The Power of Praise filled Giving
1 Chronicles 29:1-20

Davids life was winding down, and he wanted to pave the way for his son's reign and for the construction of the great temple. He arranged for vast sums of raw materials to be stockpiled for the project. As one of his last official gestures as king, David announced he would add his own personal gift from out of his treasures as the king. He challenged others to give in the same spirit, out of honor to God. Other leaders stepped up and gave. The resulting offering provided much of the funding for the construction of the temple.

The people were amazed at their own generosity. King David was deeply touched by their giving and lifted up one of the greatest prayers of praise in the Bible. It wants a long prayer, but every word exalted God and recognized Him as the ultimate supplier of all things.

What more appropriate way to acknowledge God as the head over all and the owner of everything than by contributing generously to the building of a grand temple that would honor Him?

Powerful prayer includes lavish praise to God for His generosity. It also includes giving to God out of a praise-filled heart. To do otherwise reveals that we revere our possessions more than our God, who has given us all that we have..

At church, we have been asked to "minister", give love and service to one another. Listen to that still small voice and be tbere to share what we can. We each have been given much here, even though we may not think so. What blessings we have, an abundance, freedom to worship and to assemble. We can share all we have, in small ways, even the small way of teaching and sharing the truths of the gospel.
