.
We're supposed to get rain today and it's going to be a windy day so it might be a stay in stay at home day. We have leftover soup for supper.
You all have a great day! Prayers for those in need ๐Ÿ™
Tina

Good morning from Sunrise Beach, TX. Overcast and 75ยฐ.

We got home just after 7 last evening. There was still enough light that I pulled the trailer next to the Cabin and it's unhooked. Jeep is partly unloaded. My brother, Larry (& Mary) got to Amarillo yesterday afternoon. They'll be here today.

My resting up will have to wait a day or two. I'm not sure what my brother's plans are after we unload the Tractor. I will sweep floors this morning and Swiffer the dust. I'm going to run to Llano and get Cooper's BBQ for our dinner. With the time change, I'm not sure if DB is running on Mtn or Central, either way he's an early bird.

Time to shower and get moving. I will be back later to read. Have a Blest day.

Good morning!

Time for the great clock change here! We have 18 that need changing. Some are automatic and do it themselves, which is very nice!

Matt and Crenda are flying to Florida today and leave from there on their cruise over to the Yucatan area. Right as a hurricane is brewing. They'll be home next Saturday. Speaking of next Saturday, we'll get to see and meet Gene and the tree. Sarah and I are taking 6 of the grands with us. Ethan, Emma, Baden, Karlie, Lila and Gracie. We are all getting excited! I caught a glimpse of a news story on the tree arriving here. I know the whole story that the news doesn't! ๐Ÿ˜€ wonder if Gene likes cookies?

Today is church. We are singing a new hymn. The new hymn gave me fits for a time, but I have been practicing and Mr G printed out a large size copy for me, I can see the notes! We'll muddled through. Then home, sew and look to see if my 49ers game is on here. I doubt it, but will look.

It's raining, but the temperatures will drop and we'll get snow. Daniel has concrete to make and pour over in Sandee's basement. The plumber moved a drain pipe, that was in the basement floor, so Daniel needs to fill that all in. Daniel has a mixer and will disassemble it, take the pieces down, and reassemble to use. Repeat process when done. Then he'll do the landing area of my deck steps.

Awhile ago my house number plaque fell off the space above the garage door and broke into several pieces. I'm very happy to say it can't be glues and repaired. I have a tan house red shutters, red brick, with white trim, the stupid builder made the number plaque gray! I've always destesred that. So now I found a place here that cuts and makes metal quilt blocks for barns. That's what is going up there above the garage door. Where the old numbers were, left a mark of the glue, so I can hide that with the quilt block. The house numbers will go on a post in the front yard. Usually a mailbox goes there, but we have a community box up around the corner. Don't get me started on that, it's another pet peeve! LOL!

Enjoy your day, do fun stuff!

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning all
Sorry I have not been here. I have been busy with farm sale details . And trying to rid my life with junk.
The surveyor has been on the farm for several days. It seems that I own a piece of my brother in laws farm ,not a big piece but has to be accounted for. Hopefully when this done we can close the deal. I am hoping before Christmas. The other farm is for sale too. DBIL is in a nursing home. His daughters decided to sell it too. But want way too much for it.
My junk is moving out but not fast enough to suit me. I need a plumber I have a leak in the bathroom tub. And the yard looks like xxxx. O well I am going to forget all that and enjoy the holidays and sew. LOL  Larry the guy who is buying the farm ground said he would help me clean up my yard. And is working on finding me a plumber. Thank goodness for nice people.
I started decorating for Christmas . So far I have the bathroom, my bedroom and the entrance way done. My sister is supposed to come today to put up the tree I will decorate later this week. Thats about all the news I have.
Tina I too have to have special Tennis shoes. Cant wear my sandels because they let my foot roll in. I got up at 430 but it was actually 5:30 . So I went to doing chores . clearing out my fall deco in living room.
Judi I am so glad to here your making progress. Its great your up and around again. I am afraid I may have to have my knee done. Its really creeking bad.
Lyn Glad you survived your trip. Now rest.
Maryz Wish your brother was coming through Illinois. I would love to see that tree and him.
Well guys its back to the grind.
You all have a GREAT SEWING DAY

PS Barney is doing great

Good morning Girls
A bit on the dreary side here this morning, but then again it is November and the trees are bare and the sun is hiding under the clouds.

Maryz.... I'd store stuff in the bathtub in my main bathroom if it wasn't already full of batting and Misc. pieces of fabric!  But I'll be able to roll all my little carts of thread etc into that bathroom for safe keeping. How exciting for you to be able to catch up with Gene along his route. Do you know what local TV stations might be covering it along the way. I'd sure like to keep watch. It would be a hoot if I could see Gene in the hankies you made for him! My BFF's son lives in Grand Junction and has 2 little boys so I told her to tell him to take the kids to see the tree when it stops there.

Judi... Can you keep going to PT if you want for a little while longer? I suppose if you go on your own insurance won't cover it. I think the trick is to keep doing the exercises even after official PT. is done. How fun to see all those grandbabies on the same day. Terrible two's? One thing nice about being a Gramma.. you don't have to deal with it on a daily basis! We've been there, done that right? Somedays it's a toss up---which is worse Terrible Two's or Terrible Teens.

Tina... What kind of shoes did you get? When I was working and had to stand all day I think I tried every pair of shoes out there, even ones with a big spiral coil in the heal. Now I'm a Sketchers gal and glad there is an outlet store 2 miles from my house. Which kind of reminds me that I need a pair... though I'd like something cute that doesn't look like "granny shoes"

Lyn...Glad you made it home safe and sound.

Jana... Woke up this morning thinking about all the clocks that need to be changed around here too 4 in the kitchen alone. Oh and about 35 wrist watches--it's my collection!  Before you leave off your house numbers off your house, you might want to check with your city. Here it's code that you have reflective numbers on the house itself. I think it's a fire/emergency thing. You hate gray as much as I hate beige!!

KATY!!!! So good to see you! I was beginning to worry about you but kind of thought you would be busy with stuff going on at the farm. Glad to hear all is progressing. And happy that you got a surveyor to properly mark your land. My Shawn is a surveyor and is that guy that goes out marks stuff. Mostly he does it for commercial properties, but he's surveyed my old house lot and discovered he has more than he thought! Hope all goes well, and that things can be wrapped up before the end of the year.

Chriss.... Your "friend" in a way sounds like my KC!! You are right to set boundaries. It is hard because we want to be helpful and kind. But if she is aware of how she is about shopping etc and doesn't seem to care that it's an inconvenience for you... then it's good you step away. You don't know how happy I am that KC moved far far away!! Oh how I could love new blinds too, love the honeycomb ones, but I like to be able to see OUT the windows, so am thinking when I do get to get new ones, I might go with wood slat ones. But that's a long way off. For now I'm stuck with ugly BEIGE ones!!

Started cleaning out the sewing room a bit yesterday. Today Shawn will come over the help me move some of the heavy stuff. You wouldn't think it but fabric is really stinkin' heavy!!! I have a couple big tote boxes on the floor in my closet that I sure can't lift! I will have to leave one sewing machine set up so I can sew tomorrow. My Little Purses is done, so I might try to get the borders on that, as soon as I find something in my stash that will work!

Better get a move on, there's lots to move out of the sewing room and I need more coffee to get it done!

Wishing you all the best today! Prayers all around!

Good morning. It's going to be a wonderful day today. I plan to load my car with stuff for the thrift store so I can take a load tomorrow. And after a few chores I want to sew.

Last night was all souls night, I like this event. My parents were there and they really walk slowly so a lot of it was missed. It was their first time and I am not sure it was what they thought it was. I also ran into a few people I knew from high school (graduated in 1981) it was fun.

O'Dorothy, what fun to go to dinner with your sister, I bet it was marvelous. Hoping you sell out at the craft fair and have to go home with empty totes. I'm leaning towards those insulated honeycomb shades, although miniblinds would work too. Like you, they are open except with the sun shines in too brightly. Funny Jim was glad that you couldn't move the bathroom fixtures, he was worried he'd have no place to sit.

Maryz, the quilt show at the library will be cool. Nice of you to make hankies for the tree haulers. You passed the friend test a long long time ago, even before I knew you liked chili rellenos and took cash to yard sales. I also park and walk in instead of using a drive thru. I'm not a big egg eater. They just don't fill me up. I will add boiled eggs to a salad but don't often have them scrambled. I do like a fried egg on a leftover enchilada.

Judi, prayers are said for DDIL. I really hope this works for her, she's certainly a fighter isn't she? And look at you walking without a cane. You go girl. Before you know it you'll be walking briskly and trotting up the stairs. Fun to get to see the kids and grands, and a hocky game too. It is pretty darn good to be you.

Tina, wonder what Rosie was barking at? I've been thinking of soup lately. I'll have to find some low carb recipes. You know you're losing weight when your feet start fitting in your old shoes.

Lyn, nice that it was light enough for you to get home and parked. I'm sure DB will love a bbq dinner.

Jana, so? which quilt block did you pick to go above the garage? I have a post that has my reflective address numbers hanging on a green sign. It's a white post thing Jerry made. It needs paint and I'd like to replace the green sign. The existing numbers just aren't as reflective as they used to be. But while Jerry was sick the FD and EMT's found us in the dark. I don't seem to have as many clocks as I used to have. I do have 3 in the kitchen. The coffee maker and landline phone dont' get changed. I did fail to change the clocks on my little weather station things. Guess I need to add that to my list.

Katy, glad the new owner is a kind person. Nice to have helpers. I have gone through round one of clearing out the junk, and now round two begins. Funny how I used to need so many things and now I need so much less. Times change.

Maryq, Shawn is a good kid to help his mom. I met my friend through church. Now she is looking for a new church so she was likely put in my life when I needed someone to be there. She and her husband have done dump runs for me a couple of times. I found someone who will do my dump stuff so I'm good there. I'm also thinking honeycomb shades. I have them through out the house but nothing matches. Mini blinds would break and we'd get the honey comb's to replace them. I want my house to match.

It's a breezy day outside, I really haven't been out in it but think I will wait. I might just go into town and pick up a few things i need and do the thrift store donation on Tuesday when I go in for a doctors appointment and get the results from my yearly bloodwork.

Dinner last night was hamburgers, I have one patty left so it will probably be hamburger salad tonight.

I hope you all have a marvy day,
Chriss

Happy Sunday, didn't make a lot of progress yesterday on the pillow. Didn't understand the cutting and now I think I have enough for about 4 pillows. That's okay, I could use more than one pillow. Ended up watching Holiday movies on Hallmark most of the day. Still having coughing spells. Can't really tell yet if breathing is better. I may do the same thing today. Slept hard last night after Nyquil dose. I did get the counters and sink done this AM. Resting now and will polish the front of the dishwasher and still need to do the stove top. Should throw a load in the washer.

Currently 54, sunny and should get to 70. I think the hot weather may now be done. Don't see much breeze. We still have leaves on the trees. Not sure what that means.

Well not much else to talk about. Will try to check back later.

Greetings, all -

My heart has decided not to behave - I canโ€™t walk 10โ€™ without starting to black out. Iโ€™ll call the cardiologist tomorrow because Iโ€™m fairly sure itโ€™s one of the new drugs. I will also call the electrophysiologist to see if I can get my ablation moved up. Iโ€™ll pop in when I can. xoxo
