After bouts of rain and T-storms yesterday, we have settled down to a dark and rainy day here today. We will be hitting the road after breakfast. Bob is cooking for us and a second couple of their friends who arrived yesterday. Not sure what we're having, but I know it will be good. Yesterday we ran into town - 15 miles each way - for a few items at hardware store, WM, and LQS. the LQS also sells hot tubs.

Today we are headed back to Yakima for four more nights. I hope the weather is better. and I hope our trailer brakes work going down the mountain! It's called Cabbage Hill and is steep and winding. It's freaking me out a little.
LORI - happy birthday to Wrigley, too!! Was there a party? We had a birthday party for our cat, Larry, once when the kids were little and invited all the other neighbor kids. I made a mouse-shaped cake, we played pin the tail on the cat, and we gave out Goldfish crackers and baggies of cat food to take home.
JANA - We've traveled that I-80 route more than a few times. Many moons ago - about 40 years - my sister and DBIL managed the Motel 6 in Winnemucca, so we stayed there a few times to visit her. That was in my past, past life. I was wondering what Kari's parents were thinking of the kids' move. I remember Mike and I, with toddler, Lara, moved to Denver once for a job. Our parents were NOT happy. But eventually we moved back to WA. Is the rodeo/ceremony tonite? Bet all your family is excited.
CAROL - Our house is usually 'tidy', but amazing how much better it looks when I get down and really clean. I bet yours is sparkling right now. I've got a lot of cleaning to do when we get home - house and trailer.
VELDA - I have always liked changing furniture around. But seems when I do it nowadays, I lose the big open floor space in the living room. It's my "design wall" and I end up having to move it all back to accommodate blocks and quilts. Bill and I have been using our long arm for 16 years and tried different things, but how I described works the best. No scrap border at the top. We pin the top. We always have to do practice stitching with every quilt so the side scrap borders really help there plus that way we can quilt all the way to the edges of the quilt. Side clamps can get in the way of that. Same thing with the bottom of the quilt - putting scrap borders there gives us room to quilt all the way to the bottom. Otherwise we are running over snappers, pins, or even the canvas leaders on the rollers. Those scrap borders have saved us a lot of time and headaches. EVen though it's an extra step to add them and then remove them later. I use the biggest basting stitch I can. But we only put them on the quilt top - not the backing. The backing needs to be approx 4" larger than the top all the way around anyway.
I'm not sure what supper will be tonite. When thinking we would be a big group we had planned potluck finger food and campfire. But now that it's just us and MAYBE one other couple - and we haven't heard from them since we started planning this outing several weeks ago - we're going to play it by ear. We are the wagon masters which is why we have done all this planning. I guess we'll probably have Johnsonville Brats in buns with baked beans. Plus our appetizer which is raw veggies and dip. One thing, we're practically a traveling grocery store in this trailer so we won't be going hungry!

What sounds delish to you tonite?
