SUPPER CLUB - Monday, July 31st
Good morning,
The early mornings are starting to feel a little like fall. Hate to see summer winding down, but know cooler temps would be welcome in most of the country. Our owls are being chatty and sociable this morning. Two of them were right off our deck, checking me out. They are so curious. And cute.
Yesterday morning was a flurry of housework, sheets, and sewing. In the afternoon Bill worked on HSH swap and I worked on Catholes. I think both will be finished today. We'll see - His Q-bot was acting funny yesterday so that may slow his roll a bit.
LORI - I Googled that quilt - does it look like a starburst? A very ambitious project! In the words of our illustrious leader, "You go, girl!" Will you be using similar colors/fabrics or are you going rogue? We love line dancing. I hope you like it, too. We met in dance classes (each going with different partners at first). We eventually taught many line dances, though we've forgotten most of them now.
IRISH - A book on the back deck sounds like a nice way to while away a warm afternoon. I've never know weeds that wouldn't wait! I hope the camera is all that the storms damaged at your sister's camp. I bet your yard is beautiful!
BECCA - nice to be able to get garden fresh veggies! We have a small farmers market here on Thursdays, but there's very little parking available. It's a mile away which isn't a bad walk, but it's all downhill and I swear it's 2 miles walking back UP that hill! So I don't go very often. And we did have a full-time, though seasonal fruit/veggie stand 1-1/2 miles the other direction WITH a parking lot, but it closed this year. So it's the grocery store for us. Sorry your chicken with apple sressing wasn't wonderful. Our good friends, Warren & Lois, lived in a place much like yours. We often went and had dinner with them and could order off a menu just like in a restaurant. Dishes could be wonderful one time and so-so another time. I think it depended on who was working in the kitchen that day.
CAROL - your Sunday sounds relaxing and leisurely. Did you get your walk in? I have walked every weekday for the past 25 or so years, Always as early in the morning as I can because otherwise I don't do it.
We have extra grilled chicken left over so tonite I think I'll make pesto linguini with chicken and broccoli and olives tossed in. One of our boondockers gave us a jar of lemon pesto sauce. I'm curious to see what it tastes like,
What's going on your menu for tonite?

Good morning all!
Well it's still morning as I start this but I bet it'll take me more than 5 minutes to post.
I was getting caught up on reading. Baking for 3 days and yesterday was a recoup day for me plus I didn't sleep 4 hours Saturday night. I was a snail yesterday. I did get all the bedclothes washed and even the 2 quilts washed and dried on the line so not a total worthless day.
We had excitement of the bad kind yesterday...a brush fire and it was coming straight for us. We were watching, ready to leave, sent Jazmyne home with her car and then they sent in planes to put something on it twice and it really helped and then the wind shifted to south and took us and all houses out of the path. Whew
It stinks outside today. BLM was out checking out where it burned earlier. All that flooding last year made for great growth and lots to burn on state/fed land.
Mary, I hope your quilts get finished today, sounds like a fun finish to me. I've had a huge owl fly over us at night and the whoosh from its wings was amazing! I love owls but not when they get small dogs and cats. Yours sounds so entertaining.
Becca, I hope they get the kinks out and do better. That would make things better I'm thinking.
Carol, changing the way we eat can be challenging and expensive, we try to eat healthy and with having to do cheaper it's difficult..... we don't get as much bang for our bucks anymore.
Lori, happy anniversary late, sorry about that.
Irish, you've been having some full days.
We're having chicken for supper, not sure if Dad's coming over because he got his chemo Friday and has been throwing up night and day Saturday and Sunday. He goes for another injection tomorrow I believe it is. He had to have an IV Wednesday of stuff to boost his immune system before his chemo because his immune system was nothing.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, July 31st
Good late afternoon from warm, sunny but pleasant, SW. Pa.....Today is just about perfect and like you Mary, hate to see summer leave us....Today is a very happy day in our family.....Nick is on the ground in N. Carolina, headed for his base in Pensacola, his wife, Trisha finally received all her paperwork from Poland and will be able to fly over soon and tomorrow, Coco, their fur baby will be winging his way towards Pensacola...Will be so glad to get them all in the same place....
Kevin was over and took care of the grass and helped with a few odd jobs...He is so funny, keeps saying, how in the world did he ever have time to work.....During the night, he had a call from his oldest son, Emma's dad, saying he and Emma's Mom were both really sick so off he went...He ended up taking April to the ER but they think it was just a 12 hour thing...Emma slept through the whole thing, thank goodness....
Mary, I agree with Becca, no one does quilts faster than you...I'm still trying to decide on fabric and you have yours quilted.....Along with everything else you do, I keep telling everyone, I want to be just like you when I grow up.......It seems the storm messed the solar system on the camera and they had to order a new one....We were hoping it wasn't her son...He's still telling everyone, the camp is his although, it's a family camp and is in my sister's name...No one understands his reasoning....Kevin told her, he'd buy it but give her life time usage and also stipulate who else gets to use it...I'm sure that would go over big, lol.....
Becca, your place really does sound so nice...To be able to swim and also walk to a lake, that's great....We do have a few such places around here and as yours, there is a long waiting list.....Your supper does sound tempting.......
Tina, I can just imagine how scary a fire that close could be....Thank goodness it changed course.....I heard just the other day, our area is still in a drought zone....Hard to believe with all the rain we've been having...Would be nice if Mother Nature would get back on her meds and settle down.....Did I miss it but wasn't the party this past weekend? And if so, did you post pictures?
Well, I need to get outside and gather up the weeds I've pulled...The yard looks so nice when Kevin mows and the flowers are blooming like crazy...But, Ruby still has a very bad habit of pulling into every greenhouse or nursery when we're driving and I really don't have any more room.....
I have no idea what might be on my menu tonight...If nothing else, cereal or part of a frozen pizza....One of these days, I really need to get to a farmer's market and get some goodies.....
You all have a great rest of the day......
Happy eating...............

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, July 31st
Good Afternoon,
I did get the final border on the Halloween Quilt this morning. Pardon the loose threads on the quilt. It still needs some embellishment. The cats need bows and I think mouths lol.

Maryz- Yes, I did get a walk in yesterday. I had a wonderful day! After sewing this morning and lunch I had planned to go to the gym. However, DH just told me there is a traffic jam on the street to get there. They have been working on a traffic light for several months now and just when I think they are almost done it takes several more weeks! UUGG! Those owls sound very cute.
Becca - Do relax and get your BP down.
Tina - Actually I think I may be spending less on groceries but need to "stockpile" some staples. Over time it should cost me less. Glad the party was a success and glad you rested.
Irish - I go to a large Farmer's market on Tuesday's. The peaches are out of this world delicious in the summer.
Dinner tonight will be a green salad and Barley Casserole dish.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, July 31st
Carol, I used to have that pattern, but never made it. I might still have it somewhere.
Mary, owls are trippy birds. We used to have one living in a tall pine tree behinds us. It was a barn owl.
We'd see it fly at dust and it's wingspan was amazing. I'm trying to figure out the pre sewing instructions.
It's not a very user friendly pattern. I'm just taking the class for fun, but not having much fun yet.
Becca, you have a lake too? Dang it's good to be you.
Irish, I've been working on flower beds too. Seems like I just get one done and then start over again.
Tina, glad the wind shifted. That sounds scary. Sounds like the party was a hit.
Did my dad's grocery shopping this morning and Jack took me for a walk. Went to the movies this afternoon to see Oppenheimer. " It was very good.
I think we're doing are own thing for dinner tonight, which means cereal for me.
Have a lovely evening.
