Top 'o' the Mornin' to ye!

Who all here is Irish! Show of glasses! lol! I actually am. Mom's dad came straight from Galway. And boy, did my mom love her Irish heritage! She and her aunt would dress up in their green, make tissue paper flowers on headbands, decorate the car, and off they'd go for the day. No one ever knew where they went, but they came home laughing, eyes twinkling and cheeks glowing! Neither drank, so I suspect it was just shopping and lunch, but neither would ever tell!

Yesterday we had sunshine and almost 50*! I got a little bit of yard work done! I cleaned my linen closet FINALLY (have a box of table cloths as well as a box of glass candle holders to get rid of), got in a bit of sewing, and we visited my SIL, Terry, who came home for a month to do taxes and clear stuff from her house, clean closets out, etc. She may rent the house and stay with her DD in Vegas indefinitely. Today, maybe hold more of the same for me. I am so out of yard working shape, though, I found myself wishing the rain would return so I could go inside! lol!

BECCA - so nice your family came to spend the afternoon. The little ones are at that oh-so-cute stage! And if you were entitled to a new Trane, I'd sure insist on getting it! Who knows what the next problem will be. Usually the name Trane is associated with dependable quality.

JANA - good luck to Kate for her job interview! They'd be lucky to have her! So what kind of RV did Matt get? Brand? Motorhome or trailer? if trailer, a fifth-wheel or bumper pull? Size? RV people always want all the details, you know. Your recipe was a hit with our friends. It's going to become a company staple at our house from now on! Thanks again!!

IRISH - I know this is a special day in your house! I sure hope your sis does well. And her son, too! He BETTER listen to the doctors and stay in bed. We don't want those clots to travel with activity, which increases the rate of circulation. Was Jim's appointment yesterday or today? KATHY may have sunshine now, but what did she have a month ago? Mountains of snow! Maybe she needs reminding of that if she's going to taunt you with her sunny days! lol! I'm picturing that little eagle trying to make it back to the next. But once they see the 'big city lights' it's hard to keep them down on the farm! lol!

CHICKIE - is today the day Ms. Lint comes to your house? Hope that all comes off OK! Sure the Hooligans will be helpful! Yes, Scottie comes running when he hears TV dogs. But last night, it was close-ups of birds chirping on our big screen. And that got Foxy's attention! We kept rewinding so he could see them again and again. Whiskers twitching, he finally hopped off the couch and ran over to the TV - no birds there, just that electronic thing - so he leaped up on the windowsill behind the TV and kept looking out the window for those birds! Finally, he jumped down and shot out the cat flap to the front yard. He KNEW those birds were there! He was so funny!

TINA - I'm so sorry about your brother and the news he had to share with you. I'm glad you got to talk to him. I hope you can make your phone calls a more regular thing now.

Well, today I MAY make Irish butter cookies. My SIL gave me the recipe yesterday. Though the last thing we need is goodies. Supper tonite, sadly, won't be green anything. We have leftover Italian Baked Ziti, and it must be eaten, so thats' the plan. But we WILL have a green salad! I think that counts, right?

What's on your St. Patrick's menu for tonite?

Top ‘o the mornin’ to ye, too!

I think I’m probably close to Irish… lots of UK lineage as well as some German (not Irish there). My daughter definitely is Irish on her dad’s side and has the red hair and green eyes as proof. I just have eyes that change color with what I’m wearing. Today they really look green with my shirt. When I worked, I changed my name plate to a more Irish name. Today I am Maeve Maureen O’Shay.

Mary—I love your memory stories!!! So what if the ladies had a bit o’ the green beer… Cute! I could do with a bit o' the Irish cream whiskey in my after dinner coffee...

Yesterday I helped DH build a pen for Miss Pocket Lint. She will have quite a bit of room and will be close by. We are going to bring her here tomorrow. It should be quite funny if I’m the one in the back of the pick up with her! Everything you imagine only more funny!!! Since we are going to be gone this evening, I wanted to keep her in familiar surroundings for tonight.

Foxy must be a hoot! Brutus used to bat at the TV when there were birds or animals on it. Brutus was my 20# Tabby that chased dogs. They are so much fun to watch!

Do you need to buy the Irish butter to make Irish butter cookies? Everyone says the Irish butter is so much better than the “regular” stuff. I may have to spring for some Kerry Gold.

We will be having that special Lenten dinner tonight that we missed last week. I’ll be having a green salad as part of my fare, but this is my special dinner from the deep green sea, so… There may be green beer for afters—our friends hinted, but that may not happen.

Bon appétit!

Top O Morning!

Well, i have a Irish last name, but not a drop of Irish blood in the family. Scottish and alot of Portuguese- what a mix! LOL FIL used his step father's name, which was the Irish.

Dinner is traditional fare, just no cabbage.

Matt's new trailer will be a fifth wheel and he calls it a bunkhouse. They have it picked out, but need a few things done first, like the pad to park it on and the hitch in his truck. I don't know the brand name, but it has quite a few amenities. One is a outside grill area with a small refrigerator , that opens with a door on the outside of the rig.

Chickie - thanks for the info on Lil Miss- she will love being near you and the hooligans.

Enjoy!
Jana

Good Morning from Kan City, MO. Home at last. Been in Texas for over a week. Tried to grab a computer when I could but missed out on lots of news. Need to finish unpacking and start Mt Washmore. busy day ahead.

Rod (DH), very irish complete with red hair and red beard mixed in with the grey and white, is fixing our special Irish dinner in the crockpot. Yummy stuff.....corned beef, cabbage, and carrots cooking away. Inviting in at least one neighbor maybe more. That neighbor took very good care of our kitties while we were gone, letting them in and out of house. They look chubby, so know he fed them well. LOL The least we can do is feed him a good meal.

Flo...... so sorry to hear about your Dad. Prayers for you and your family. May God bring you comfort and peace to get you thru the sad days ahead. All those happy memories of him are tucked in your heart to be there anytime for you. No one can take that away from you.

Becca......prayers continue for the twins but congrats on the new little arrivals. Sound like a really good weight.....will be home sooner than you think. God bless you and your growing family.

Farmchick.....love hearing about Ms Pocket Lint. Is it a calf or am I wrong. Haven't read a lot in last week or so. You have such a neat place with all the critters and pets and who knows what. We were visiting our DD2 and her family in Texas.

They bought an old farm house (82 yrs old) and are remodeling it. Complete with 9 acres. Still working on fencing so they can put in a few cows for beef and milk and maybe some ckns and a huge garden. Had so much fun spending a week in the country. You are truly blessed where you live.

Jana.....always love to hear about your girls you teach. What a talent from God and you share it with such a special group.... children.

Your family is always up to something... little Ethan must keep you all hopping. Congrats to DD and natl anthem. What an awesome talent to share with so many others. So enjoy stories of your family and home.

Irish....I know you too are always busy with family. Happy St pat's day to you. With a name like Irish, you have to celebrate. Make it a great one. You all are in my prayers.

I have missed reading each day. Ate way too much last week, when someone else cooks, just tend to enjoy it too much and pig out. LOL Our older DD1 drove up to meet us from New Orleans sat and sun. She brought lots of canned goods to send home with us. Have you ever had watermelon jelly? Good stuff.

Gotta scoot. More unpacking to do, laundry is waiting, and cats are crying for attention too. Guess they missed us. Shadow usually sleeps on my arm or shoulder if he crawls in bed with me. Last night He sprawled across my upper body, right under my chin, tail on one side and front paws wrapped around my neck and arm. He wasn't going to let me get away again. LOL

God bless you all today and always. Enjoy your irish celebrations today. Prayers for all your needs too, medical or otherwise.

Love and hugs, Shirley Mae

Mary....you are such a busy lady...how do you do it all? Would love to see the Irish butter cookie recipe. With all the redheads in our family, no doubt there is irish in there somewhere from both sides of the family. Love the stories of your pets and all your friends and family too.

Tina.....sorry to hear about your brother and all his medical problems. Will keep him on my prayer list and you too. God bless you. You do so much for others, when do you rest? Hug those little DGKs. I had not seen the ones in Texas for 3 yrs. At 11 and 14, definitely have grown a lot since last time I saw them. Got lots of hugs this past week tho before we headed home.

ps, just looked at my posting and have no idea why it posted the way it did. I did not type it in that order. Guess the crazy little leprechauns played a joke on me. So the edit was to say, "what happened". Have a perfectly fun green day today. cheers to you all.

Top of the Mornin' Everyone! We are having a sunshiny day here in SW. Pa...A little chilly but nice and sunny, at least for awhile....

O'Mary, How could you not be Irish, with that red hair and that twinkle in your eyes....Funny story about your Mom, love it! Jim's family came from Northern Ireland in a very tiny village called Redridge, mine were from Sligo..Jim's brother's DW still has family over there and they go over almost every year to visit...I always remember my Mom, who had been all over the world, saying Ireland had to have been the most beautiful, peaceful place she had ever been, "God's Country".....And Kathy seems to have forgotten about the many feet of snow but I do have to be nice..She told me, there is a box waiting for me at the PO and I have a feeling it's filled with Jelly Bellies.....She knows how I love licorice and sends me some if her DH doesn't get to them 1st....

O'Jana, you always have good things happening in your house...I can see many happy trips in the "bunk house"...Lots of good memories...

O'Becca, hate to hear about heating and furnace problems...Not a good thing, especially this time of year...Hope your day is peaceful....

O'Mauve Maureen O'Shay, love, love that name....Thank you so much for the pictures and the nice long message...Also, glad to hear there is improvement in the baby's eyes...I really do hope someone will have a camera handy when the big move takes place....Enjoy that Irish dinner and if there's any green "liquid" have a drink for me....

Our day did a turn around...I had to cancel Jim's appointment, he just couldn't get moving and is still in his PJs. But, I did tell him, hoping to get him motivated, we would take a ride to Walmart (whoopee right)...And of course I need to get to the PO and see what goodies we might have....

This day has always been special to us. When Jim was working, he would dress completely in green from the socks up and everyone would make a big fuss...He also would take either green cake or cupcakes for quite a few of his staff and almost every year, there would be a picture of him in the company paper..But, sadly, those days seem to be gone...He knows this is St. Paddy's day, just because I'm in green and had him watching the QVC special, but it just doesn't mean too much....At one time, we would get more cards today than we would at Christmas so I know, there will be some in the mail, if I ever get down there, lol....

As for our dinner, just not sure...If we go out, I'm hoping the car finds a good place to stop..And who knows, since we did get special dispensation I just might make that Shepard's pie when we get back.....

Happy eating...........

As you travel on life's journey
May Saint Patrick guide your way
and send you many blessings
With every passing day

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
