SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Feb 19

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Feb 19, 2021 6:19 am

Good morning,

Quiet day yesterday. I got my "Get Together" quilt top done except for the borders. Will do that this morning and piece the back. When I choose the fabric from my backing stash. I read the calendar wrong and thought my two appts were yesterday but they are this morning instead. Then we have an appt to go pick out our bathroom floor this afternoon. We're also trying to find a vanity we like. Everything we've seen is either white, gray or very dark brown, smooth, with ugly handles and knobs. Uninspiring. I like what we've had for 25 yrs better but it's getting a little time-worn. So we'll keep looking, mostly on-line though we've gone to a few stores, too. So my day will be a little bit of sewing, and 3 appts.

I was talking with Gene, my brother. He got his second vaccine about 5 days ago as did his wife, who is now in a memory care facility. Both of them have had a few days of feeling dizzy, nauseated, headache. Indicates the vaccine is working, but hoping they are both through that stage by today. I get my second shot on Tuesday and have a dental cleaning on Thursday. I hope I don't have to cancel the appt.

JANA - I've gone back to your batt cave photos 3 times, admiring. Will be nice to have a rolling ironing surface. When we finally remove the old BR vanity, I'm going to convert that to mine but it won't roll out of sight. It will just be there. Poor Matt. He is probably getting pretty frustrated with Enoch problems by now. I will look at John Flynn's DWR method. Thx.

ROSEBUD - so sorry more woes have been added to your woe list. That's too bad that someone didn't give you the prep orders for your test. And a broken tooth on top of that is just what you don't need. I've broken 3 teeth like that over the years = all on soft foods. My dentist said that usually when it happens like that the tooth was already cracked. Softer foods create more 'suction' as you chew and pull the tooth apart. Makes sense the way he explains it. Praying things improve for you soon. And that your tooth is, eventually, a quick and painless fix.

BECCA - sounds like it's "go-time" for your new baby quilt. I love starting a new project. This will be special because the way you describe it sounds like it will be a one of a kind quilt for a one of a kind baby! When will "we" find out if it's a boy or a girl?

TINA - your fabric closet is starting to come together in my mind! Glad it's finally coming together in your room, too! Now, let's talk lighting. Is it good in that closet or should we get Frankie involved again?

Last night I made a mushroom sauce and added my leftover restaurant chicken, diced, and we had it over egg noodles. It was really good. At the moment, for tonite, I'm leaning toward meatloaf and baked potatoes for supper. I was considering chili rellenos but decided we need a break from "international" foods with some good old fashioned meat and potatoes.

What's the supper story at your house?

Good morning!
I cleaned out my 1 cabinet that I left in my closet LOL I'm cleaned up, make a mess, cleaned up, make a mess cycle here. After I clean this mess up I think it should be ready for Frankie to make a frame.
Mary, I think my lighting in there is good, it's just a lightbulb LOL. I'm glad your chicken went to good yummy use. I'm glad your brother and DSIL got their shots now, they should be able to see each other again right? Have you tried looking for an old but new to you vanity? Sometimes used furniture stores have some really nice things from days of old.... we won't say antiques because then they cost 5x what the used second hand stores charge 🤣😂
Becca, I always loved sitting and talking to my mom and aunt for hours like that, I sure miss it.
Well you know where I'll be, in my closet and sewing room LOL I'm also using the dining table so I don't have to bend over so much.
Supper hmmmmmm🤔 I think pork chops, I know we have salad or I can do green beans..... maybe I'll do....I think they're called cottage potatoes? They're baked potatoes that I cut up and fry, I'm not sure what they're called but Dad loves them with sour cream.

Good morning!

Got over my sloughing off. I have been very slothful and very good at ignoring messes. But I have most of the laundry caught up guest bathroom cleaned, and have my dishwashers running too. In a minute I will head into the Master and vacuum. By that time, Michael will be done with his consulting work too.

My two flower sprays arrived and even though they said they were 31 inches long, I have no idea who's ruler or scale they used. More like 18 inches, so I may just figure a way to marry both together to get what I want. Or, my punt and use them separately in a different spot. I do like them.

Dinner - maybe just a stuffed baked potato. I have a small bit of chili leftover that could be used up.

The snow has stopped and we have lots of cloud cover, and a teeny tiny bit of blue sky. Not too bad for temps, inching toward 40!

MIchael is doing well after his shot. Seems not to have any dide effects. It did make him sleepy last night, but fine today.

Mary - you log cabin quilting sounds perfect for your friend. Mine is getting about the 9nly pattern I am comfortable with, a loopy meander. One of these days, LOL, I will try something else! I do have what is called, groovy boards by Handi Quilter, they are like training wheels for a bike. Basically a grooved pantograph .

Becca - back in the old days, I would call my mom and talk for a hour or more, long distance! Michael was very happy when he found some rates that were very cheap! I checked with her daily. She was alone here in Utah and I was in California.

Tina- that is the nature of the game - make something, that makes a mess. Clean up said mess and start all over! Glad you are getting your room just right!

Well, rings, buzzers and tunes are all going off, need to attend to the different machines,

Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Think I am with you in running dishwasher, cleaning bathroom and doing laundry. However mine are being done on schedule. I am also making bread today. We only have a couple of ends from the last time I made Whole Wheat. The dishwasher is almost done, the dough is almost risen and the bathroom is clean. It is good! I want to sew!

Tonight's dinner will be Macaroni & Cheese with something from the ocean and broccoli. We are observing Lent.

Tina - You are making me look at all my messes in my sewing room! have you read the latest American Patchwork & Quilting? They have a 31 day plan for cleaning your workroom.

Mary - Happy Anniversary dinner. Sorry the restaurant changed their menu and what you ordered was not to your liking. Too sad when that happens!

Jana - Hope you get your chores done so you can sew. Are the flowers fresh? I missed something on how you are going to use them.
