SUPPER CLUB - Wed, April 11

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Apr 11, 2018 3:27 am

Good morning!

The birds are singing this morning! Going to be a good day! and I have no appointments, commitments, or errands to run. Just my morning walk. I have a few uglies I might do - or I might not. and some quality time in my sewing room. I made a few changes in the sewing room, swapped my cutting table and my work table around, and Everything seems to be flowing better. Love being in there! I also need to plan what project I want to take with me in the trailer next week.

CHICKIE - I'm glad your DD's tests were 'normal' but bummed because that begs the question, "What's next?" I know how concerned you are so I am, too. Thoughts going with your whole family this week! So, the SIL is coming to your house for several days while you are trying to care for a fresh post-op patient?? Who's idea was this? Not yours, I know!!

BECCA - nice to have that gravel taken care of!

BECKY - so how did dinner at the in-laws go last night?

JANA - I've seen that pretty fabric line. What is the F&P pattern called that you are doing? I'm asking because I have no patterns of my own. ROFLOL!!! Even I couldn't keep a straight face when I said that! But really, what is it called. Ya never know, I might love it more than the 1,372 patterns of my own I have waiting for me. BTW, we've done the Feather River, route. Beautiful!!!

IRISH - Those are tough jobs you are tackling at your house. Would it be helpful if family were there when you do it? Or is it better to work through it on your own. Sad as it is, there is some catharsis there. (((hug))). I've got your dates written on my calendar. I'm not sure why, because I won't be here to look at my calendar! lol! We'll be gone the 15th-20th. We'll be on a beach, but probably not in shorts and tanks!! When Nick comes home will he stay with his dad or maybe with you?

PAM - thanks! I'd forgotten about my cast iron. It got shoved way to the back of the cupboard when I bought my glass-top stove 10 years ago. They said don't use cast iron on it. Scratches easily, I suppose was their reasoning. But I'll dig it out. Do love cast iron cooking! And for that helpful hint, you're getting a pass for mentioning the F-word in Supper Club. Here, we refer to, shudder, Fish as "mac and cheese". I can't abide anything from the water. Nothing. Nada. Zippo. And since I've elected myself queen, I get to make the decree that we all eat "Macaroni & Cheese". Sometimes we even eat real mac & cheese! Becca really squeeked by with her s----n cakes. And, BECCA, don't think I didn't notice that!! So, them's the rules. And don't be talking up liver either. That's even worse! ;o)

So, now, on to what's for OUR supper! I have some cooked chicken breast so I think I'm going to make a chicken salad and serve it over fresh baby spinach.

What's the supper story at your house?

Good morning!

Mary - the pattern is called Starring Sunflowers on the Quilting Company website. It is just one block you make and as it is set together, it makes a secondary pattern. The border is fun too, then the border stripe of sunflowers. It is a very easy pattern, one you would have completed in a day! On the F&P show in the tips section, they showed and said that you could use any large floral for the outside border - that it worked well too. Part of my fabric is already on it's way today. Fabric.com is quick!

Dinner - I have a couple of pieces of chicken I will grill with homemade noodles romanoff - like the old stuff from the box. I found a copycat recipe that tastes just like the old box stuff. A salad or fresh green beans too.

No Lila yet, only two more days for her choice of birthdays. Kate calls on Friday to see what time the hospital wants her to come in and be induced.

Ethan got the toys put away yesterday. Took him five whole minutes! Then we played several rounds of Sorry. Sarah has him today and they are heading off after school for some new shoes for him. He is out growing everything! He is taller than most of the 3rd graders and is in kindergarten! Towers over his classmates!

Enjoy!

Good morning!

Ha, ha!!! Pam, don’t let Mary scare you off!!! I eat all of her not-favorite foods including the L-word! The poor girl rolls her eyes and cringes, I know. What’s really funny is they came to visit us the first time. I thought I’d fix something unique—bass from our farm pond. Well, we tried and tried and didn’t get enough to fix, so we had something with beef. I’m sure she would have never returned if I’d served her pond portions. She puts on a good show, but she does “allow” her friends to transgress. (I couldn’t survive if I didn’t have those yummy goodies from the sea/gulf/pond!) The queen may decree, but… the peons revolt!

Mary—I use cast iron on my glass top all the time. I know the instructions said not to, but DD’s SIL does it all, and I decided I would too. You’ve seen photos of my wall and hangers of cast iron… I also use my canner and other pans that the instructions said not to use. But… when do I follow the rules (see paragraph above)?

Jana—I love the pattern! Your quilt will be beautiful! I have fabrics that would work, but I have too many other items ahead to order it. I don’t get the magazine any more. I was like Ethan when I was in school. They brought down a special table and chair for me from the 4th grade class when I was in 2nd grade. I was one of the youngest in class, too. Thanks for the “good news” stories regarding the surgeries! When we came from SF to Kansas in the summers, we took different train routes—Union Pacific, Southern Pacific, Santa Fe. They were all so much fun. One of the highlights of the road trip Mom, DD and I took in 1985 was driving next to the Truckee River and the railroad lines that we had traveled so many years before. I recognized it instantly.

I’m trying to get things in order here for the big day tomorrow. We will be up at almost normal bedtime. It will be ROUGH on DH! You’re right… SIL staying was not my idea. Anybody’s guess as to how long she will grace(?) us with her presence. I have a dental appointment on Monday, so I’ll be happy to run for the hills.

I got DD’s quilt sandwiched yesterday. I’ll start quilting on it next week or whenever I have a sewing room. It’s the “guest” room, too.

Becky—how was the dinner. Ice cream, lots of it!, makes everything better!

Irish—hope you will be warming soon! So excited for you and your Florida trip! I think our hunters will be up here next weekend from Ft. Myers. You have been busy!

Dinner here—I believe I’ll just have a big salad. DH can have some broth and jello. It’s so boring here. I am somewhat creative with my salads. DH has lost 25 pounds in 2 weeks! I’m pretty much staying the same. I thought I might lose while trying to not eat much yummy stuff in front of him.

Bon appétit!

Hello everyone,sunny here & beautiful.
Maryz I laughed when I saw the word yesterday.I knew you wouldn’t miss it.I wanted you to know mine was patties so I spelled it.lol ROF
We have been spreading this morning the gravel he carried down the hill for us with his scout. It really saved us a lot of work.We got finished. We keep up a 1/4 mile.Everyone else just rides on it & sees nothing that needs attention.I told DH I would never live wth shared road again. When we bought our land we were the only ones & our DS But since then more use it but don’t help.Sorry about my rant.

Chickie Do I need to rescue you? Seems she picked a bad time to be a house guest when you are caring for the patient.I really laughed about the word being used yesterday.Knew we would get a rise out of Mary.lol
Prayers for DHs surgery & for DD too.Thats greathes Lost Before the Surgery.

Irish Im Anxious for you to goon your trip. And that’s wonderful what you are doing at Home too. Some people just won’t let the clothes go.Youre a trooper & I’m proud of you.So glad Nick will be with you this Summer.

Hi ladies.
Well, I did survive. Luckily enough, JR's uncle wanted to take us out to dinner at Cracker Barrel. Hummmm.... wonder if he has had enough of her cooking these past few days. LOL...We did go back to the house afterward and have cobbler and ice cream. Good thing there was ice cream. Anyway, survived that, I had the roast beef, JR had chicken and dumplings, so all was good.
Tonight, I think we are having grilled ham and cheese sandwiches and fries, although, I am not sure what JR will eat yet. He isn't able to bit down to break it off, and I am sure he doesn't want to cut that into little pieces, but no worries, he will have several choices. I think I take after my Grandma, always something to eat. Maybe that is why we look like we do.
Mary, are you going to let Pam get away with that? LOL.....Welcome Pam.
Becca, don't work too hard on that gravel. I think that may be a little too much fresh air!
Good luck to Doyal tomorrow Chickie....and we have no baby yet, Jana?
Irish, have a great time on your trip. JR's uncle that is here told his wife that they needed to come back to see snow occasionally, she was not impressed. Ha....she wanted to turn around and go right back to Florida.
Hope all is well....have a great evening....Becky

Oh how funny. I am so chastized! DH is working a double, today. So.... it's a good day for leftovers. I will have his leftover taco meat from the other day, a baked potato, and ocean fresh "mac n cheese."

Jana, my nephew is a big boy. When he was in Little League, sometimes the opposing coaches wanted proof her was as young as he should be.

HaHa, Chickie! Ieat the L word, too. Just once in a while. I eat it when we have fresh venison.

Becca, send the deadbeats a bill for their part of the cost. You never know. Some might pay it.

Becky, I think that is a good idea about the snow. I love snow. It gets a little old, sometimes, but I am glad I live in NY. I lived in Maryland, one year, and didn't like the lack of a nice winter season.

Mary, I envy you your sewing room. I have one set up upstairs that got stuff piled in it, and an area in the dining room that has stuff in it. I am thinking of pulling everything out of my side of the bedroom and setting up in there. I would like to clean out the upstairs room and check into fostering. We never could have children. We did raise DH's little brother, but I couldn't carry any.

Have a lovely day, everybody!
Pam
