Supper club- fri, June 29

Good morning from LaPine OR! Nice here though we are parked right next to U. S. Highway 97 so lots of traffic noise. Yesterday I visited nice lqs here. There clearance rack held three fabrics I ‘needed’. 😉. What luck! Today we are checking out obsidian flow, lava flow, and cinder cone. Been several decades since I visited these places.

Irish I’m so sorry Kathy can’t make the trip but relieved they caught her DH’s problem and were able to correct it.

Becca, how old is Tallulah? 7-ish? Exciting age!

Chickie, I thought of you immediately when Bill told me about his co worker! I went to all girls school so pickin’s Would be very slim at MY reunion! For me, anyway. 😝

Tina, you and Chickie are too hot for me!!

Jana, you too!! We have no toaster. We Use our toaster Oven. What’s up on your design wall these days?

Pam, your bbq choices all sounded good!

I think Annette is doing supper tonite - pulled bbq chicken sandwiches and my leftover potato salad. And beans I think.

Good morning! We are under the “heat dome” which here is more of a steam dome with our humidity! Late yesterday afternoon when I picked blackberries, the temperature was 95 with a heat index of 112. We reached 98 actual temperature with a nasty heat index. I think I heard the only cool spot in the country is the Pacific Northwest! ENJOY, Mary!

I did the corn outside under what is left of our shade tree. DH went and finished the last little touch up at the little rental house. Now the freezer is full and waiting for DD and SIL to get their bags. Any more, I just fix the ears left in the shucks and cook them in the microwave then squeeze the ears out and leave the shucks and silks behind. They stay frozen well and do not get freezer burn with the protective shucks. We had the back of the pickup full of stalks of corn. The cows were so funny getting their treats. We served refreshments from our food trailer at the cows’ pool party in the pond. We throw the stalks in the little trailer behind the ATV as we work the ears. Makes an easy production line, ready to take to the pasture.

Today… I get a day off… maybe. I hope to find my sewing room, but if DH decides to do something stupid like work in this heat I’ll feel compelled to help him and make him keep hydrated. I’ll also pick blackberries this evening.

Oh, Irish—so sorry about Kathy’s DH and their not being able to go on the trip. On the other hand, he was home and not somewhere strange and have a real emergency situation. Whew!!! Enjoy your sweatshirt! I’m exposing more old skin than I should just to keep from sweltering. I pray no one comes to see us! They may be blinded by the sight! I didn’t put out tomatoes this year, but I will be taking a basket when I walk Choc. DS has a HUGE garden. I picked up a yellow squash the other day. I also ate some cherry tomatoes picked from the vine as I checked out his produce… like eating candy!

Pam—Your dinner sounds awesome! The people that bought the corner bar and grill owned a smoker on one of the corners in town during the summer. He was smoking meats last summer, but he got sick and isn’t able this year. DH likes his F--- with cornmeal coating best. I’ll take mine however it comes… baked, broiled, battered… I have popsicles in the freezer and had one yesterday afternoon. I butter my toast before toasting, but I use a toaster oven so I can do it flat. It definitely makes a mess in a vertical toaster.

Jana—when my regular toaster bit the dust, I got a toaster oven. I like it much better. Glad to hear you are cooling… send it this way…

Becca—your corn is really late there! This seems a little early. Used to be Grandma and Grandpa said “fresh corn and tomatoes on 4th of July”.

Mary—dinner at your site sounds yummy! How great to find those fabrics you “needed”!!! Your visit sites sound like fun places. I can show you wheat stubble fields, cows in ponds, sweet corn patch, and lots of HEAT.

Dinner here… something easy and cool! I think I can find leftovers to warm as well as corn. We won’t starve, for sure.

Bon appétit! Send cooler weather… please!

Hi ladies,
I have been missing in action! At least here, anyway.
Busy, busy summer. Have kids going in all directions, and JR too!
I have also been trying to stay away from the computer, I seem to get more done that way, and I have lots to do. Am working on another t-shirt quilt for my great niece, you know, the one that was supposed to have them to me by the first of the year? Well, got them a few weeks ago, but she is on the back burner, I have two more in front of her, and also a baby quilt I need by October.....and other stuff too!
Not much of a garden here, we did finally get some stuff in, and it looks good, but will be really, really late, if it does any good.
We have been eating, but a lot of sandwiches, and salads, between work and running kids to practices, games, band camps and the big shocker, another season of color guard! Ian has decided that would be preferable as opposed to marching band, and of course, Brytt just has to help this summer! She is getting ready for college in August, but she has a trip to Florida with her dad in July, and another trip to South Carolina with her mom and siblings, and then, her brother surprised her for graduation to a trip on both their bucket lists to Japan, along with two other cousins, so she will be busy. I don't think they are going to Japan until Fall though......
Well, need to get back at it, probably won't be around a lot this summer, have family reunion to get ready for in July, and, I think my retirement has been pushed until the first week in January....my boss thinks that will be better for all. We will see, I guess.....
Have a great weekend. Becky

Maryz Tallulah is 4 now.Shes tall for her age. What a good find on your fabric. And your places to visit must be fun.

Chickie How do you ever stand that heat. I would not wantto be outside. Those blackberries are worth the heat & the fresh corn too.YUM!!

Becky Your Summer must be busy busy.Just enjoy your Reunion.

Irish Sure sorry to hear about Kathy & her DH but better Home than away.Do enjoy your trip. Those grands take good care of you & Terry too.

Jana We have hada toaster oven for years.Too funny aboutthe burnt toast.our Toasteroven is mounted under one of my top cabinets.I dont like things on counter either. Our microwave is above the stove.

Pam I do have trouble gettingprotein but I do eat nuts every day & Peanut butter if I need protein & I tryto eat beans too.that isnt enoughprotein for DH.But you can get it in many other sources. All your smoked food sounds good.I wouldgive them business too.

After another day of dealingwith a car We do have our own car now.State Farm tried to charge us 100 deductible & we have 0 deductible so another round with them.Next wk we go about changing toother Co.

Good afternoon!

What a difference a day makes. We dropped in temperature to 72! That is perfect in my book.

Not much here. Helped Aaron get the pork shoudler roasts he needed. Took us to two different Sam's clubs. The first one, nearest here, was another customer who bought two cases of the roasts and needed more, so we left and went over to the other Sam's - they had plenty. The guy at the first Sam's was going to head over to the second one to get more roasts there too. We got there first! LOL!

I am very picky about things out on my counters in the kitchen. What makes me happiest is that there is nothing, but I have given in to my mixer out. A toaster oven would be too much and too big. Even my mictowave is in a cabinet out of sight. Before the kitchen remodel, the microwave was the vent combo above the stove. Now there is a small hood vent. So my island is red, so is my mixer and because the toaster has to live on the counter, it is red too. I know, as Michael tells me, I am a fussy lityle engine! Oh, it is a genetic thing. Sarah is the same way at her house.

Dinner - leftovers from last night. A corned beef sandwich. Maybe a bag of chips and some onion dip to go along with.

Enjoy!
Jana
