Supper club. May 31
Good morning !
Another pretty day here today. I’m leaving for my walk in about half an hour. My neighbor, Lori, and I talk over all the worlds problems in the hour we are together every morning. And our pooches get to gather up all the Pee-mail Messages along the trail! Lol!
Yesterday, Bill and I came home from shopping and found Vicky on the ground between our houses. She had a bonfire going in her driveway, burning all the boards she had tossed around her yard while our friends were visiting last month. I think she bent to pick up a board and lost her balance and then could not get up. She had been laying there at least 10 to 15 minutes, thrashing around. It took both of us to get her up on her feet again and then she couldn’t stand for a little while. I was ready to call 911 but she suddenly got her feet under her, thanked us, and wobbled into the house. The episode seemed to shake her up quite a bit. We kept our eye on the fire until it died down. About four hours later she was back outside again, raking up the last of the coals. We did text all her kids and they came by in the evening to check on her.
Yesterday, I finished most of the packing. Just last minute laundry and refrigerator things left to go. It’s kind of a big deal, packing for two months on the road. We could encounter 85° weather, because Alaska does have summer, and we could encounter snow, because it is Alaska! One never knows. I also started cutting out all the pieces for 3thirty 9" sailboat blocks for my newest project, the baby quilt. I want to work on blocks while traveling but I didn’t want to take a whole tote of fabric so I am doing the cutting here.
I have to tell you, I am dictating this on my phone because Foxy crawled up into my lap and has settled down. I can’t reach my computer and it would be breaking the rules to disturb the cat. I am sure most of you understand.
Lori, I remember once prowling all our property, through the woods, shaking cat treat containers and calling “kitty kitty kitty“. We were ready to leave on a trip and the cats wandered off. It was four hours before they returned. We ended up making camp that night in the dark and eating our anniversary dinner-hamburgers from McDonald’s-at 9 PM because we were too tired to make the special supper we'd planned. We have to keep reminding ourselves how much we love cats sometimes.
Irish, certainly Pennsylvania is on the way to Alaska from Washington! Be out on the curb, suitcase in hand! We do take kitties along too! I bet your baby girl would love traveling in an RV for two months. LOL! As for having new cats when we get older, many people I know get older cats from the shelter and give them a good home for the last few years of their life. The cats life! Better yet-two old cats! I have been trying to think of a sentiment for Cindy‘s Afghan. All I can think is if you can put your self in her place, what would you want to say to your first grandbaby? Then the words might come
becca, almost everybody’s BP rises in the doctors office. Mine too. I learned to never take the stairs but use the elevator. And I always take at least two deep cleansing breath’s before they put on the cuff. This really helps to bring down the BP . I am excited to hear what sex the next set of twins will be. Sadly, I will be riding through Canada and will have to wait until we get into Alaska to turn my phone back on. Texts and phone calls are just too expensive in Canada. Another bear! You really do live in the wilderness !
Jana, I always feel sorry for people that don’t have a dog or kitty in their lives. We went 18 months without a dog and I got tired of cleaning the floors which is when we got snickers. When he died, we were so dog lonesome we got Scotty three months later. Both shelties but such different dogs! But we love him and when he is gone to a grooming appointment The house seems lonely without his energy.
Chickie, Bill‘s mom always called memorial day decoration day too. And she expected everybody to go to the cemetery with her to put flowers on her mothers grave. When Bill and I were newly married he said we were not going because it was also my first husband‘s death anniversary and we were going to a different cemetery. She never forgave me. And thus began the uneasy relationship between myself and my new MIL. That is so funny about your hooligans. Love “boomer’s woman”!
Supper tonight is going to be grilled chicken. We were going to have that with potato packets a few nights ago but didn’t. So tonight‘s the night! I am going to make a pasta salad for tomorrow night to have with grilled burgers with SUE and Kenn while camping. I do plan to be here in the morning but then I will be off line for about 10 days at least while we go through Canada. It will probably be hit and miss through the summer until we return at the end of July. I hope y’all don’t let each other starve while I am gone!

Hello everyone,sunny here.Cooler weather on the way.YIPPEE
Maryz If you only knew how many deep breaths I take.Dont talk either. You just walk in my Drs office ground level. And I have to sit 5 minutes before they take it.Ive had to lay on table for 1 hr before.Sit In chair & take a pill every 20 minutes. You get the picture.
We have woods close but It’s because those neighbors feed them.I never throw out anything or feed the birds because of drawing bears. Its all new neighbors doing this.
Wow That could spell disaster for Vicky if that happened & you were not there. And you planning to be gone 2 months. Not good.
Lori My porch is my happy place.Very peaceful.
Got my walk early.I really miss my friend that used to walk with me.We used to discuss all the World affaires & books we were reading. And my flowers all watered. Now do uglies.
Have beans leftover. Will add cornbread. And fresh strawberries. Becca
Have a great day everyone

Re: Supper club. May 31
Last day of May! Can you believe it!!!
I went to town yesterday to sit with Mom and then help my sister do bath and hair. My sister’s neighbor is a quilter, and I got to see her award winning quilt. There was a quilt show Saturday, and it won Viewers Choice. It is beautiful! She did a stack ‘n wack pattern with alternating plain blocks. She had it custom quilted, and the quilting put the quilt over the top in awesomeness! I couldn’t get to the quilt show as I was Mom sitting.
Mary—that was a scary incident with Vicki! So hard to believe that no one thinks she needs a keeper! Yes, that pee-mail is definitely important with the Hooligans, too!
Yesterday afternoon, travelin’ man Deuce was in the yard. He is DS1’s daughter’s dog—a Chihuahua mix (so smaller than Odie and Boomer for sure!) who lives two miles from here. But, he travels across pastures or on roadways to come here and raid the dog dishes and get treats. He is a funny, cute little dog—brown with very long legs and a white stocking on his front right leg. For Halloween he wore a serape and sombrero, and at the wedding last summer, he wore a bow tie and looked like a Chippendale dancer! Since is a little dog, and coyotes are big, and it was getting to evening, the Hooligans and I took him home and put him inside at his house. He opens the wooden screen door himself and just trots off. Like most terriers, he has a wandering foot.
Mary—I once moved from Kansas to Missouri and had to leave out cat behind as he wandered off to under one of the neighbor’s houses. I came over a week or so later and took him home with me. Yes, we do bend over backwards for the fur babies!
Irish—I agree with Mary about rescuing older cats from a shelter as we/they get older. Do babies have baby books any more? They are probably digital. I wanted to say to write a letter to the baby with the story of the special afghan to go with the baby book or digital record. Then put a small label on the afghan that says “Made with special love by Grandma Cindy for ….”
Becca—my BP is always high in the doc office, too. This last time I was shocked that it was in the normal range even after I had waited for my appointment almost an hour.
Jana—I would miss not having a pet. When I’ve been without, I’ve been so morose. We always say, “Never again.” That lasts a month or less, and we have new furry pals.
I need to pay a bill online, then head for my sewing room. For dinner—I’m turning the rice pilaf into red beans and rice with Earl Campbell’s jalapeno sausage for DH. I have a vegetable soup in the crock pot.
When I was walking, I picked cherries at Ava's. I didn't get enough for jam, so I might make a little pie or Danish with puff pastry. First I have to pit the cherries. I may not be getting in my sewing room this afternoon. I remember Erma Bombeck's book "If life's a bowl of cherries, what am I doing in the pits" She had the most delightful humor!
Bon appétit!

Chickie, I love cherries. I got some at the farmers market just last night. I just eat them fresh. I also got apricots, peaches, strawberries, boysenberries, and some veggies. I love summer fruits.
Becca, we have a patio in the back that's my happy place. I have a couch to sit and read, or just watch the animals play. They always come out when I'm out there.
Maryz, scary about your neighbor. Hope nothing happens to her. I bet you are ready to go. You've been talking about this trip for a long time. Hope you have a great time.
I think I will bbq some chicken and potatoes tonight. Then steam a veggie. I like easy.
Have a lovely evening. Lori
