SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, July 30
Good morning,
It's going to be a pretty day here. My big plan is to strip the bed and wash the sheets, hanging them on the lines to dry. Going to bed with fresh line-dried sheets is such a treat! Also in my plan of the day is to clean downstairs. Yesterday we did upstairs. I left time to sew though! And will again today.
We were talking about Bob Ross, the painter. I knew he had a history different from the persona he projected on TV but Googled him to refresh my memory. He was born in FL, dropped out of school in 9th grade, worked as his dad's carpenter assistant for 3 yrs and then joined the Air Force. He spent 20 years in the military and came out as a Master Sergeant. His job was often to yell at recruits and he hated that so he swore when he got out he would never yell again. He learned to paint while serving in Fairbanks, Alaska as a way to augment his income. He also decided he could save money on haircuts by letting his hair grow after discharge and thus his iconic hair style was born. He hated it but by the time he had money for haircuts again, it was part of his established personage so he lived with it. He died in 1995 in Orlando at age 52 of cancer. His son now teaches his style of painting. Bob always painted 3 of each painting he did on TV - one he did before filming so he had a reference while filming, the one he did on air, and then he did a more professhional one to be photographed for his books. And yes he could do a painting in 1/2 hour. His shows were filmed in real-time, only an occasional blooper being edited out - like if he knocked over his easel.
CAROL - you are really putting a lot of effort into your diet changes. Good for you! Unfortunately, for me, Mediterranean diet means pasta! I love it! lol! But I do try to limit it and I steer clear of creamy sauces - or I make them using much lower fat ingredients. And yes, Boric Acid is a must have at our house and in our trailer. We get a lot of ant hills here and if they are close to the house, we dump boric acid on them. End of ants. If they build their homes in the woods, they get to live, but not close to the house. We've occasionally had fire ant problems in Tex so we put a line of boric acid around our trailer, especially where electrical cord and water hose touch the ground. I've heard some people put a line at the back of their kitchen cabinets to treat pests. We've not done that. Best of all - it's harmless to us and to our pets. So God bless the good folks at US Borax!
BECCA - your ladies luncheon sounds nice. A great way to make new friends in your new church! And how great that the church gives away the veggies from their garden! Is there a special guild that takes care of the garden? Sorry to hear about the gout. My older sister suffers from it sometimes, too.
LORI - What a nice supper out you had! Happy Anniversary! We'll be celebrating 32 in Feb. A warm butter cake sounds delish! What is the class you are taking in August? You probably told us, and I try to remember stuff, but some things slip through the holes in my head.
TINA - I hope you swing by the table! How was the party last night?
I have no clue about our supper. Maybe we'll grill chicken and make a potato/onion packet also on the grill. And a salad. That sounds like a good plan to me!

Mary, I watched a documentary about Bob Ross recently. It was very interesting. The class is Kaleidoscope Bargello with Jeff Warner. Just for fun to try something different. No really my thing.
I cut all the strips for my project yesterday. While I was cutting, I pulled out some scraps and cut up some squares and hst's for August lotto.great way to use up scraps.
Later I'm going to go learn line dancing. My friend hired a teacher to come to her house. I've tried several times, but just can't seem to get it. Maybe this time it will stick. Got to get ready to take the boys to the park this morning.
Dinner will be something on the grill tonight.
Have a lovely day.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, July 30
Good afternoon from sunny but slightly cooler (82) SW Pa.....The humidity has to be down because it actually feels good outside...So why am I inside????Did think Kevin might stop over and do the grass and also thought maybe I'd battle some weeds, also thought maybe I should round up some dust bunnies and then I thought, just maybe a glass of iced tea and my book on the back deck might be the way to go...But, all is not lost, I did throw a small load in the washer.....
Yesterday, went on a quick trip to camp to check the security camera...Seems a storm had messed it up so she ordered another which means, come Sat., might take another trip....We did have a good day, between showers, met with friends and of course had to stop a couple of times to eat......
Mary, I remember you telling us about the Borax Acid before and I'm sure I used it in the last house...I'll have to remember to get some, just in case.....AND, loved reading about Bob Ross, quite interesting...I've copied what you wrote and will send it to Terry.....Your dinner sounds delicious and has given me an idea...But, till it's time to make it, who knows what might show up on my table.......After almost 4 years, tomorrow my Nick if flying back to this side of the pond...I might not see him until he gets settled a little bit but I'm so excited!
Becca, Love reading all the things you've been doing...They seem to have quite a few activities going on...And to be able to get fresh veggies, wonderful......My 2 little tomato plants have started producing and almost every day, I get a small, but nice one...I think my sister and I are going to hit a farmer's market one day this week.....
Well, gotta go, my next door neighbor needs some potting soil...We don't have big yards but she has every inch planted with flowers (and my kids say, I'm trying to keep up with her, lol)....But, our corner of the street is very pretty....The more the merrier, right.....
As I said, Mary's dinner sounds good but we'll see...Maybe I'll get an offer I can't refuse......
You all have a great rest of the day.....
Happy eating....................

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, July 30
Good Afternoon,
Sundays are such wonderful days of the week! I get up take my bone pill and wait for an hour. Then I go in make the bed and get dressed then I make breakfast. Today we had Scrambled eggs with Turkey Sausage, biscuits and Fresh Strawberries. A couple of hours later we go to Mass. Then we have a light lunch. The rest of the day is ours to do as we please. Today I chose to sew together a Halloween Quilt. I need to put the final two borders on it. Dinner was leftover Vegetable Soup. I also called my nephew who is celebrating his birthday today and by good friend. I have had a wonderful day. I still need to go out for a walk, but decided to wait until it cooled down.
Irish - What did you decide to do? Your day yesterday sounds like fun!
Becca - Glad you got some fresh vegetables!
Lori - Well did the line dance lesson stick? Sounds like fun!
Maryz - Did you get the house all clean? Guess you will be able to sew all day tomorrow.
Dinner is over. The soup was wonderful.
Carol
