SUPPER CLUB - Monday, March 4

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Mar 04, 2019 3:19 am

Good morning!

29* here but will warm to upper 40's later. We are taking advantage of the sunshine and getting out for a couple hours each day to do some serious work in the yard. Lots of overgrowth here and so much is broken down from the big snow that we are finally getting around to cutting it all back. Scottie is in heaven as he loves 'herding' the tractor, running circles around it and barking his fool head off. He's such a goofus!

Besides working on the property yesterday, I also finished quilting ISBS. She's ready for binding! Of course, I don't have enough of the fabric I want to use, so I'm going to have to figure out something else. I also made a doggie blankie to match the doggie go-bag I made for our friends with the new puppy - who is ADORABLE, by the way. Today I really need to attack the laundry. And I want to do lotto blocks, check out tea party ideas, and do more yard work. Busy day.

And speaking of Tea Party - I posted a new swap yesterday - Tea Party! Please check it out. You may be tempted! If not, you may have good ideas to share and I always welcome good ideas!

JANA - of course everyone loved the cake!! I can't wait to see a photo. Funny - you can post from your computer but not your phone. I, on the other hand, can only post from my phone and not my computer! Sounds like you are hogging all the snow for yourself and not sharing with Chickie who is straight east of you. Shame!

TINA - glad I was able to dangle that carrot! lol! And I caught you! Thanks for sharing all your great ideas with me. I still need to go 'block shopping'. I'm happy Jaz is doing so much better. Is she going back to school today? And super news on the taxes!

BECCA - sorry your weather turned to rain and chill. It kind of soaks into your bones. I'd rather colder but drier. Like they say about a dry heat not feeling as hot, so a dry cold isn't so bone-chilling.

Last night we ended up with beef stew at our friends. Bill said he liked the bread they served. haha! poor bill!

I think tonite we are due for a homemade pepperoni pizza. I better check for flour. I think I was running low. Yikes. Who runs out of flour!? Might have to run to the store.

Got supper?

Good afternoon! We were in single digits with minus wind chills this morning and last night. The hooligans and I just returned from walking to go walk Choc and Ava. I had on double everything and stayed toasty. The wind in my face was uncomfortable, but I pulled my scarf up higher and my stocking hat down lower. Ava was thrilled to see all the hooligans and get to romp around after them in the snow that’s still with us. We were 17 temperature and 6 wind chill. It was a very fast almost 2 miles walkabout.

We only got an inch or so of snow. I’m so thankful that it wasn’t worse. I feel so badly for those people in the “real” storm, especially SE Alabama and the tornadoes! Jana definitely shared her snow with us!

Mary—I love your swap, but as you know I am unable to participate with everything in limbo with Mom. My sister gave me a list of dates she needs me in addition to my regular Fridays for their breaks. Her DH is having knee replacement next month, and I’ll be taking care of Mom. I don’t think I’ll ever see “normal routine” again. Ever. Your doggie bag and blankie are so, so cute!!! I think your dog looks a lot like Odie! What kind of puppy do your friends have?

Becca—I hope you don’t get the tornadoes in your area! I know with all the rain you’ve had that wind can be disastrous. Now you are making me want hot chocolate! Sounds wonderful! We get pack rats that chew our vehicle wires and make nests! They are a mess!!!

I’ve been trying to get my sewing room cleaned up and incorporate some of the books and scraps I brought from Mom’s. I may try to get in there this afternoon. I need to pay some bills online and clean the floors again. I did them earlier before yoga.

Dinner tonight—either some yummy banned food (maybe in tacos???) or some stuffed ancho peppers which are leftovers and they were yummy as well. I cut up a fresh pineapple this morning, and we have banana bread. There’s also salad.

Bon appétit!

Good afternoon -

Hope that this works - will try it first and then add the rest of my day -

It worked! This is the cake that we did on Satrurday. each tier is 6 inches, divided into 3 layers each, red velvet and vanilla cake, filled with cheesecake mousse. The flowers are gum paste that the brides mom bought, so we didn't have to make those. The very bottom tier is made of rice krispy treat, that we cover with frosting - they were a hit!

The rest if my day here is laundry, laundry and more laundry! Yikes! I have four baskets with my loads sorted in them. Just have to hobble upstairs to change the loads. That is the one thing that Michael has not, will not do, is laundry - he has turned white underwear very pink, so he leaves that to me! He does many other things!

Dinner - I saw on Pioneer Woman a chicken balsamic stir fry over rice - that will be our dinner tonight. I need to go the grocery store anyway, so will get the one or two ingredients that I don't have.

Mary - I can hardly wait until it is warmer here to be outside, even if it is playing with weeds!

Chickie - I warned you! And there is another blast that is hitting California right now, that will be to me in a few days, sorry, but that will get passed on to you. Mom will be glad to have you quite often.

Becca - oh, hot chocolate! When it gets cold here too, I break out my old recipe and make some. My mom made it from scratch and taught all my kids that is the way that hot chocolate is made, so I have to have on hand, Ghirardelli Chocolate. not their hot choclate mix, just the chocolate in a can. It was hard to find here in Utah, but they carry it now.

Sarah has offically quit one of the myriad of jobs she did. The local farm is no longer on her list. The sod farm will take up all her time, so she told the farmer he was on his own. She has done this with him, many times, but this has to be it. They are friends and I know that he will get all the books and payroll messed up a few times, but she will straighten it out once more, maybe! LOL!

Well, I have 5 of the 9 blocks fused and sarah just called and needs a run down to the Sam's Club - so my sewing has been interrupted for a time -

Enjoy
