Supper Club - Sun June 5

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Jun 05, 2022 5:25 am

Good morning,

We got over the mtns yesterday and down the other side all intact. Whew! Brakes held. Bill repair of the truck/trailer connection did the trick - bless him. We came down Teton Pass in Idaho once in 2006 with failing brakes. Wasn’t as much fun as you might think.

Once we got to Pendleton the rain stopped and we had nice weather all the way to Yakima until about 9pm last night. And should be nice today at about 71*. Now we are at Sportsman State Park with only other couple from our group, “Bob & Bev”. They came for campfire last might and they shared cauliflower crust pizza with us for supper. It was good! Today we are all going to two wineries, Thurston Wolfe and 14 Hands. We are club members at both so we taste for free. We really enjoy "Bob". He has Parkinsons like my brother, Jim, had, and they have the same demeanor. It was almost like spending an evening with Jim again - only not.

JANA - dying to know how last night went! Was Michael surprised! And what about the kids' rodeo events? We've seen mutton busting on TV. It's a hoot! And yes, if Bob & Betsy move they will be about 170 miles closer to us. They are looking from between Portland to Salen/Eugene area. Right now they are 360 to 400 miles away, depending on the route we take.

CAROL - Don't you hate finding a tuck in the back! One of my first big quilts - a queen wedding gift decades ago - ended up with a big tuck. There wasn't much I could do by the time I found it. That was when I decided to get a quilting frame and machine.

VELDA - My hubby would be the one who wanted to go to the party at the farmers and I would be the one holding back! But I would go. He brings me out of the shell I have a tendency to live in. And I almost always end up having a good time. Today will be a big day for you. Is this niece you are going to see the Marine?

IRISH - Hope you stop by. Maybe you are busy helping your sister move into her new house? How is Baby Girl?

Supper tonite is going to be the Johsonville brats we would have had last night if Bev hadn't brought over her pizza. Along with baked beans. Coleslaw would be good, too, if I had any. Maybe we'll stop at a store today. Not sure if we'll share supper or not. We actually had an agenda for every day but since we're only 4 now, we're kind of tossing that out the window.

Have you figured out your plan yet?

Good morning!

Mary - Oh how well I know Teton Pass! That is one steep descent into Jackson Hole. Rexburg, where I went to college, on the Idaho side isn't too far from there. The beginning of that pass is in Driggs, right near Targhee Ski resort, in the Teton mountains, where I tore up my knee very well on the ski slopes. Us college kids would visit Jackson Hole quite often. It's not called Jackson Hole anymore, just Jackson. Guess the old name was too hick-ish for them, now a ton of movie stars live there. Had every bit of faith that Bill knew what he was doing!

I put the whole story of last night over in Sew in, if you want to read it. Yes, Michael was surprised at the plaque the city made for him. It is very nice. Tonight all the family is coming to visit. We will have strawberry shortcake and find out the stories of Ethan, Emma, and Gracie with chasing the calves. And the dirt, and what they thought of the rodeo. I am cheating on the strawberry shortcake, bought pre-made angel food cakes, so all I need to do is sugar up the berries. We serve our strawberry shortcake over angel food cake, vanilla ice cream, strawberries and whip cream. It's a favorite here.

Church is in a few minutes. I am subbing in again as the chorister. The young lady that is my regular chorister graduated the other night from high school and is off somewhere on a trip. Later at the end of summer, she is heading off to college, here in the state. So I will be getting a new regular chorister and hopefully that means I get to sit in the pews, not on the stand, up front! I like hiding in the background, just quietly doing my jobs in the Ward. I have several.

So food wise today, will be our boring, but normal brunch, hash browns and eggs. Treat later!

Enjoy!
Hugs,
Jana

Good Afternoon,

Maryz - So glad you made it over the mountains. Bill deserves a lot of credit for fixing the line too!

Jana - Kudos to Michael. Thank him for his service. Glad to hear a good time was had by all. Enjoy the Strawberry Shortcake. We ate strawberries this morning with our eggs. Yummy!

Tuesday is election day in California, so we voted today after Church and breakfast. This afternoon I am going to baste a quilt and sew. I also am going for a walk a bit later.

Dinner will be Turkey Meatloaf, potatoes, fresh green beans and a salad.

Carol
