SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Aug20th
Good morning,
We have rain! I woke up at 0300 and heard it coming down. It didn't stop until around 0600. Our yard is happy! Speaking of our yard, yesterday we made a spur of the moment purchase of a pretty shrub - burgandy leaves. Got it home and went to plant it in our front area we had landscaped last winter and realized it's can get to 15' tall and 15' wide! Yikes! We were thinking more in terms of 3x4'. We planted it but figured we'd keep it pruned. But you know how that goes. So we'll see what happens with it. Maybe we'll move it later today . . . .
I got another few hours of yard work done, too, as well as picked 2 last buckets of black berries. Then I washed out my buckets and put them up for the season. I'm done! I have 3 batches of jam plus enough berries to share with my sister and with Autumn this winter and still keep several packages for myself. I also made two more bindings yesterday. I keep hoping to get more quilts quilted soon . . .
This morning I have a fasting blood draw and then we're going for our flu shots. A couple weeks early but it takes 2 weeks for full effectiveness and that will put us into Sept. We leave for Yellowstone 2 weeks from today. I think I'll do some uglies this afternoon since it's wet out. Bathrooms, dusting, picking up. And rearrange a few things in my dish cupboard. I've also been going through clothes, a little at a time. Since I've done this twice in the past year, I'm not finding much to get rid of, but I've set out a few things to see if my sister would like them. We're the same height, size, weight, shape and often trade clothes.
JANA - you'll be glad to see the end of your potholder project, I bet! But what fun gifts for your family! I did them last years, though mine were in pairs and each pair was different - mostly Lori Holt patterns. But after making 16 pairs I was ready to call it quits and never made any fore myself. What's next after masks and pot holders?
IRISH - a quilt AND a sampler? Lucky couples! I bet your days are busy at the machine and your evenings with thread and needle! Construction here is all new homes. They just finished over a 100 and another 300 or so are going up now. All within 1/2 mile of our house and all from the $550K to $675K range. Makes our little place look like and old gramma's forgotten farm. But I'd much rather live here than in one of those big echoing homes! Why are homes so big now? Or maybe they aren't in your area. But here, new houses are 3500 to 4500 sq. feet.
Tonite I think I"m doing to make those chicken enchiladas - red or green? That is the question. Probably green! Fresh veggies are gone except for two carrots and two peppers. Since we'll be at Albertsons this morning getting our flu shots, maybe we'll refill the crisper drawer while we're there. If so, some kind of fresh veggie! If not, maybe refried beans.
How about you?

It looks like everyone is taking a break from eating dinner! I haven't been that is for sure.
Tonight's dinner will be a repeat of last night's dinner - Stuffed Pepper Casserole. I will turn on the oven but will not need to be in the kitchen very long.
Jana - I use King Tut as well. Question for you: Do you use King Tut in the Bobbin or do use another thread? Some people find a lighter weight works better. Just wondering.

In my Handi Quilter class I took awhile back, the only thing they told us, was to use the same color, top and in the bobbin. Size was no problem to use different ones. I do use the King Tut on the top and in the bobbin. The same color, just in case one thread pulls up or down, making dots. That is unless you want polka dots- LOL.
As you can see, my phone and internet are back. The construction crews filled in the hole and started pouring the curbs and gutters. The sidewalks are framed, ready for the concrete. Hopefully they will be done soon.
See ya in the morning!

Hi everyone!!!
I'm still here!!!
Sorry I keep missing everyone. I get on and start reading and keep getting called in all directions, it's actually kinda crazy. I don't know how I've ended up being so busy
I didn't feel like cooking anything for supper or eating but I ended up making a chef salad LOL it was yummy and refreshing, we were 104° today.
I cleaned our backyard yesterday, it looks really nice.
I hope you all are doing good ❤
