SUPPER CLUB - Friday, March 16th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Mar 16, 2018 3:46 am

Good morning!

Such a nice day yesterday! We cleaned the house and garage. Al & June cleaned the trailer. We all met outside about noon to sit in the sunshine and relax a bit before they all went for naps and I got to SEW! When they woke, we had a short campfire, good supper, TV, and an early night.

Today, we're off to SEattle to visit Albert. He had a bit of a setback yesterday and is back on ice chips. My son visited him after work last night and he reported Al was in good spirits despite all he's been through.

CHICKIE - prayers offered up for your DD. I hope all comes out healthy! You have had a few busy days! Hope you came out healthy, too! I know your Hooligans are just happy to be your escorts!

BECCA - OOh, great that you already have something that might work for the wedding if you don't find something else you like. You could accessorize differently so you don't look the same for the second wedding if that's of concern.

LINDA - glad you are getting those termites taken care of! We love camping and have often camped for holidays. But sometimes, it's a treat to do the lodge thing. But so weird you can't get on the reservation line. Have you tried making rezzies early despite what the rules say?

JANA - perhaps you haven't heard but it's mid-March and you should be chasing the snow out of there! Every time I see a white Highlander I think of you!

TiNA - we miss you. Hurry back!

IRISH - when you are ready, we have your chair ready. In your case, I'll even be willing to disturb the cats so you can sit at the table with us!

Last night we had a small pot roast. I seared it on both sides and popped it into the crock pot and poured a purchased packet of "Tavern" sauce (gravy) over it. it was so good! Al made mashed potatoes and we also had lima beans (for us sisters) and green beans (for the boys). And hot rolls. And we finished off the cake. What a great supper! We have enough leftovers to make a small pot of veggie beef soup for another meal.

Tonite, we are meeting friends, Gus & Claudia, for happy hour at the Mexican restaurant. So no cooking for anybody but the cooks at Mocntezuma's.

Is there cooking at your house?

Good morning! We are under high wind and fire warnings today. DS fought a big arson grass fire in the southern part of the county yesterday afternoon.

Last evening we had a new baby, and I got to witness the birth. One of the “yellowish” cows had a little gray bull. She worked awfully hard to get it out, and it is a pretty good size. I grunted with her. Now we have two little gray bulls. ‘Tis the season!!!

The Hooligans accompanied me yesterday. They are really good to sit and wait. I have a treat jar in the truck, so they get their rewards. After my exam (no bone density after I wore my yoga clothes because Medicare only allows every 2 years), I met DD for lunch. We debated where to go and settled on our favorite Chinese for soup, pot stickers and an order of moo goo gai pan. We ate almost none of the moo goo gai pan, and I brought it back for Mom for dinner. She had called and wanted to know if I would stop by as she had some bones for the dogs. I sat with her and visited awhile.

DD will be having still more tests. They are eliminating the less serious things first, and I think they are about finished there and are going for things like cancer next…

I’m on dog duty today. DS texted last evening and said he had to go to work last night and wouldn’t be back until Saturday morning—granddogma on the job!

Mary—Hope all goes well with your DB today! They won’t release him until he is “good to go”.

Irish--hope the numbness is getting better... I only had 23 years, and you have over 50 years of loss. On the good side--50+ years of special times, great memories, and loads of love!!! Best wishes, My Friend! HUGS!!!

Linda—that lodge always looks so beautiful! Camping would be fun, too. Can’t believe that kind of demand!

Jana—I cringe when I think of snow. My daffodils finally popped up and are blooming! Last week they were still little nubs.

Tina—know you are super busy, too! Will you get a break when the kids have spring break? How’s it going with DH’s retirement?

Becca—hope you find what you want to wear! I have to come up with something for June. I found a long skirt at my favorite store. I think I have a t-shirt and sweater to go with it. Yesterday DD got to take a longer lunch hour with me, and we stopped in again. I found a pair of jeans and a skirt for Mom. It is a size too big, and I brought it home and will alter it today for her to have tomorrow. I don’t think it’s ever been worn.

Dinner tonight… It will probably be BBQ. I also have soup for me. Nothing special here. No inspiration.

Bon appétit!

Good late afternoon!

Ethan is here and I am taking him to piano lessons in a couple of minutes. The teacher is just down the street he lives on, so I will drive him over. Also fixing a couple of dresses for a friend - easy fixes. Ironed all my fabrics for the quilt - now to multiply the number of strips needed for each section of the log cabin blocks and measure to see that I have enough fabric, before I cut up anything. The date on the side of the fabric selvedge is 2009, I have had it awhile - so I can't match to much as the color palettes change at the whim of the designers. I did get one piece for the last log that goes well.

My daffodils and tulips have popped up their heads in my backyard. I can see them from the Batt Cave window . They will bloom shortly. More snow this weekend, but it is spring snow and doesn't last long on the ground. What we got in the past few days is totally melted off and gone.

Dinner - we have leftovers from dinner out last night and I am in the mood to cook a cauliflower that I bought the other day - DH won't eat that, so it is a small one, just for me! LOL

Mary - sorry for the short setback for Albert. Your cleaning fairy needs to come to my house - I am hiding in the Batt Cave - hoping that fairy shows up before I have to do it! LOL

Chickie - the wind is not from me - mine has shifted and is coming from the south bringing snow and rain from Chriss. I watched part of a auction on RFD-TV the other day where the company was renting out their bulls for a year or so at a time. Never heard of such a thing. And if you wanted to buy the bull, it cost 5 times more than the rental price. You could rent out those new bulls - easier than cleaning the rentals in town! Lots of prayers for your DD.

Becca - closets are great treasure troves of clothes! Glad that you found one that will work. Tops are easy to find.

Well, time to run little boy over to his lessons -

Enjoy!
Jana
