SUPPER CLUB - Monday, May 20

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon May 20, 2019 4:13 am

Good morning!

Hard to believe May is 2/3 gone. Today is Vicki's 70th birthday. Yesterday her kids came and took her someplace and I think kept her quite a while. Her son's birthday is tomorrow so they always had big family parties to celebrate. Used to be at Vicki's, but now it's probably at her DD's. Time was, we used to always take her out to supper for her birthday and give her a nice gift. But that ain't happenin' anymore!

Today - more errands. Third errand day in a row. Police Dept, Groomers, Vet, grocery, and Post Office. Oh well - at least everything is within about 2 miles and I can just make a circle. Then Bill and I are going to organize the outdoor storage bins in the trailer.

JANA - you had a houseful yesterday. You know, I used to wonder why you needed two dishwashers. Now I know!! When our friends, Gus & Claudia, remodeled their house she put in two stainless steel fridges. They have more grands than you do! You asked what size quilts I made for the Police vehicles. All sizes, I guess because I used up lotto and swap blocks mostly. I would call them throws. Large enough for a person to wrap up in but not so large that they can't fit in a clear plastic ziplock or take up too much room in the already crammed trunks of the cop cars. One was made from blocks I found in a tote of fabric I fell heir to and even with large borders it was small-ish. I marked that one "Child Size". your baby quilt sounds so cute! Elephants seem to be the popular animal today.

BECCA - That's so nice of you to keep the Sheriff's department supplied with bears. I see them on Live PD giving out bears to kids so I know they are appreciated. Lucky you - new appliances! I hope your new stove has a drawer. I don't know where I'd put my cake and pie pans if I lost that bit of storage!

We are trying to eat down/clean out our freezer so tonite's meal is mystery soup (I think it's soup). It's hard to tell. Usually I label things but didn't with this container. Maybe it's split pea? Oh well, if it was good enough to keep the leftovers, then it will probably be OK, no matter what it is. And salad to go with. always salad. Sometimes I get tired of salad but then if I go for a few days without it I crave it.

What's on your craving list tonite?

Good morning! I have a few minutes here and wanted to pop in and say hello! We are expecting another round of thunderstorms and rain around 1:00p.m. that will last all day and much of tonight. More mud!!!

And, yes, my sister and BIL are going on their 50th anniversary trip in July. It went from 2 weeks to one week, and now to almost 3 weeks! I think I’ll be basically moving in town for three weeks as Mom can’t be left alone. It will definitely be a “situation.” I’m really not looking forward to it.

Mary—Of course, we knew your friends would love their fox quilt! I love your fox quilt! Sounds like you are busy as always! Good luck shopping! I hope Vicki was able to enjoy her birthday gathering; she’s younger than I am! That’s so sweet of you to make the quilts for the law enforcement vehicles!

Becca—and you keep the sheriff’s department supplied with bears! I feel like a slug.

Jana—sorry to hear about Joseph’s job, but it may be the beginning of a new and better career. Glad you are able to help out in the lean times!

Oops! I just thought I had time to chat! DH is home early, so time to make brunch. Dinner tonight—leftovers of all kinds. No one will go hungry!

Bon appétit!

Good morning!

Started cleaning up the laundry room, now the washer is back in place. We needed help from Matt to move it. So, now we saw that all the towels we used to clean up the water with are caked with the little itty bits of rubber. Do not want that back in the washer! So we will be getting new towels. Costco here we come! When I do something dumb, I do it well!

It seems like the old tradition of Sunday dinner at Grandma's is happening again here. I think I will try to control the amount of people I have at one time. It worked well last night.

Crenda is the head cook on Trek. Matt has been in charge of organizing the entire event - from getting the committees together, to renting the equipment needed, transportation, health forms, permission slips, etc. He has been doing all this for about a year. They leave on Trek in the end of June, for 4 days. The youth gain a experience that stays with them throughout their life.

Matt did the cobblers for our dessert last night. The portable smoker/oven they will use on Trek, had trouble cooking as many as they will need, so Crenda will bake them ahead, freeze them, and just reheat on the trail. She will have a refrigerated truck to keep her food safe. Matt used Bill's recipe for a cherry chocolate dutch oven cobbler. It will go on Trek - everyone loves it! Thanks Bill!

Dinner tonight is the little bit of leftovers from last night.

Mary - thanks for the size info - I will see what I have to do for Aaron's work truck. I may even make a doll or two.

Chickie - good to see you, even if it is just a minute. You are so busy!

Becca - a new stove and dishwasher- great fun! I have all my cookie sheets above my refrigerator - I had the cabinet made deep enough to hold them all.

Well, need to get going,

Enjoy,
Jana
