SUPPER CLUB - Friday, May 17

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri May 17, 2019 3:46 am

Good morning!

Happy Norwegian Independence Day! Since all my offspring are about 25% Norwegian, we celebrate. Or at least I do. I doubt they will remember until they get my text later this morning.

JANA - glad your washer is off the critical list! No more rugs for you! Rugs like that I put on the line or lay in the driveway, squirt a little soap on them, spray them with a hose to mix the soap up good, then in half-hour, go back with my 'rinse cycle' - the hose again. I do, however, wash small rubber backed rugs in my 26-yr-old Maytags when they are new and then hang them to dry. But once they get old, out they go because the rubber backing starts to crumble. But our guest who was here few weeks ago used to be a Sears Appliance guy and he said the new machines can't take that. I will remember your experience!

BECCA - I have to say, I never thought of snakes hiding in the ivy! We don't have snakes here except for little garter snakes who eat pests. And I haven't even seen one of those in about 20 years. Maybe they are hiding in my ivy . . .

LORI - I think your blocks should be there tomorrow. West Coast's were going to start arriving May 18. I tried a new potato recipe yesterday and it was really good. I used leftover baked potatoes. Diced them. I made a sort of sauce with Cr Mushroom soup, some mozzarella cheese, slice green onions, and a bit of sour cream. I tossed in a few red pepper flakes for a bit of zip, but I often do that to recipes. Mixed potatoes in and baked uncovered for 50 min. They were really good.

TINA - you had a very nice repairman! Now I guess we all know why there are signs in laundromats to never wash rubber backed rugs in their washers!

Today I have a little bit of sewing I want to do, then clean my sewing room, make jam to take to my brother, sort and wash summer clothes and pack up some to donate. Bill has been doing an electrical project in the trailer and he has all the kitchen drawers out on the floor and also the pantry shelves. so no use trying to start packing anything yet.

We have leftover meatloaf and those potatoes for tonite, so supper is covered. What about you?

Good afternoon!

Just got back from a short Costco run. Needed milk and eggs - but picked up a few things more - not much. Got two bath sheets for a wedding gift - I will embroider the bride and groom's names on them for a gift.

Still rainihg here, off and on - some patches of blue sky, but we are back to cold!

Dinner is my new chicken noodle soup recipe. Tomorrow is a chicken caesar salad, and Sunday will be a pot roast. Kate's Dad's funeral is tomorrow morning and she called earlier in the week, inviting themselves to Sunday dinner. She knew she wasn't going to be in a mood to cook, so I am glad too. After the service, their Ward is doing a lunch for the family. We will just go to the service. Sarah and Crenda are taking turns with the little girls, to help out Kate tomorrow. Grandma has a couple of new toys and snacks, which will be with me as extra loves.

Mary - Gene's jam wilk be well loved! Sarah does that with Daniel - it is strawberry that she makes and takes to him. Daniel saves the jars and brought them back this last trip - in trade for more jam.

Becca - glad the tree trimming went well. Being here in a desert climate, our trees are still small and Sarah can trim them up for us. We keep adding trees to the house here, as the city required only two in the park strip, next to the street.

Well, food needs to be put in the freezer and that requires mem

Enjoy!

Hi everyone!
I made 9 loaves of banana nut bread yesterday and 3 today! Used up all the bananas my DSIL gave me and she got 2 loaves so far. I went through 24 eggs, a bag of sugar and flour and almost a quart of buttermilk and 3 boxes of stick margarine! None of us should need to bake till Fall!
Jam, where's the jam? Berries? I want some! LOL
I'm making tacos for supper, Dad's turn to come over. I gotta go do haircuts right now though.
