SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Dec 22nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Dec 22, 2019 6:24 am

Good morning!

So, what are you all going to do with your extra minute of daylight today?? This is a more exciting day than Christmas at my DB's house up in North Pole, AK! And he lives only a mile from Santa Claus!

Our rain finally stopped last night. Up until it started Thursday evening, we were having the fourth driest years on record here. Now we are one of the wettest! We could put the canoe in our back lawn and float around with ducks! But I think the most is over. JANA - you are right - I guess we DO deliver! To you, anyhow!

Yesterday I tried to run errands. I couldn't even get close to the post office and since the things I have to mail aren't for Christmas, they can wait. Then I tried to go to Safeway. Took me 12 min to go 1/2 mile and by the time I actually got into the parking lot I didn't have time to do my shopping and then reverse my route to get to a hair appt so I bagged groceries until early this morning. But then I couldn't get back out of the parking lot! Traffic was C R A Z Y! And we're a small town! I did make it to my hair appt and got a green streak put in. But my hairdresser got involved in watching a preacher show on her computer and I think left me to process a bit longer than she should have. My green is DARK! I know it will fade soon, but for now, it's DARK! lol! My grandsons will probably notice tomorrow night!

Today the Seahawks are playing the Arizona Cardinals. I gotta get my shirt and earrings on! So far the only games they've lost were where I wasn't "in uniform". I'm not superstitious. I'm just sayin' . . . . And I'll be sitting in front of the TV for the afternoon. I finished my wool applique TV project last night - Snowman's Tree Lot from Buttermilk Basin - so now I'm hand sewing all those yo-yos I made during the summer onto green strips of fabric. Then the strips will be sewn together to make a quilt. Not sure why - because I can, I guess.

JANA - I love that your kids are all such traditionalists. Your dinner sounds awesome! How do you like your prime rib? We're not big beef eaters here (though my DB, Jim, LOVED beef) but we all prefer it well-done which makes most prime rib enjoyers cringe.

BECCA - you are always busy, busy, busy! Did you bake your last things yet? I finally got Bill's oatmeal craisin cookies made. He prefers them over any Christmas cookie. I have a box of snowballs (Russian tea cakes) for each of the boys tomorrow night, but that's it. Since Alec is a baker, perhaps he'll bring some cookies . . . We can hope. But that's probably a case of the cobbler's children going shoeless! lol!

Tonite's supper will either be chicken noodle soup or a scramble. We'll see if I get to the grocery store and what falls into the cart. I need things for tomorrow night when our grandsons will be here so I better get someplace today!

What's cookin' at your house for Christmas Eve Eve Eve?

Good morning!

I know where the white stuff will be - my house! It will start falling on Christmas eve.

Mary - yes, I cringed. Most here like it medium and a few of us are in the rare side, me. So, there are cuts for all tastes.

Church is in awhile. Then home and make a shortened list of goodies. I helped Sarah sew 5 totes and 2 make up bags yesterday. Gifts for the in law side of her family. I will start wrapping as well. My closet is getting deep in bags of gifts. Not counting the middle bedroom hiding space as well.

Dinner - after church, we eat early, and Michael likes brunch, hash browns and eggs.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning everyone. I will be slipping into my seat at the table with a chicken and rice burrito.

Today and tomorrow I need to finish up the last part of my Christmas sewing, so everything else will be on hold. That is with the exception of talking to my DGD to wish her a happy 21st birthday.

Hi everyone!
I've had a do nothing, good for nothing day 😂🤣 I was so exhausted yesterday after going to Cruces to finish shopping for Dad, as in he tells me how much to spend on people and I shop for him. I started doing this several years ago for Mom, guess he is happy to have me shop too LOL. When we got back we had to do some grocery shopping at Walmart, pick up the dogs at the groomer, got home just before 6 and then made supper for us, Dad, Holly and the kids. Then Holly left the kids here so she could wrap stuff and the kids decorated sugar cookies for a couple of hours. It was so fun! I was beyond tired when Holly came back for them just before 10 I think it was. I feel asleep and woke up and 4 in pain so had to get up. I was up a couple of hours and couldn't get warm and my eyes wouldn't stay open so tried going back to bed around 7 and slept till 9! LOL what a crazy time!
I'm gonna go make some burritos for supper.

OK - I offically quit cooking! Today I made Russian teacakes - first batch, to much flour, salvaged them by adding a touch of water, then the second batch, not enough flour. So I am done. I will scrub down the kitchen of all gluten and attempt a batch of divinity. If that doesn't come out, I will tear up my cooking baking membership card. That might be a good thing, weight loss could be the silver lining.
