SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Nov 21

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Nov 21, 2017 3:06 am

Good morning!

We've got heavy rain this morning. Yesterday was nice after 10am but not today!! I think today is a good day for the Maytag Mambo. I also have a massage appointment at 1:30 so that will cut into the day. I will probably relax when I get home from that. And in between everything, I'll probably sew a little bit. I want to put some lotto blocks together, but there's not enough even for a small quilt, so I may have to make more blocks. Pastel floral Jacob's Ladder blocks. They are so pretty, but 9 blocks doesn't give me much to work with. There were more, but I used them for a different project. And I also want to make a tote bag for a gift. So no lack of things to do here!

CHICKIE - I'll be missing the turkey leftovers here! Everyone requested ham this year. But I do have a turkey breast in the freezer. I may make that this weekend . . Or I may save it for Christmas Eve. Decisions!! I think it's OK to feed the calves without your face on. They won't tell anybody! lol!!

BECCA - I wonder what's going on with your computer/internet. Just know we were thinking of you!!

JANA - What a nightmare of forms, red tape, etc it is to sign up for anything anymore! I wish you luck! Bill went two years before me and had all the info down, so he was a big help to me!

TINA - I bet your tamales taste wonderful! What do you think made them dry? I feel for Frankie! Hope he's feeling better today. You are probably spending the day starting preparations for TG at your house.

IRISH - thinking of you! And also the young policeman killed near you. I cringe every time I see another law enforcement officer down and pray for his family. Didn't you say you were going to your sister's for TG? Will Jim be able to go with?

Bill isn't up yet, but I'm going to talk to him when I see is sparkling face - hahaha! that was funny!! - Anyway, when he drags his groggy self out of bed, I'm going to ask if he'd like to go out for Italian tonite (it's half price wine night!) or if he wants pork chops and leftover rice & mushroom gravy for supper. His choice.

What's your choice for tonite?

P.S. This just in - Bill jumped all over the Italian restaurant idea for tonite. Whoo Hoo! No cooking for me! He's so easy. He's putty in my hands!

Good morning! It’s a gray day here with slight rain chances this morning. That’s o.k. I need to stay inside and work. I’ll make my big noodles today and let them dry. I’ll probably cut up my bread for dressing and get it ready. I may make crust for blackberry cobbler as well. In between I will be working on the comfort quilt.

Speaking of comfort quilts, I made one for a friend of DD’s undergoing chemo. She said she loves it and uses it all the time. She has a wonderful positive attitude. Her doctor told her that he really didn’t expect to see her still alive, but she seems to be beating all the odds and hopefully will work out of a dire prognosis to a good one.

Tina—I’d take dry tamales. I’d just crape out the masa and add sauce. No problem here! Your family is spoiled. I’m desperate.

Jana—thankfully I was able to go to a SS office in person. It is about 30 miles away. Getting my driver license is more of a headache.

Mary—I vote for turkey breast any time! Lucky you… dinner plans and no cooking!!!

Dinner tonight… I’m sure we won’t starve. We had turkey sandwiches again last night. I think I’ll give him steak and potato with salad and maybe just salad for me.

Have a great day! Bon appétit!

Good morning :)
Mary, I envy you getting a massage. ...I miss my girl. ... so does my back. Rain. .. I'll have some please :) I seem to always do a turkey and a ham. .... you could too. .. just sayin LOL I'm always happy to help you out in the kitchen ;) giving unsolicited advise LOL
Chickie, you really had me laughing out loud this morning. .. desperate LOL too funny.
I'm not sure what made my tamales dry. ..I did use a different brand of masa so that might've been it. I have been informed by many that they will hurry up and eat them so I can make another batch LOL the stinkers.
I'm just going to heat up the leftover soup for supper. I'm kinda busy trying to get bed clothes washed and the house cleaned up for the holidays. Lots of little things to do and a couple big things. I was going to watch Mom here at my house but she chose to have my sister sit with her in her motor home because I wouldn't. That's fine with me. .. she's the one that says she'll steal from her if she falls asleep. Dad went to try to get the last little bit finished up for the move. There's the tv's to lay down and the book cases and curio cabinets. ...I don't know of anything else but I imagine he'll stay gone as long as he can. I better scoot.
Tina

Morning everyone:

DH made us Thanksgiving dinner Sunday since we are leaving tomorrow and won't be back until Saturday. He wanted to have leftovers. I have to stay out of his way while he is doing his thing in our small kitchen, which is fine with me. The meal was delicious and we packed away 5 bags of turkey with the foodsaver. So yesterday was clean up the kitchen. I put the oven through its clean cycle, mopped and polished the wood floors, washed the throw mats, shined up the quartz countertops and cleaned the cook top. Now it all sparkles again. Ready for the next meal he cooks.

Our weather has been fog in the am's but nice in the afternoons. I am beginning to strip my roses of all their leaves to force them into dormancy. I will cut them back end of December. My arms are full of little scabs though, from all the thorns stabs. It is too warm for me to wear my arm's length rubber gloves. DH is still working on digging out all the roots of the tea bamboo.

In the evenings, while DH is watching his TV I have been sewing. I bought some of the Singer fabric and have been wanting to sew up cover mats for my restored 15-91, Annie, that I do all my piecing on. I got two of the sides done and now I need to make the machine dust cover. It sure makes Annie look regal. Check out the pics in Photos.

Dinner tonight is turkey hash night. I throw turkey, gravey, stuff, peas and corn all together in the fry pan and heat. Love it.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families, and hugs to you all.

Good afternoon from a very sunny, gorgeous but chilly, SW. Pa....Not sure what the temp is but with the sun, it's heavenly...Having sun makes the world of difference, sure can make a person feel so much better.....

Mary, One of these days, I'm going to have to get a massage...Now that I'm thinking, that would be a great Christmas gift, wouldn't it, might have to do some hinting.....I was so happy to read that your friend had been found...What a frightening experience and I can only imagine what they went through....
We, I hope, are going to Kevin and Cindy's for Thanksgiving dinner...I think Jim is more familiar with Kevin's house and will be comfortable..Terry did ask but they are having several people and not sure how Jim would react..But, I might stop over after I take Jim back...And, my sister asked also and her house will really be full..There again, that might be my stop on Friday, lol...

Becca, wouldn't it be great if you can get rid of that BP meds? I keep saying, I'd like to shuck the whole bunch of them. And here I am, an old lady and still taking hormone replacement which I was going to stop but just read, it might help prevent dementia...Gee, just can't win! Of course everyone knows, it's much safer if I continue to take those darn pills, lol....
With everyone talking "turkey" I'm getting hungry.....

Chickie, you really don't take much down time, do you? Always on the go and always doing something if not for yourself, then for someone else....You are special.....

Tina, you're another one, can't keep up with you...I always think, your Mom doesn't know what a treasure she has in you... And, I'm going to hang my head in shame, I've never had a tamale.....Sure hope you're able to enjoy your holiday......

Linda, I don't blame you for staying out of DH's way when he's doing his thing in the kitchen....Especially, if you get results like that....Enjoy your trip and also enjoy all those left overs.....

Well, my house is buzzing today....My painters are here and are almost done...They're just doing ceilings but there were a couple of cracks that they wanted to fix...They are 2 young men and can do just about anything or everything, except carpeting...Right now, I have no drapes or curtains up and all the furniture is scattered along with all the pictures...Thank goodness this kitchen is closed on Thanksgiving, lol...But, when I talked to DGS, Dan, he wanted to know about breakfast....Most of the grands will be in town and they do usually come here but, sorry, not this time...I'm thinking, we just might all show up at Terry's, surprise! Although, they still don't know when the funeral service will be for his ex MIL...I guess they're having a hard time with plane reservations from S. Carolina...

And, if anyone has seen any of my local news, the fellow accused of shooting the policeman has been caught...Tomorrow will be the policeman's funeral...It's just so hard to imagine what that family is going through.....

when I visited with Jim yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised....He was more aware and when I told him I was having the car looked at, he asked if I was having a problem...I also made an appointment at the dentist for tomorrow afternoon so we'll see how that goes....

Not sure what will be...Last night, on my way home for seeing Jim, I stopped at KFC and picked up stuff for Terry and myself and then we dropped off the car...

You all have a great day............

Happy eating...........

Oh my, BIG NEWS.....

We have an egg in the Ft. Myers nest....Harriet laid the 1st egg on Sunday around 3:30 and now, we're waiting for the 2nd....So eggsciting.......

Good almost afternoon!

Much better mood than yesterday. Just got off the phone with both gov't agencies. No wait time on hold, good thing. I do have a appointment - Jan 9th, bad thing. Puts getting everything paperwork wise in the iffy zone to be completed by deadlines. The helpful girl at Calpers gave me all the ins and outs to get the paperwork to them and not wait for SSA to get it there - good thing. And how to get around all the wait times. So we may do a walk in here with SSA and stand in line to get it done sooner - we shall see.

Dinner - Tina and her tamales have me hungry for one, so I will raid my stash that Daniel brought. I am not fond of tamales made with masa, but love them made with polenta. Those are what I have downstairs. Every year, after Thanksgiving was over, my mom, aunt and grandmother made tamales and froze them with the leftover turkey for New Year's Eve dinner.

Time to scoot off, Michael is pacing to go and see and drive on the new orange cone free roads, LOL,

Jana
