Supper club, Tuesday, February 7

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Feb 07, 2017 1:02 am

Good morning!

We had a quite a breeze here yesterday. We gave up on our campfire last night and went inside for the rest of the evening. Today we are going over the border into California-11 miles. I have a little shopping to do in Blythe. I think tomorrow we will move up to Lake Mead. That is about 200 miles north.

As you know I will be happy to MoveOn. I like visiting heretor a few days, but I never want to stay for very long in the desert. I need my tall trees, thick underbrush, snowcapped mountains, and rain!

We are taking Terry into town to a pizza joint for early dinner today If we get hungry later in the evening we have things for a salad.

What is your supper plan?

Maryz Enjoy your trip away today.I would be ready to move on also.

TinaPrayers that things get better very soon for you.Its hard when parents age.I remember the times we had with ours.

Irish Guess we are staying young.lol Hope today brings smiles & good memories.

Carol I'm almost finished with th 2nd dishcloth.Thought I would try another pattern but just made that one again.Know it will wash good with all the texture it has.

Haven't decided yet what will grace our table .DH isn't interested in eating & it's hard to cook for someone who doesn't want to eat. Will let him choose.I thought about making Breakfast.Have a great day & happy eating to all. Becca

Good morning :)
Happy traveling to Lake Mead Mary :) what is your shopping trip going to be. ... fabrics?
Becca, I'd rather someone ask me to fix something than me figure out what to fix any day of the week :)
The soup was very yummy! I forgot I was feeding all the kids last night so it was a good thing that it was a full crock pot of soup LOL they loved it! We might have leftovers tonight. ...I haven't decided yet :)

Hello! I’m ba-a-a-a-ck… Back from a weekend in Florida. We left Friday morning from Kansas City with a wind chill of 12 degrees and arrived in Florida at 80 degrees! Within five minutes of landing we saw an alligator! (Our only sighting.) We had a fun trip… unfortunately, I was unable to spot a quilt shop and yell “Stop!”. Our guide (one of the hunters that hunts here) is definitely not into sewing stuff. Still, we had fun… out to an island for shelling and lunch at Cabbage Key where Jimmy Buffett was inspired to write Cheeseburger in Paradise, visit to a farmers’ market that made me want to rent a truck and drive home with a load, the Ford-Edison-Firestone estates, museum and botanical gardens, an awesome citrus market with free samples of all the juices and fruits, super bowl party, dinner at one of the hunter’s restaurant… we ran our tails off and came home happy and tired. We were there about 2.5 days as we arrived at 1:00 p.m. Friday and left to return at 7:00 a.m. yesterday.

The Hooligans had the place to themselves with DGDIL and Ava coming down to check on them, feed and water them… oh, and TREATS! When we arrived, we’d left the front gates closed, so our friend who was driving honked the horn as I got out and opened the gates. The sight of the three hooligans running as fast as they could down the lane to jump on me and get love was too happy!!! We were pleased to get into the house and find only muddy prints… no dead animals or parts or bones, no shredded pillows or quilts… All in all, they were very good. You could tell where they had slept on our bed, and also on the daybed in the sewing room. Somehow one of them had managed to get the sewing room door open and they were able to snooze in there, too. No messes there, either. So, they received treats, a walk down to see Ava, and a trip to the post office in the car. They stuck close to us all evening.

I think my favorite part of the trip must have been going to the island and wading in the surf and picking up shells like I did on the SF beach as a kid. That and the flora there… all things I try to grow as houseplants grows so freely and abundantly there. I loved the gardenia tree, bougainvillea that was twice as tall as I am, crotons, ti plants… sigh! The banyan trees at the Edison plantation were amazing!

Now I need to get busy and read everything that’s been happening here…

Irish—I wish you were along to guide me to the quilt shops! We were in the Ft. Myers area, and I didn’t see but one Mexican restaurant and no Chinese ones. I guess I could survive on all the fruit and fruta del mar.

Mary—hope you get out of the desert. I actually like those areas, but I love everywhere I travel. I hope Terry is doing well and learning lots as she goes with you and Bill.

Becca—I’ll be walking with the hooligans today, too. We are almost 70 for maybe 2 or 3 days, then back to the 40s. So sorry your DH isn’t into eating these days… that’s always difficult to be able to please them.

Dinner tonight… I need to check the fridge and freezer. We just had grilled ham and cheese on sourdough last night. I’m probably going to make a grocery run tomorrow and see Mom. I called her when we got home, and she was more concerned about how the hooligans did on their own than our trip—so funny! I think she’s looking forward to seeing my pictures. I also found some of the candied orange peels at the citrus market and brought them back for her.

Need to go hang out some laundry… Bon appétit!

Good Morning!

I have the cooking channel on, trying to get some inspiration. Not working yet! LOL

Mary - only a few more days. I am with you on the Trees! We have a few around here, but more would be nice.

Tina - seems as when I plan to have more than enough, the kids show Up!

Chickie- what a fun whirlwind trip! I do miss beach Sand!

Becca - Sarah can't knit, but she does crochet dishcloths. She loves them!

Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from spring like SW. Pa....We have to be close to 60 and sunny and it's great!

Mary, I think I'd be ready to move on, also....Glad to hear you're seeing Terry, hope she's doing well....I was thinking about you this morning...I saw, on FaceBook, someone had posted camper races...Campers attached to trucks were racing around the track just like those cars...Out there on the desert, you could maybe set up a track and go for it! Just make sure you make a video for FB.....

Chickie, you were in Florida and didn't take me! AND you were in my old stomping grounds...I could have taken you to my favorite quilt shop and the Chinese buffet and so much more...You're right about the banyan trees at Edison, unbelievable.. Were you able to get some HoneyBelle oranges? This is the only time of the year they produce and have to be the best.....I used to think it was almost a sin to be in Florida in barefeet with the sun and warm while everyone else up north was freezing...I think my favorite place in the world...So glad you were able to visit....Now, back to reality, lol.....

Jana, I also thought of you this morning....When I got on line, the 1st thing I saw was a gorgeous picture of sunrise over a lake in Utah...Check out Bing.com if you want to see it....So pretty....Some how, I don't think you have to check out the cooking channel, you'll come up with something delish on your own.....

Becca, Wow, 4 miles, that's great! I think I've done good if I just walk down to the PO and that's almost a stone's throw away, lol....I think we're getting younger and younger every day.....Hoping for a good day, my friend.....

Tina, I agree, would be so much easier if someone would suggest or ask for something..Being a mind reader is not on my resume..Also, hoping for a good day for you too.....

Sure not much happening in this household...I haven't even gone back upstairs to "redd up" the bedrooms yet....Of course, once I do get upstairs, I usually get pulled into the sewing room and heck with the "redding up"......Our neighbor, Donna, was just here and brought us some of her home made chicken soup...Let me tell you, her soup is to die for, best I've ever had...They say (not sure who they are) but, chicken soup works wonders and I can feel it working....I'm actually going to get busy and try to accomplish something, even if it's wrong.....

For our dinner, I was going to have left over veggie soup but now I'm thinking Jim might be getting "souped out" so turning to the freezer, I have a "all in 1 bag" kind of Chinese meal complete with tiny "mac n cheese" thingies....Not Jim's favorite but need to have it while the ban is still in affect......And, still have good ice cream and cookies for afters..............

Happy eating..............

Hi ladies, I know I am a little late again. This was suppose to beading day, but a bunch of us decided to just work on quilt things and we were at one end of the room and the beaders at the other end. I got a good start on my quilt as you go project.

Maryz: sounds like the desert is getting to ya. LOL

Becca: Enjoy the nice weather. We sometimes do breakfast for dinner, too. Sometimes just a bowl of cereal if we can’t decide.

Tina: Soup sounds great. It makes the best leftovers, because the flavors have blended.

Chickie: Glad you had a nice trip. Now to get back to your routine again.

Jana: Sometimes I try something new and then find out, that it wasn’t as good as it looked.
LOL. Hope you have better luck than me.

Irish: That soup sounds great, too. Not much of an oriental taste fan, so I would be voting for the chicken soup or vegi soup. LOL

Tonight we are having left over Lasagna, salad and then off to our dancing. Gosh, we have three dancing night this week!!! Tonight, Friday, and Saturday. We are very lucky. It is such good exercise.

Hope you all enjoy your meals and a very restful evening. Put your feet up and take the load off.

Hugs
Vel
