Supper Club, Saturday, Dec 22
Good morning !
Yesterday was nice. Warm and sunny. We went To the laundromat, the post office, and the cat food store in the morning. Traffic was so awful it took us an hour to get into the shopping center, buy the cat food, and get back out again. In the afternoon I had an hour to sit outside in the sunshine and read. Then we went to our friends for happy hour. There were six of us. They had tamales around the campfire! Something not found much at home but down here they are common and they are delicious! After that we played Golf (a card game) at the picnic table and I won. I never win! It was my big night!
Today we are going to Autumn‘s. It’s Nutcracker Suite day! I can’t wait! It’s going to be wonderful!
Velda, I found I didn’t have hamburger once when I wanted to make spaghetti. I’ve used sliced keilbasa, leftover roast, diced ham, nothing, and one time I used red kidney beans. Bill really loved the beans and now he wants me to add them, even if i do have meat in the sauce.
Chickie, I checked and we are getting a full extra minute of daylight here. I’m going to spend it with my daughter. What are you going to do with your minute? I havent heard from Irish. I dont know when shes returning home but I think before Christmas
Becca, are you ready? When is Denise arriving? You told us but I’ve already forgotten. I wouldnt mind a bowl of that potato soup ....
Jana, your talk of hiding christmas gifts remind me of when my brother, Jim’s, family got him a lounge chair for Christmas. It was in a big box from the store. They covered it with a blanket and set it in the corner of the living room. And Jim never noticed !
I am not planning dinner for tonight. We will be home sort of late. Autumn and I will probably get smething light after the ballet today. Bill and Aaron are on their own. If we are hungry when we get home I have eggs, plus ham & beans, chili, and soup in the freezer. Not only will we not starve, but we have choices!
What are your choices for tonight

Good morning!
Mary - oh what fun to go to the Nutcracker. I love that ballet and have seen it in California - the big production in Oakland with many of the Oakland A's baseball players as the guards with the mouse king. Here we have a great production as well. The dancers participate in the Choir's Christmas Concert.
As for the Ethanism, I saw I had told you already. My brain is getting old!
The quilt is half quilted. I called in my marker for sewing her drapes at Thanksgiving. She loaded the quilt for me. She got off cheap! I will be done today! YIPPEE!
A quick run to the grocery store to pick up the roasts and a few other things and then back to the Batt Cave. Dinner - humm, we will see what may fall out or a bowl of cheerios!
Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning! We have a family dinner today, and I have green bean casserole in the oven and have a fresh pineapple with frozen blackberries and a few maraschino cherries for color fruit salad made. I also have the white elephant prizes wrapped. I’m ready! It was different being home on Saturday morning, but I swept floors and did my yoga practice. I hope to walk this afternoon when we come home—will need it after all that eating! Usually they have another party in the evening—more eating! “Season’s Eatings” to you all!
I had a nice lunch with Mom yesterday. I was pleased to see she was using the Christmas place mat and napkin I made for her.
Last evening I wrapped all the runners and other gifts. I just have one gift to finish, then I want to finish the table runners for my tables for Tuesday. Maybe I’ll have a little time to make some cookies…
Mary—I wish I was there for tamales!!! Enjoy the Nutcracker! Sounds like you have a lovely day planned! And, you will be wearing your new (to you) clothes! I do love thrift shopping!
Jana—what fun to see the Oakland A’’s as guards! Do you remember they used to be the KC A’s, and before that the Philadelphia A’s? I remember when they came to KC. I’d listen to the games on my transistor radio. They had wonderful players that went on to star with the Yankees. Good luck with the quilt!!!
Velda—I’m with Mary and would eat vegetarian spaghetti sauce… bring on the mushrooms! I wondered if garment sewing had changed with less directions, or if it was me being older and dumber. I used to make everything, but no more unless the grands have something they want made or I made doll clothes. They have all outgrown dolls now.
Becca—we’ve had crazy weather here, too. I’m all about warmer days. We may have rain in the forecast for Tuesday.
Dinner here—definitely no more cooking! There will be leftovers from today’s dinner at the party tonight. I might make caramel popcorn to take for later, but we’ll see. We sure won’t starve!
Bon appétit!

Well it is late Saturday night. Tote is done, ready to wrap. Both quilts are done, just turning the last few inches of binding. Now, as for the Batt Cave, it is a disaster! But will get cleaned on Christmas Day, after all is unwrapped. Then I will finish some UFO's.
All my sewing is done!
