SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Dec 13th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Dec 13, 2021 4:58 am

Good morning.

We're a little chilly again today but gaining ground in the temperature dept. I think. I hope.

I got the outer sashing and narrow inner border on LOTR yesterday and 6 of my 22 6-inch letters made for the outer border. Today - more letters. They aren't hard, but a bit tedious. KIds came by for HH around the fake campfire last night and we had a good visit. We probably won't see them again until next weekend as this is a very busy week for them. For us, too, actually. We are meeting two different couples (Texas friends - you don't know them.) for lunch, one tomorrow and one on Thursday. That constitutes a busy week for us. We may even squeeze a load of laundry in there! We didn't get our Seahawk game on TV yesterday but they won anyway! Yay!

BECCA - I so admire your 93 yr old friend. I firmly believe the key to longevity is an upbeat attitude and a life purpose. She sounds like she has both and is a delight! (by the way, I think you have both, too, and are also a delight!)

VELDA - when you go out to eat and then dancing, you burn off those extra calories so I say enjoy those restaurant treats!

LORI - we get fluffy toes here, too. And I trim them but not as prettily as the groomer. Scott needs his "feathers" trimmed, too, on his legs. There is a U-wash place near our RV park that we plan to take him to. There is one here in the park but it's only cold water. Brrr... Not doing that to him.

TINA - I don't like to do Scott's nails either. Bill cut Snickers' nails one night when I was at work and cut too deep. Snick yelped, Bill yelped, and then he called me, asking what to do. When I got home, he was sitting in the rocking chair, Snickers snuggled in his lap, a towel wrapped around his bloody paw. Never again! Our friends use a Dremel tool on their dog's nails. But Scottie would never stand for that!! You are really going to town on those stockings! are you sewing again today?

JANA - is Michael still on oxygen? I haven't read yet that he's off but maybe I missed it . . .

We still have ham so I might make a soup of some kind. I don't have any navy beans, though I have every other kind of bean on board, so that's what it will be. and whatever veggies I can find. And maybe some biscuits. I have 5 Rhodes frozen rolls in the freezer to use up. And the oven will help heat the trailer and today will be a cool-ish day. Win/win.

What's your winning idea for supper tonite?

Maryz, I am in awe of how quickly you have tackled this LOTR quilt. I really think it would be special to pass on a copy of your journal you kept on this quilt. Forevermore, your grandson will know how special he is to you and the dedication you put into the project.
My sewing machine comes home this week and back to work. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Since Hwy 16 is closed in the direction we go to pick her up, I will just wait a few more days until the electric company replaces all the huge poles torn down in the tornado touchdown.
Our dear friend who does all the driving to to all the dances has been a farmer in this area all his life. Therefore, he knows all the back roads and who lives where. He took an ( off the beating path) road on Saturday night going to the dance. Not sure how soon the highway will reopen. Dick and I don't want to go that direction until it's back open. We aren't good finding detours unless they are clearly marked.

I probably should get back to the Swedish Weave project today and get a few more rows completed. ๐Ÿค—

Tonight is a Monday night dance and eating at a salad bar. We have been eating out every Monday regardless of if there's a dance. LOL I feel so spoiled with all the restaurant meals. But not complaining. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Good morning!
Mary, coming down the home stretch on LOTR! Sounds like a horse race LOL high 5 major!
My groomer uses a dremel on Duncan and Rosie too, they go every 2 weeks so no real clipping involved, I'll just have to keep up on it ๐Ÿคž I nicked one of my toy poodles once and stuck it in flour or corn starch real quick, it stopped the bleeding. It made me feel ill though.
Yep, I'll be sewing today and every day through Friday. I have to be finished by Friday because Saturday the baking will begin I believe. Baking may wait till Monday but I still want to keep my Friday deadline if possible.
Vel, sounds like Monday's are fun days for you! Enjoy! We can get most places here by backroads too. Comes in handy when they close roads down for us to get home sometimes.
Becca, yes please I'd love for you to share your mom's sugar cookie recipe with me โค
Well I'm hoping to finish these 3 stockings today so I can do cuffs tomorrow and I need to make my bindings to get them sewn on. While I have my embroidery machine out doing names on cuffs I'll do my 2 quilt labels too. If only I didn't have to do uglies in there too..... they take up my sewing time.
Well we ended up with soup last night so tonight might be that hamburger helper or I may totally change my mind again LOL

Good morning!

Mary - yay for you! That quilt is a masterpiece! Even if you think you were slow, by most standards you were very fast in its completion. A simple meander with a star sounds very good. The quilt is a treasure and so is the journal of it's creation. Michael is down to the lowest setting on the O2 at night. We are trying several times to go off it, but it's hard to know how to do it safely, since we are asleep. We will figure it out.

Becca - making a new wreath would be loved, but the old one holds memories.

Tina - quit adding more stockings! LOL! Hope the guide works for the embroidery.

Not much going on here. Aaron just called with a story about a school bus and kids, sounds to be a funny, but he had to go help someone else, so I get the rest in a few minutes. His new job is still in the background phase. His new title here in Herriman will be Community Service Officer. We should hear on the background check this week. Hopefully.

Heading downstairs.

Dinner - I am not in the mood to cook, but will probably make Enchiritos for tonight.

Hugs,
Jana

Tina, you are a busy little elf.

Mary, what letters are you putting on the border? Jack and Wrigley get cold baths. It doesn't bother them.

Vel, dinner and dancing sounds wonderful.

Jana, I hear you on not being in the mood to cook. That's why we have cereal in the house.

I did a Target and Costco run today. They weren't too busy. I also got three packages ready to mail out. Will print off labels tomorrow and drop at PO.

Dinner will be Chili, because it is Chilly today.

Have a lovely evening.
