SUPPER CLUB - Fourth of July!

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Jul 04, 2023 7:33 am

Good morning,

I hope I do better with this post than my Sew-in, which I accidentally deleted just as I was ready to hit submit. Sigh. Sometimes it's hard to be me.

So, happy Fourth of July!! What a great day this is! We started with a little game with one of our young owls. They are so cute and fun! Then Mama appeared on a larger limb further away, called, and away they all went! But they'll be back later today or tomororw, I'm sure.

Yesterday morning was all chores and the afternoon was all sewing. A good division. But my iron died. To be honest, I was glad to see the last of it as it disappeared into the garbage. I've never liked that iron and a new one will be here tomorrow. Tina's iron also died but it went out with much more flash. Literally!! She just had to top me!

Today will be mostly food prep for our BBQ tonite. Our Boondockers are arriving this afternoon and will be joining us so we'll be 8 people. We're ready except for last minute stuff. Mrs. Boondocker is a quilter and has already told us that she wants to see my quilts, etc., so I will have to get my play room and the quilt room, since that's where OWL is, ready for show. Trust me when I say that right now, they are NOT!

LORI - you will enjoy your trip, I know! The distillery is vodka, I think. Many flavors and they give out drink recipes. I'm not sure if it's west of Bend or west of Sisters. Bend and Sisters are only about 17 miles apart. And there is at least one llama farm that is open to the public. Tours, pet the animals, and buy the yarn. Our friends went and loved it! I hope the grocery delivery worked well for your dad and DB.

BECCA - sounds like you are being very watchful of what you eat! I like broccoli soup, but I also like pasta. :D I hope you got your towel bar fixed. Nice to be able to just call and have things like that repaired.

CAROL - your mom was really a fighter! Glad you have her genes! Well, except for the breast ca one. Thank you for the sweet words about Amara. Mary Q said she met another baby girl yesterday who was named Amara! And I just read a book last month with a character named Amara. It's catching on!

TINA - what a potentially awful bummer about your iron! Funny, both our irons died at the same time, but your story was much more exciting. Do you have a back-up iron? I have an old-fashioned-looking Black and Decker, though it's not old. But there is no lid on the water resevoir and the hot water bubbles up and out, spilling all over my hands and my project. This is not good! So it's going back on the Use Only In Case of Emergency shelf and my new one will be here tomorrow - hopefully. So, how are you going to rearrange your sewing room? Your window faces south, does it not? Does afternoon heat hit that window?

Well, I think I've mentioned already that we are having Johnsonville Brats on the grill - Beddar Cheddar and Jalapeno Cheddar. Also saurkraut (I really need to learn how to spell that), German potato salad, and baked beans. Also deviled eggs, cheese & crackers, peanuts in the shell, and Coconut Cake and ice cream bars for afters. Will will also have a cooler for wine, beer, a variety of non-alch drinks, plus water. Folks are bringing the potato salad and the beans and some of the drinks. 5pm for any of you who want to join us!

What are you having for your Fourth?

Good morning 🌞
Happy 4th of July 🎆✨
Mary, love hearing about your owls, so cute. Guess momma wanted them to learn something this morning instead of play.
Yep, both our irons died and Chriss' coffee maker died too.
Mine was a black and decker and it was over 7 years old. I do have a new Shark brand that I got at kohl's a couple years ago for kohl's cash, so I consider it free LOL it was still in the box. It's a very pretty gray and red.
Today is rearrange my sewing room day. I gave up on a mini split for my sewing room for now and I have a window unit coming to put in. So to make it more open and window AC air flow better I'm moving the LA to the west wall as you walk into my sewing room, so straight in as you walk in, my sewing machine will be in the NE corner to the left of the door, my green narrow bookcase will be to the west of that and immediately left of the door, my cutting table will be to the east/ left of the window so it'll all be opened up. Hopefully LOL
Your party sounds fun! Enjoy!
It'll just be Frankie and me this year, Holly and hers are in San Diego and Frankie is taking care of their animals. Kevin and his are staying home and watching fireworks there, they usually do anyways.
We'll have a burger on the grill and maybe paper plates so no clean up and we have salad. Then we'll go watch the City's fireworks display. We have to go to Holly's to put her doggies inside before dark because they're afraid of fireworks. On or way back home we'll stop and let them out to potty and then put them up for the night.
Happy 4th🎆🇺🇸

Good morning!

Happy 4th of July!

Put a good update on Michael in Sew in this morning. Sarah is stopping by in a few minutes as she heads up to see him. My leg is complaining, so I'm staying home. Plus there's no place for me to sit in the CICU room. The nurses will have Michael sitting up today. Also none of the usual bloating or kidney problems after this surgery. They are happy with that. Oh, the heart is pumping and working like nothing went on yesterday! Whoo hoo!

So dinner will be just me, Smokey and the fish. I have a ribeye in the freezer, Smokey will have her favorite pate, and the fish will dine on their flakes.

I think it's a good thing to be here tonight with all the fireworks going off. A neighbor just the other side of the horse pasture, my back fence to the pasture, roof shows a very large burn spot, either a attic fire or a stray firework. Anyway, too close for me! It's actually illegal to shoot off fireworks in my house vicinity. Up the street, it's legal, but not by me due to the agricultural field. There are restrictions like that all over, to which are totally ignored.

Sarah just stopped , grabbed Michael's phone and glasses. She's heading up for a short visit and will give them back to him. In switching rooms, I held on, so not to lose them. So I'll get a better report later.

Enjoy the festivities!
Hugs,
Jana

Good Evening,

Maryz - Sounds like you have a very nice party planned for this evening. I am sure you are enjoying it as I write this evening. Sorry about your iron.

Tina - Glad Holly is on a bit of a trip to San Diego. Are they going to Sea World or Lego Land or the Zoo? I should map out your room, hope the rearrangement works for you. You had quite a to do with your iron! I would have thought it would stop once unplugged too!

Jana - Seems like they totally ignore the laws against fireworks here. Believe me I feel so bad for the animals. Michael will be glad to get his phone and glasses back.

Becca - Sounds like you make good food choices. I had brownies today after lunch (Vegetable soup).

Dinner tonight was Pasta and (Turkey) meat sauce and a side of Green Salad.

I have finished the second Intra-Guild quilt and want to put the binding on. I will try to get a picture and post later or tomorrow.

Carol
