SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Nov 14th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Nov 14, 2019 5:10 am

Good morning,

We are 45* this morning and dry. Cooler than yesterday at this time, but given the temps of most of the rest of the nation, by golly, we'll take it and be happy about it! Yesterday I got involved in mostly sorting fabrics and changing how and where I store some of them. Right now I have little Christmas scraps in tiny piles all over my sewing room. No sure what I'm going to do with them, but maybe by the end of today, I'll know. I guess I'm stalling. I'm kind of stuck on this table topper. I didn't like the wreath I made so I wanted to do the back in something else so it could be flipped over. Nothing I'm doing is cranking my engine over.

TINA - I hope removing some of his meds will help your dad. But at the end of 3 days, I'm wondering, 'then what?' That's quite a story about your great niece. Truly, she is a miracle. Too bad Easton is tired of peanut butter sandwiches. We never heated or refrigerated our lunches going to school. They just sat on the shelf in the cloak room until noon. We had bologna, egg salad, cheese, ham salad, etc. What are the other kids eating? Anyway, doesn't his mom make his lunch?

IRISH - like Tina, I was spitting coffee while reading your description of cat bathing. hahahaha!! And another person to drive to the ER! Good news about Harriet's new egg. But that owl has me worried! Surely Daddy Eagle can take care of him, can't he??

CHICKIE - how sweet and wonderful that everyone would gather to surprise you for your birthday!! Was Shelly and family there, too? You so deserve it! Happy Happy Birthday again!

BECCA - I know you will be busy baking today and tomorrow.

Bill said he really liked his stew last night and I do believe there's enough for tonite as well. If not, I can 'beef' it up with something.

Happy Supper Eating!

Good morning!

I survived my Cup and Pint! Little Lila is a button pusher, drawer opener! If there is a knob or a button, anywhere, it is a neon sign flashing, come here Lila! I can just call her name, she looks, and I hold up my finger, she mininicks me, shaking her finger, no, and smiles, and then pushes or opens anything! I tell her, cute doesn't work, there are too many ahead of her that tried cute! Gracie, on the other hand is developing a bit of a attitude. She showed it to her Dad when we took them home, and that was nipped quickly in the bud. Gracie was tired and needed a reset nap. Which she got.

Ethan and I made chocolate peanut butter whoopie pies. The first filling was a diaster, so I made a much better batch of peanut butter frosting. They are OK, nothing to really write home about, but Ethan likes them. He has piano less9ns today and then dinner here with Stu. We have leftover stroganoff and I will add another veggie and salad for tonight. Tomorrow will make pot roast and mashed potatoes, which will make Ethan very happy.

Mary - I too need to go through my stash of Christmas fabrics and weed out the too small, but if I did that, I would find a need for them and I am running out of space to keep all the Christmas I do have!

Need to scoot, Michael needs me to find a picture to go with a quote on the Sunday bulletin.

Enjoy,
Jana

Hello everyone,a cold cloudy day here.Spent this morning baking cookies. And made a big pot of beef veggie soup. Then had to run into Town for shots, banking gas fill up.Now home to begin again.Going to bake my cake tomorrow.

Maryz I really need to sort scraps but it won’t happen soon.Too many irons in the fire.

Jana Those Little ones will try you.And they learn real fast who rules.

Tina That was some story on your great niece.I had never thought about until the other day.My maternal Grandparents were named Mary & Joseph.Of course they were Grandma & Grandpa to me.Do hope your Dad can get some help on his health problems.I sure understand.

Irish That’s too bad about the Owl but I would think the Eagles can prevail.I sure hope so.
Such a majestic bird.

Well It will be soup here which I love but CA not as much.I can eat itfor days as long as it’s cold.Guess I’ll freeze some for later. Becca

Good afternoon from sunny, but cold, SW. Pa....Sun sure makes it look warmer but it's on a teaser....

Mary, Even though you're a good motivator, I'm not going to start sorting...I have the room semi organized and no, no, don't get me started messing it up.....I'm sure you'll come up with something that you like with your project, I have no doubt......
It is eggciting about the eagles and I'm sure if matched, the Daddy eagle would take care of the owl but the owl doesn't play fair....But, it will be interesting to see what happens when the little ones come along...Those parents can be very fierce.....

Tina, hoping and praying things settle down with you Dad....It's terrible to have to depend on what the doctors give you and then find out it's hurting you in the end...I often wonder what our older generations did, before all these meds....
That really is quite a miracle story about your nephew and the baby...Good things do happen to those who deserve it.....

Jana, I often wonder how you do it! I love, love to see the little ones come but I really do like to see them leave...In a "numb" moment, I did tell Michael and April I'd watch little Emma, but I was also very happy to hear they have those bases covered....I remember Kathy, after a week of staying and watching Lena, saying there is no way she could do that all the time...But, you seem to handle things perfect, more power to you.....

Becca, and wonder how you do it, also...You're always on the go and doing.....I did see on FB that Chriss had posted about the benefit...Great picture and I'm sure will be a super turnout....Veggie beef soup???? Wish I lived closer.....

Today is kind of another laid back day....Baby Girl had no ideas when I asked her what we were doing today so, it's not going to be much...Of course, she's been napping for the last couple of hours...I had a call from my sister and I think we're running tomorrow...Supposed to be just a bit warmer and she needs a new recliner...She did tell me, 2 of her boys are both having back surgery in the next couple of weeks and then her 2nd knee is scheduled for January so she might hang out that shingle, "Murphy's Nursing/Rehab Center"....

No real plans for dinner...Just had a late lunch and I also just stuck some breaded zucchini wedges in the oven...Around here, there is no set time for meals, lol....Probably should bake and take something to my sister tomorrow but will think on that one...Neither one of us needs any goodies......

You all have a great day.....

Happy eating....................

Good SUNNY afternoon! No coat today! It’s 50 degrees with a “real feel” of 46, but when we went to walk Ava, I didn’t wear a coat. It’s just too nice. When we returned from walking Ava, I called “Road Trip!” to the Hooligans, and we went to Edna to the quilt shop to take advantage of my birthday discount. I found some flannel to make some receiving blankets for the prospective moms, a couple of patterns, some FQs and the Insulbrite that was my main objective. It was a fun trip! I love that little shop, and they have some darling baby fabrics. I can’t wait to find out what great grand baby #2 will be so I can get started!

Dinner out last night got cancelled, but it’s on for tonight. Some of the guys stopped in this morning after brunch and assured us it would happen tonight. They also left with jars of my jam.

Tina—I’ve heard of freezing bread or sandwiches that can be frozen to keep lunches cool until noon. Like Mary, we never worried. Our sack lunches waited for us, and no one got sick. We always had mayonnaise or something. Does he take a paper sack, or can he have a lunch box or insulated carrier?

I used to have to make my Brutus cat get out of the water. He never minded and was always playing in sinks, tubs, or the bird bath. Now, my other cat… she was every nightmare imagined that cat bathing entailed!

Jana—Lila will be quite a handful when she becomes a teenager! Whoopie pies are such fun! DH’s late wife made them and called them devil dogs, but they are the same recipe.

Becca—sorry about your gloomy weather. As you noticed, it changes often in Kansas! One of the hunters is from North Carolina. I’ll try to ask him from where tonight. He is a doctor.

I want to get back to my sewing room. I’m cutting pieces for a wall hanging for my SIL. Sure hope she likes it, as it’s super involved. I’ll be headed for Mom’s tomorrow for much of the day. Break for Sis and BIL and bath time for Mom after.

Dinner tonight—out to the steakhouse! Leftovers tomorrow night, so I won’t have to do much cooking when I return from town.

Bon appétit!
