SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, June 11th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Jun 11, 2023 7:04 am

Good morning,

Yesterday was a cool, drizzly day all day long. I LOVED IT!! Today we'll be 70* and mostly cloudy. I'll take that, too. I got a small start on the laundry yesterday. Bill did the folding while he watched a movie. I also worked on my July OWL block. Then we went to Tacoma to the big fabric sale, then to Joanns to buy thread at 50% off, then to the jewelry store to get my mothers ring sized. Seems I'm no longer a svelte 115# young mom but a chunky old granny who would really like to wear her mothers ring again. :D That was our entire day. Today - more laundry, maybe clean some bathrooms, and perhaps the trailer. I have noble plans for all that, but may get sucked back into the sewing room. We're invited to friends at 3pm. We picked up wine for them on our trip and now will deliver the goods in exchange for supper. Mac & cheese! Yum!!

TINA - I guess your body was saying to take a break! You needed that rest!

JANA - how was your weenie roast last night? Did you do them in the backyard firepit? KIds love that! And yes, we can always find uses for more fabrics. I like that term better than just thinking of myself as a hoarder (even though 'hoarder' is probably more accurate! ) But I held myself down. Usually I come home from this sale with 2 or 3 large bags of new fabrics. Yesterday it was only 1/2 bag. My stash is getting larger and her inventory is getting smaller. I stocked up on Guttermann's colored threads, too, at Joann's (50% off). I was down to stems and seeds. My sis spent the night at Little America's new RV park and will be home in CO by noon today.

LORI - I kind of lost track of time while I was gone, but sounds like you are home from your trip if you are vacuuming and cleaning bathrooms! Nice to find new to you quilts shops, but a bummer that so many shops are closing. I'm thrilled to have a new one open up here since our other one closed 2 yrs ago. But this one is so tiny. I try to buy from them when I can though, but a big 40% sale wasn't to be skipped!

BECCA - you are a super walker! I would have considered the zoo my walk for the day, but you did another 3 miles! You must be in amazing shape! Your dinner choices sound delicious. I wonder if you could ask for smaller portions. I was raised to clean my plate - or else! So I'm afraid I'd be eating everything on the table!

CAROL - Bill and I both love leftovers, too. And casseroles and one pot dinners. We are lucky wives! And yes, I guess I do hit the ground running. I'm not much good at sitting. I guess it's another hold over from my "raising". On a farm no one ever sits!

No cooking for me tonite! We are invited to friends, Gus & Claudia. Her mac & cheese is amazing. And we will deliver the wine they asked us to pick up for them on our trip. I better put some hustle in my bustle today and tomorrow to work it off, because I really love her M & C!!

What's on your menu for tonite?

Mary, I don't buy as much fabric, but I always find other things to buy. They had Soft Fuse and so I bought 3 yards. Then I texted my other friend that's been looking for it and she was online immediately buying some. I also buy books. They are great when you are looking for just the right block or technique. Mac and Cheese sounds yummy.

Carol, what are you working on these days?

Tina, Hope you a feeling better. Don't over do it.

Becca, hope you get your walk in today.

We already took the boys to the park for their walk. I'm going to work on some blocks for our guild president. I also have one on the design wall that needs to be put together. All the blocks are done. Just sewing rows on point. Not my favorite thing, but I do like the look.

Dinner will be the chicken and potatoes we didn't have last night. I ended up making tacos instead.

Have a lovely day.

Lori 8-)

Good Afternoon,

Maryz - Leftovers for me meant no preparation time. Glad to know your sister got home today.

Lori - All of you making the OWL Quilt have inspired me to pull a Halloween Quilt I started several years ago. The pattern was given out on a Fall Quilt Shop Run. (I do not know what year.) Design is by Amy Barickman of Indygo Junction and is called "Simply Spooky2". I have all the pieced blocks done and needed to do the Applique blocks. I was trying to do them by hand, and it was simply not getting finished. I took them off and am doing machine applique. I think there will be some embroidery to do as well. All of you inspired me! Thanks!

Jana - Yes, we do find uses for our fabric.

Becca - The meals sound wonderful. I am glad to hear you are staying active and getting to visit with family.

We had rain overnight. This morning DH wanted to wash his car, so while the cars were wet with rainwater we washed and dried the cars. I even got mine vacuumed!

Dinner will be Spaghetti and Marinara Sauce. Broccoli will also be served.

Carol
