SUPPER CLUB - Wednesday, Sept 13

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Sep 13, 2023 5:21 am

Good morning,

We were up early (0315) on coyote watch. Courtesy of Mr. Dog. Owls and coyotes are his bane. So we're getting an early start to our day. And after tossing and turning for 2 hours I had just gotten back to sleep. 🥱 Bill mumbled that he'd heard Foxy's cat flap so I assumed he went outside, so I went looking for him, dog on leash, flashlight in hand. Walked all over calling him and finally gave up and went back inside where I finally found him sitting on the halfway above our stairway, watching me. Argghhh... Pets!

We ended up at Costco yesterday to get four plastic 44 gal totes to pack things into the trailer bins. We looked at countertop air fryer/toaster ovens. I really miss our little toaster oven that died after 16 years. We took measurements and came home and made a paper template to see how it would fit on our countertop. The one I'd REALLY like is way too big for our kitchen. But the smaller one - which was almost as good - would work. So we might be going back to Costco soon. We tried the Ninja Foodie air fryer last year but didn't like it at all so we gave it to my grandson.

LORI - I'm guessing you got more cleaning done yesterday than I did! The squirrels in this house are monstrous! But at least other things are getting done. Loved your quilts! Both of them are beautiful. I can't decide which one I like best!

BECCA - Did you go see the mini-horses? Autumn's library had some last year. Boy, were they popular! Kids loved them! I managed a few photos from a crowded distance. They were also used for therapy. So cute! What kind of purses are you painting? Coin? Clutch? And what are you painting on them? Are they for Christmas gifts? They will be special!

Yesterday in Sew-in Chriss mentioned tamale pie from the recipe on the Albers Cornmeal box. I have that recipe! And I haven't made it for a while, so that's the plan for tonite.

What's your plan?

Good Morning!

Maryz - I have a Handi-Quilter Sweet 16 which is a stationary sit down. I do not have a frame. I do use a hoop to hold the quilt steady.

We did not like the Ninja and purchased a toaster oven by Breville last year. We use it all the time and love it. The Ninja did not bake or toast and I missed the toaster oven we had that had stopped working. Breville does recommend you purchase a cutting board to place on top and we did buy it.

I received the Nativity Set the other day and have been working on it. I watched the video this morning.

Becca - How cool that they brought therapy mini-horses for all of you. Hope you got to see them. I am curious are you painting purses or a painting with purses?

Lori - Your quilts are beautiful.

Yesterday we had a meeting about our medical insurance. We get medical from the company DH worked and they are eliminating the HMO's they offered and going with an insurance brokerage firm. We can keep the PPO we have but we want to look at the options. It is going to be quite a process. They are going to set up a phone appointment with us which we must confirm. We need to set up an account and give all doctor and prescription information so they can tell us which plans would suit us best before we make a decision.

Dinner last night was dinner out and then a short trip to Costco. Dinner tonight will be from the freezer I think, or I will make a pot of soup.

Carol

Mary, Foxy was wondering what the heck you were doing. lol We have a toaster oven.
It's not very big, but I like it much better than a toaster. Bill, not so much. But then he doesn't cook, so he doesn't use it for other things like I do.

Carol, sorry you're having to deal with insurance stuff. That is not fun.

Becca, glad you got the bill taken care of. It's so frustrating when you have to deal with things because of other peoples errors.

I had to call County animal services, because they changed the date of when Jack's license is due. Jack and Wrigley were licensed on the same day, then this year Jack's was 3 1/2 weeks earlier. When I called they said his rabies and license date didn't match, so somebody changed it. They don't have to match. I told him to change it back, and he did. My time wasted because of stupid people.

I pulled out my finished tops to see how many I have. I have 10. I've been ironing and piecing backs today. I need to get a few layered, quilted, and out of my way. I really want to start a new quilt, but I need to finish up a few first. BTW our weather is absolutely wonderful. Finally.

Dinner will be chili, because it's easy.

Have a lovely evening.
Lori 8-)
